I finally found just the right bird. After Spike died I was so sad and thought I would never ever find a bird that had such a wonderful personality. I could do anything with Spike I hand fed him from the time he was three weeks old. he also was so well socialized anybody could hold him and play with him he never ever bit anyone. he was just the most sweetest cuddley playful little bird and he had a huge talking vocabulary because he thought he was an African Grey and would copy anything that Tyco said. Well today I found another cockateil that has a wonderful loving personality and she gorgous also but this little bird let me lay her on her back and she didn't even know me her breeder has done an absolutly wonderful jub of socializing her. She is cuddley and very sweet and very pricey for a Cockateil. Her parents are both prize winning Show birds the have won allot of ribbons. She is a WF Pearl. I put a deposit down on her today but prububly won't be able to bring her home until Oct. 20th Thats when I will finally have enough money to finish paying for her. These are some picture's her breeder sent my via email they don't do her justice but you'll get the Idea of what she looks likeSo tell me what you think of her. I think your bird looks absolutly beautiful I don't think his feathers look dull at all. he is a very pretty bird you should be very proud of him you obviously take wonderful care of him he doesn't look at all unhealthy in any way.

I feel the same way. My breeder had every colour Indian ringneck baby there is just about she had blue lutino albino violet and cinnimon. I like the green ones best thats the colour God chose for them and I for one think the Green one are the prettiest out of all of them. Just my opinion. I just wanted to see what you had to say about what their doing just to get more colour mutation for Alexanderines. I think it sucks big time myself

I was told when I got Tyco theat she was strickly a mans bird and did not like women well as soon as she saw me it was quite evident that she wanted to be with me. and I have mostley woman in my house because I have 4 daughters and one son and my daughters live close my son doesn't. My husband and I are separated so there are seldom any men here and my Grey loves to play and learn new things from all of us woman. She is definatly not a mans bird anymore. My Amazon on the other hand does Hate all men and will bite them she was badley abused by a man so its not her fault as far as woman she will let any girl or woman give her scritches and pets. all my other birds are very social with everyone its just the way they were raised.<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/10/06 01:52

I had a Cockatoo the dust from both birds was un bearable if you didn't play with the Cockatoo for at least 15 minutes every hour he would scream and i don't mean a little i mean alot and loud. I could not have him around my kids of my other birds because he would attack so he had to be in a room totaly by himself which was unfair to him I loved my too but their was no way I could keep him If I had no other bird he would have been the perfect companion but they really are not good with other birds or other oets for that matter. My conure is a rea clown and lots of fun to watch The best one of my birds other than another Grey is my Amazon as far as getting along with Tyco Tyco always wants to play with Fergie and will go over to her playtop. Fergie isn't aggresive towards her but she will go into her cage if she doesn't want Tyco around and Tyco respects that and doesn't follow her into her domain its the perfect relationship

I use a steamer to clean all my birds toys and bars of their cages. what ever i can throuh in the bathtub I will and just use the shower head on pulsate and hose them down with really hot water i find it works great their dishes i put through the disk washer every night on the sani cycle so they are ready for the next day's use.

I would say so too He reguritating for you he loves you He want to be with you so I would try step ups next he may suprize you and be just as willing as your other bird.

I know what you mean about dinner time they want whats on your plate what I do is I fill my plate and then take it over to where they are usually on their play top and I fill there plate from my plate that way they know they have the same thing I'm eating it works pretty good. my smaller birds will still come over and sit on my shoulder waiting for a hand out but the bigger ones are ok as long as they know they have what I have.

I don't have a Tag yet But I do have an Amazon and a Congo they are friend and I couldn't love either of them more. They are different in personality but both very special to me. My Amazon loves to cuddle and is so sweet she would rather play with me than her toys but thats no saying she can't occupy herself because she can. but when is one on one time she will willing give up anything she's doing to come and be with me. Tyco is more a talk to me and watch me I'll entertain you kind of bird she wonderful also but shes not so hand on as Fergie. I hope this helps.

oh how cute I'm sure your sister is taking very good care of him. Now you have a new baby to care for and with your love and affection he will be just as wonderful
-

what a sweet heart i love it:laugh:

I agree with all of this I have a very large Grey with very dark feathers so she is obviously a all mixed up Congo and who cares anyway a grey is a grey is a grey and they are all wonderful no matter what part of Africa they came from origanally they are from here now. Our birds where born in our country not Africa mabie we should give them a north american name LOL oh yea they already have one they are all African Grey Congo or African Grey Timnehs.<br><br>Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/10/05 21:37

Its funny I do alot of cooking for my birds they reall prefer soft food to hard. If its warm and soft its like comfort food for them. I try to make them a nutritous warm meal everyday sometimes I can't so they have to eat fresh raw veggies on those days. If I can I make sweet potato turnip peas and carots I cook them up and mash the potatos turnip and carrots and them stir in the peas. they love it I also make pasta and put a little tomato sauce and parmasan cheese they really like there pasta. eggs I make them omlettes with red peper broccoli chopped fine and the egg shells ground up fine in there also they love their omlettes sometimes I make french toast for them on multi grain organic bread I add sweet potatos to the egg mixture they really like that. there are so many things to feed your birds. my bird prefer Zupreem fruity pellets the best I don't think it really matters which pellets you feed them as long as the eat som kind that the main thing. your bird looks good and healthy to me when I looked at his picture I don't think you have to worry.

Tyco know many food names and asks for them frequently. She relentless if she wants something Ive actually had to run to the store (closest one to my house 4 miles) away just to get her what she wants. when she says jump I say how high.{Nature-000200C9}

He a beautiful bird and it doesn't matter really what we pay for them they are priceless to us and we wouldn't give them up for anything. They are our adopted children and the only way they are going anywhere is if I die or I get to old to take care of myself or my birds. otherwise this is where they stay and God willing I will outlive them if not they will have wonderful homes with my daughters who they know and love.

I think the flight suits are cute but doesnt the poop get on the bird after awhile you couldn'd keep him in it for more that a couple hours without him needing a diaper change. I think I prefer a harness I don't like the whole idea of the poop sitting in the suit with the bird I would worry about diaper rash or infetion in that part of their body. Mind you I've never really seen one th see how it works too keep all that stuff away from the bird.

That is a good idea I keep it in mind. Thankyou for the suggestion I would have never thought of that its been years since I've had babys I didn't even know they made two way ones but even if it wasn't 2 way I could at least hear her when she called out and go and reasure here that I'm their for her so she doesn't stay up all night calling to me. thats the only problem with my bird room its way at the opposite end of my house I'm at one end and they are at the other end and there are five rooms in between there's no way i'd be able to hear her quiet little whinny MOM in the middle of the night. A baby monitor is a perfect idea. Thanks again.

Oh yes I will keep a few things in my toom so that if she wants to come and hang out she can. or any of the birds for that matter. All of them are flighted so If they want to come and hang out they can just fly on in. I do that now with the birds that aren't with me in my room they fly in every now and then just to hang out for an hour or so. Tyco is also fully flighted but she hasn't learned to fly yet. Some stupid person didn't let her fledge when she was a baby. She is trying now a little bit yesterday she flew from her cage to my bed which is about 8ft. I know its not far but its a start. After the move I will make a point of going to the bird room and ask her if she wants to come and hang out with me at least until she learns to fly.

I have decided I'm going to wait until next year she only breeds her Tags And Cags once a year and right now she has one left thats available. I think its best to give Tyco another year before I bring another baby Grey in Baby's take up an awful lot of time scocializing them and teaching them all the things they need to know to be well adjusted grown up birds. I also am turning my spare bedroom into a bird room which is also going to be a big adjustment for Tyco to go through that change and a new bird at the same time would be just to much right now for her.As it is I'm worried about the move to another room she has been in my bedroom with me for a whole year because thats where I spend allot of my time so its going to be very different for her not to have me right there with her day and night. She wakes up sometimes and says MOM just to make sure I'm there and I always answer I'm here go to sleep and she does. when she moves I'm not going to be there to answer her when she wakes up. Its all to much for me I don't no what its going to be like for her.

A breeder friend of mine has a brand new clutch of Cags and Tag the Cags are ready now the Tags won't be ready to go for 6 to 8 weeks. I've always wanted a Tag as a matter of fact I was looking for a Tag when I got Tyco but Tyco needed a good home so very badly so I got her instead. Anyway this is my chance to get a Tag but I'm really not sure if I should or not Tyco is just starting to come around and really learning to trust again. I don't know if she would think I'm replaceing her and her going in a reverse mode or somthing like that. I love her to bits and do not in anyway make her upset because I bought another African grey. Do you think I should wait awhile longer or do you think it would be okay to get a Tag at this time, I bought My Indian Ring neck not long ago and she was fine with that but I'm just a little concerned because it's another Grey. Do you thinks she would recognise it as a african grey because its a differnt sub species than she is. like I said she doesn't seem to get upset when I bring different types of birds into the flock.
