  1. I almost peed my pants reading this Terri, that is so funny and cute at the same time, you are so honored but repulsed, I am glad it was you and not me, hey did I say that:blink: :woohoo:
  2. I think you are wise to take him to the vet to look at that eye, it could be a number of things but please let us know what you find out.
  3. Does she really Terri, that is hilarious!! {Feel-good-0002006E}
  4. Just give her some time, talk to her a lot and include her in on things going on in the house, she might be very capable of talking but chooses to talk when and if she is ready to.
  5. I too would like to hear more about Bobo, your grey and about your work with birds.
  6. You don't "teach" a grey to talk, that is something they do on their own and not every grey will talk. This bird has only been in your possession a couple of days, give the bird time to settle in and feel comfortable. Most greys that do talk will be quiet for a while when going to a new home, she needs to feel more secure before she gets back to her old self and if she talked before more than likely she will again but then there are no guarantees. Just give it some time and be prepared to accept she may not talk and even if she doesn't she is still an amazing creature, enjoy her.
  7. Pepper is really getting into those eggs, mmmmm yummy, thanks for sharing those pics with us, its nice to see a grey with a healthy appetite.
  8. She is a beautiful Tag, very nicely feathered, thanks Jen for sharing her with us. Now are you gonna keep Sadie Grey for yourself?
  9. Nychsa wrote: I can just imagine Bella pitching a fit about getting under her wings and belly:laugh: :woohoo: Jen that is so cute of Sadie Grey, all wet after jumping into the water, I know you wished Lyric would do that, just goes to show how individual they really are, thanks for sharing a pic of a very wet Sadie Grey.
  10. Kyle, did you ever check to see if there was a breeder somewhere in your area or in the state of Arizona or even a nearby state that had any grey babies? There are breeders in every state and you just have to find them, that way you wouldn't have to ship the bird, you could handle a several hour drive to get a baby grey couldn't you? We do have some members here who bought their baby out of state and had them shipped to them, some had a good experience and several had a less than desirable one, the ideal is to get local enough that you can get your baby by driving to get them, they usually handle a car ride with no problem.
  11. Robert if you use the bottlebrush branches for perches or playgyms be sure to bake the pieces in the oven at 350 for half an hour to kill any bugs and such that may be in the wood and make sure no pesticides were used on the tree. If you do make a playgym please share a pic of it so we can admire your handiwork.
  12. Dave is right, they will be fine in temperatures we are comfortable with, the only time they need warmer temps is when they are sick.
  13. Just wait as this is only the beginning and it is so exciting when it first happens but it only gets better with time. Thanks for sharing a pic of Kharsen, its a little out of focus but you can still tell how cute and sweet looking he is.
  14. I have no idea Renate about the leg bands and not sure if there is a database anywhere that could tell you from the band about the exact age. Renate, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and Alex.
  15. Shelia is right, he does sound like he has chosen you as his mate and you don't want to encourage this at all and the back and under wings and tail are to be avoided when he is like this for it will only make him more excited. Ramsees why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this grey.
  16. Hello Deanna and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Marley. Yes you are lucky with Marley that he accepts new toys right off the bat but my Josey was like that as a new baby and now she is a little more inclined to be a little scared of new things. If you ever do have a problem just play with it yourself and show him it is nothing to be afraid of, some will more readily accept new things if you accept them first. Bossy sounds familiar when you talk about greys, some like to rule the roost and others will be more laid back, just pay attention to their cues and you will do fine. If you haven't already read them all do continue to read the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I see a pic of Marley in your avatar but if you have some other pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
  17. So she started plucking at the age of 2 and she is now 19 years old then it has become a habit that is going to be next to impossible to break. How much time do you spend with her? Sometimes when they don't get the attention they need they will resort to plucking. If you could give us some more information it would be helpful and why not go ahead and introduce yourself in the welcome room but if this has been going on for the last 17 years its going to be hard to stop. Some of the more knowledgeable members will chime in with more advice for you.
  18. Yes he is Brittany, he is a nice looking grey, thanks for sharing a few pics of him with us.

    Avian Game

Ostrich What was the first species of bird thought to "hibernate"?
  20. Thats great to hear Ralph and in time it will get better, it just takes him time to get to know you but he is allowing a little more all the time. Remember small steps, it may not seem like much but a little is progress, I can imagine in the near future things will be just peachy with you and Spencer.
  21. The Covenant - Sebastian Stan
  22. Pat I am so glad to hear an update on Gizmo and he is doing great, I knew he would in your care but some birds do get grouchy and don't want to be touched when they are full of pin feathers but soon he will be back to himself. He probably would appreciate a shower with you when the molt is over and please do post some more pictures of him when he is looking his fine self. That is sweet to hear him and Fergie are chatting with each other, who knows what they are talking about but its good to hear they get along.
  23. Hello Tiamea and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock. So if you breed birds do you have any as pets? How many greys do you have, just the two breeder birds? We do have several other members who have breeder greys and pet greys but most of us here have greys as pets only. I am glad to hear you make sure your babies go to good homes and you keep in touch even after they leave you, thats one sign of a good breeder. You probably don't need the information about the greys but do read thru the many threads for info and some interesting stories about other's greys, a lot of it makes for some good and also funny reading. If you have any pictures of any of your birds you would like to share with us we would love to see them, I understand you may not have any of your breeder greys for I know how careful you have to be to not disturb them.
  24. Greys need the safety of a cage for times you are not at home and at night for sleep. You can have your grey out of the cage while you are home to allow him/her to fly where she likes to accompany you. You can see where problems could arise from having the roam of the garage, what if someone opened the door and he/she got out or he/she gets into something that harms or kills, I wouldn't want to take that chance. You do need to locate that cage where the family spends the most time as they like to be around the flock with you and your family being it's flock. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.

Congrats Caroline on becoming an Auntie, I was one before I was born but that is another story. Glad to hear she and the baby are doing fine and she is a big baby at over 9 pounds, thanks for letting us know.
