  1. Congrats David on having a son:blush: I knew it was a male, I am always right, just ask anyone here:laugh:
  2. Poor Jac just doesn't understand why he can't have any food tonight and it makes you feel so bad because you can't give him anything but I hope his surgery goes without a hitch tomorrow and he is fine afterward. Please do let us know how he is after the surgery and you take care Marguerite.
  3. Shaun, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and your grey and then we might be able to help you with your problem, thanks.
  4. Hello J5sense and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Fred. Congrats on getting your first grey, now is this your first parrot? Do you have any other birds or pets? He may not be used to being on a perch if he was sharing a cage with some larger birds but give him some time to settle in and find his perches and he will be fine. He needs some time to feel comfortable in his new home so be patient with him. It is normal for a grey to perch or sleep on one foot, they will pull up one leg close to the body and clench the talons, they are resting that foot. Whatever temperature you have it set for you and your family to feel comfortable in Fred will be just fine. You say that Fred has his own room, do you mean his cage is not where the rest of the family spends most of their time? We usually like to put their cage in the room where the family spends the most time and that is usually the family room, you want to keep them where they can be with the rest of their flock as they don't like being by themselves if others are at home. Enjoy Fred's cuddliness for most of them grow out of that stage as they get older and more independent. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Fred you would like to share with us we would love to see them.
  5. Glad to hear your Mom is home safe and sound and soon she will be pain free and back to herself with her daughter's loving care, thanks for letting us know Kimberly.
  6. Steve is right, he has chosen you as his mate, the wings lowered, tail shaking, regurgitating for you and making those sweet little noises means he is in love and wants to make babies. Just ignore his behavior and try to distract him to something else for you know that nothing can ever come from it.
  7. Yes, I knew you would, congrats on deciding to get Lily.
  8. That is probably a good idea for you never know when you might have to towel her in an emergency. You could use the towel in playing with her, try hide and seek or some other game where you are using the towel so she gets used to it being around her. It will be stress enough if an emergency occurs but at least she will be used to being in a towel if you have to restrain her.
  9. I have also used a product called "Poop Off" that works fairly well, it comes in a spray bottle with a brush on top and also in single use wipes but you can't beat the price of vinegar and water.
  10. It more than likely is because of something he eats that causes the bubbles in his poops but that is amazing that it costs $300 to look closely at a pile of birdie doodoo.
  11. Kimberly, I hope your mother makes it home today safe and sound. Caroline, sorry to hear you and Brads is under the weather, take care of yourself and your son but more snow, I can't believe you are getting more snow. It was very cold here today but is warming up as it gets to the weekend, maybe going up to 60 over the weekend.
  12. I second that Matt, whatever reason it takes to get someone off the cancer sticks. I won't allow anyone to smoke in my house, not that I have that many people come to the house that do but they have to go outside and I don't give a rat's patootie how cold it is, NO SMOKING IN MY HOUSE.
  13. Those are some good pictures of Dodo and your little jenday conure, they both look healthy and happy, thanks for sharing them with us Bobbi. Your daughter is cute too:P
  14. Sadie Grey and Sterling have grown into wonderful healthy looking Tags and congrats goes to your neighbor for becoming the proud parent of Sterling. I know she will adore him and yes you will be able to see him from time to time. Now what about Sadie, has she found a new home yet? Thanks for sharing them with us Jen, it has been most fascinating to watch these two grow from those naked little globs into beautiful birds, pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
  15. Hello John and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Macy and the soon to join you grey Lily. That is a very cute cat and I see why you named him Hanibal, I bet he is quite the character, thanks for sharing a pic of him with us. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisire and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Macy you would like to share with us we would love to see them and some of Lily when you get her.
  16. Hello Bobbi and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Dodo. My you do have quite a combination of pets, must keep you busy taking care of all them and with three human kids, bet there is never a dull moment. You certainly came to the right place looking for good advice as we have lots of useful information in our many threads and don't hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Dodo you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  17. I am right fond of Bird Talk magazine, it has wonderful stories, plenty of pictures, usually a centerfold of a particular species and it lists a lot of the bird shows and seminars going on that month.
  18. Thanks Char for the suggestion, lets hope Brittany takes the hint.
  19. As soon as I get home I change into old clothes before I even let the birds out for what I wear to work may be nice sweaters and I don't want them chewed up or pulled. Josey also likes playing with the colored tops off of soda bottles, she has quite a colorful assortment.
  20. Edi I see you are from Washington state, why don't you pm Janet, aka luvparrots and see where she got her grey is one idea. Another is to do a search thru www.avianbiotech.com and see what breeders are available in your state, check to see if there are any rescue organizations in your area that may have a grey available. Greys are out there, you just have to find them.
  21. Edi I am so sorry to hear of Darwin's passing and there must have been a lot more wrong with him than what you knew about but he is flying free over the Rainbow Bridge now. I know his last days were happy for him and he basked in your love and there is another grey out there for you for you have much love to give.
  22. OMG how adorable Jim and it has been a long time since I have seen Josey that way, thanks for sharing that special moment with us.
  23. Thats Dave for ya, makes you jump thru hoops for him but thanks for sharing a video of Echo with us.
  24. No need to be nervous, in fact you should try to get over that by the time the baby arrives or he/she will pick up on that. You will find a lot of the answers to your questions if you just do a search and read thru some of the threads as a lot of the same questions have been asked before. I am sure if you just take a little time and relax you will find that it will all work out and the baby will arrive and be just fine.
  25. I beg your pardon but the baby is under 7 months away, can't you count Dave, do you need help with math:blink:
