1. I love the video the tree stand is a great place to play looks like she has tons of things to chew climb and play on what more could a bird ask for
2. that is the saddest story I've heard in a while. please don't get discouraged i doubt very much it was your fault. I'm glad you found a new breeder I'm sure that's will make all the difference
3. She's very pretty I love the pictures you posted of her what a beauty Thanks for sharing her with us and good luck with you new bird can't wait to see some pictures.
4. Well I think Jim is a fine name he's a really nice looking Grey I must say. I'm glad that you decided to adopt him. How many birds do you have as actual pets that your keeping? Just curious. I'm adopting a Harlequin Macaw you can see a picture of him in the other birds room and read his story he's a rescue also.
5. Congratulations on your baby girl I just love girl birds they are so very sweet I have 3 girls and 3 boys and I love them all but I'm partial to the girls.
6. Tyco was clipped before she fledged and barbered her left wing flight feathers for 4 years she also went through 3 owners in that time when I got her she was so off balance from barbering only one side I was worried she would break her keel she would fall so hard. So I took her to the vet and had her wings clipped to match each other and she also straitened out any that where chewed and uneven onthe left side ever since then and since I've had her she has let her flight feather grow in she is now fully flighted and no longer destroys any feathers she trys hard to fly and can a little I don't ever think she with be an ace flyer but now at least she trys and can actually do get to where she wants to be she is 6 years old and never barbers a single feather. I think that feather destruction has allot to do with when birds are clipped especialy African Grey's
7. I can't look I'm just can't imagine the cruelty of some people how horrible they should have very large prison sentences for people like that but they will probably get a small fine and a slap on the wrist it make me sick to call someone like that a human being he's should be labeled as a monster.
8. Hello and welcome pull up a perch and make yourself at home. Boy you must take very very good care of your Cockatiel that is really old for those birds I like the name Harley I am adopting a Harlequin Macaw with the name Harley and My sister had an Amazon with that name as well. You are really lucky to be able to visit you little Grey baby everyday and even luckier to work from hom so you'll have lots of time to spend with him. I can't wait to see some pictures of your flock and your furry guys also I love horses I had one as a kid for a while until my parents had to move to the city and we couldn't keep him any longer I always said one day I would get another one but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I'd really like to see some pictures of yours though welcome again and ask as many question as you need to there are lots of very knowledgeable people here that are willing to share.
9. He's certinly a pretty fella isn't he very nice how old is he with those yellow Eyes he must be fairly mature. Has he been barbering his wings of did someone give hi a very bad clip job? lots of questions. Has he been to the vet for a check up before bringing him home or is he in Quaintine?
10. Oh I'm so happy for you this is going to be the longest 4 days of your life I'm adopting a new rescue Macaw and I'm telling you the days seem to go so slow waiting for money to finish paying for him I want him right nowLOL I'm not even ready for him Yet I have to disenfect his cage because my severe Macaw is useing it I have to move My IRN into a diferent cage so that my Severe Macaw can have his cage and the all need to be cleaned but it still seems to like two weeks is a long way away I'm so happy your baby's coming home its been a long wait and now the fun begins I love all the pics your baby is very pretty I can't wait to hear how things go on Saturday I want to hear all the details of her home coming. OH yea and pictures also
11. I like Malaika it means angel and I think that birds are Gods angels on earth
12. I always quarantine every new bird I get until the bird gets a clean bill of health from my Vet That story is very similar to one I read a few years back except it was Amazons and it turned out that her whole flock got infected and she lost 8 birds all because she didn't Quarantine a baby. After that I don't take any chances I would just lose it completely if I found out it was due to my negligence that I lost my birds they would have to take me away to the funny farm To me it would be like losing my kids and I was the one who killed them no way could I deal with that

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2009/07/29 04:59
13. Ok I feel better now thanks Dan I just feel so sorry for him having to live in a cage like that no toys a metal perch a total seed diet. I don't know if he is showing any of those symtoms I don't have him here yet I went and saw him for a hour or so the other night after his Mom asked me if I wanted him and he seemed to be okay from what I could tell he's not plucking or anything like that and he just adores the young daughter she's 15 yrs old apparently she's the only one that can handle him he's very gentle with her. I can't pick him up for a week or 2 I gave her a deposit for him but I still owe some money for him plus I have to rearrange a few cages around here so that he can have a nice big cage to live in. and I need to find a place to quarintine him and that big cage. So much to do so little time.
14. That's what I was going to suggest that maybe it just got a little to close to the quick and its sore. Our toes get sore if we cut our nails a little to short and I would imagine its the same for our feathered babies as well.
15. Welcome to our family I love the names you chose for your fids I know your going to just love this forum there are so many people willing to share there vast knowledge of birds. your Cag is very pretty and again welcome
16. Thanks Erica and everyone else who gave me a boost of confidence I a little worried because of his size. I'm not afraid of him I'm just worried that my house may not be big enough for such a large bird. They need lots of room and my house is only 1500 square feet. I know a couple that have a B&G and their house is 1/2 the size of mine and I guess he's doing ok but he doesn't have very much room to fly mind you they keep him clipped and he walks all over the place he's like a dog. he follows them all over the place walking apparently Harley likes to do that also so maybe it will be OK I do have a fairly large sun room/livingroom/dining room area its about 14 ft wide and 28ft long so its a good space for my birds to get their flying exercise but is it large enough for a big Macaw?
17. Adaya loved chopped raw broccoli and fresh corn cut off the cob she also love raw snap peas without the pod apples I also found to be a favorite choped up small or apple sauce you should be starting to put all these things in there now and also a quality seed mix you can soak the seeds a little to help sotfen them I never did and Adaya never had any problems eating them
18. Adaya ate like that when she wasn't really hungry I would give your vet a call and maybe just give her some chopped up fine broccoli in her cage and baybe some cocateil siz zupreem fruity pellets to crunch up thats what I started Adaya on she loved chopped up broccoli then I started addind grated carrots and snap peas just the peas not the pod she weaned really well and she still love all her veggies.
19. I knew it she looks just like my baby Adaya that nice long neck that makes the girls soso pretty.
20. Thats very true my kids grandparents did it o me and now when I buy toys for my grandkids I make sure the are the funnest noisiest toys I can find. like those pull along pop pop pop toy that I hated so much when my kids were small. it was one of the first toys I bought when my grandson started walking hahaha
21. Well Raja is getting back to his sweet loving self again wanting pets and being all kissy face I'm so glad it didn't take to long this is his first taste of being hormonal so mabie thats why it didn't last to long Fergie was hormonal for a good 4 months but she is 12 years old and its not horrible because I'm her intended mate so she thinks anyway. I hope Bonkers is getting back to his sweet self also. I really think the boy birds go through a much harder time the girls just want to nest but the think they must protect their nest at all cost. For Bonkers and Raja that means their cage sometimes I wonder if taking their cages away at that time might be better for them at least that way they wouldn't have anything the feel they have to protect with their lives.
22. if any body knows what happen to Carol and her twins? I miss her and she hasn't been on the board for a very long time.
23. That so cute we have Steller Jay around my house and even though they are very pretty and I love them they make a horrible squwak I hope my birds never learn it lol
24. Thats a great new signature you have there I know what its like to have a fledging Grey landing on your head Adaya liked to do the same thing as a matter of fact she still likes to land on my head only now she does it so she can hang on to my hair and bungie jump from the top of my head hanging upside down from my hair in front of my face what a silly little brat she is at 5months old:laugh:
