Casper is a great looking grey and he looks like he loves the camera too, thanks for sharing some pics with us.
-
I knew you were gonna say that, congrats Berna on your new grey acquisition, give him a name and let the fun begin.

I usually choose female in these guessing the sex of a grey polls but this time I am going with male, I might be wrong but hey I have a 50% chance of being right. :silly:

Soon to be CAG Parent!! : D

She is a scumbag of the worst sort and do not worry, one day she will get her comeuppance. Forget about her Emily as she isn't worth it, concentrate on finding that grey that was meant for you. -
I'm glad to hear you didn't go with the unweaned babies and shame on them for only selling them that way for it is hard to tell how many die due to improper care and feeding. Maybe your breeder can email you some pictures at different stages so you can keep up with your babies growth and if so you can share them with us:whistle:

Congrats on getting Stanley and even though he is a plucker maybe you can get him to stop the behavior or at least slow it down some but good luck with that. When you bring Stanley home you really should keep him in quarantine for at least 45 days to make sure he doesn't harbor any illness or diseases. When you do introduce them take it slowly but do not be surprised if they don't get along but who knows they might. We do have a lot of threads that deal with plucking, too many to list here, just type in plucking in the search box and you should find plenty to read. I want to see some pics after you pick him up on Thursday, even if he is plucked, we can see his inner beauty.

Well I am glad to hear they will refund your money but I guess you will have to eat the vet bill but then that does not surprise me. It is good you can look at it this way, at least you know the bird got the meds it needed, who knows you may have saved it's life.

She better be glad I don't know who she is or she would be so sorry, what a heartless b****, if she can't have them then no one will. They were the sweetest sounding little pair of birds I have ever heard of, the companionship they shared was so unique. -
When I click on the link it brings up Cambridge MA and I tried it several times so get him to check it out so he can hopefully get a harness while he is there.

I am so sorry to hear of this news, I am sickened but mad as hell also. How in the world can someone "accidently" feed two birds coffee knowing it is a toxic substance to them? There is more to this than just what you have told us Emily, give us the entire facts please. -
I'm confused, you say your bf is going to the London/Oxford area of the UK but the map link you provided guides you to an area in Massachusetts of the USA? Please clear this up and someone may be able to help you find that harness you want.

I don't think one is any smarter or better able to talk than the other and you are probably right about the Cags being more popular and thats why you see so many of them versus the Tag.
-
Difficult time, just lost your bf of 8 years and it was partly because of the birds, then I say good riddance for if he hasn't seen by now that Berna is going to have birds in her life then he never will. Good for you Berna for you need a man that if he is going to love and accept you then he has to accept the birds, one does not come without the other, you go girl, there is another man out there for you I know it. I do so hope this works out for you to get this little guy, my fingers are crossed.
-
Just look at those little fuzz balls, they are so adorable and your little one does sit a little different but what a cutie he is, no wonder you want him, I hope it works out for you Berna, he is a keeper. Thanks for sharing the little bugger with us.

he chewed off all his feathers and tail..panicing!
judygram replied to choppersmom's topic in Health Room
Dave has given you some excellent advice and if anyone knows it is him but I want to stress one thing. Do not panic over his plucking and chewing off of his feathers as that is not going to make him stop the behavior. In fact if you do give some kind of reaction to his doing this behavior you might be encouraging him to do it more for the reaction he gets. I know it is hard to do but you must ignore this when it happens and concentrate on finding out why he does this but first make that vet appointment and see if there is any physical reason for it. When you can please introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this grey you have as we would like to get to know you two a little better. -
I don't think you "overthink" things as this is a big decision and one not to be taken lightly so be sure this is what you really want to do and then do it. I think Elmo will be just fine, you probably need to scale back on his attention anyways, with just one bird that bird tends to be spoiled rotten, at least with two you will have to divide the time up some what with both getting equal time. A lot of the other members here have more than one bird and more than one grey and they manage just fine and you will too. What names are you considering? BTW, pay Dave no mind as he is all talk and no action.
-
Berna, this is a decision you have to make on your own as you are the one who has to live with it but in my opinion it seems to me you have already made that decision. If I am reading you right I think you really want this grey for you know you could give this little one a good home, even though he is "damaged material" he is still a grey capable of much loving and providing a lot of companionship for you and Elmo. I don't think that Elmo would be jealous or begrudge you for the time spent with this new grey as long as you keep Elmo in his position as top bird, he was there first so he has to always come first. I think your heart is big enough for two greys and Ethel when it comes time to bring her into your home, I have no doubt that you can handle 3 birds, hell you can handle a whole store full, whats 3 bigger birds. Thats my opinion and especially since the breeder would in all likelihood put the poor grey down if they get the bird back, that grey deserves a good life and I believe you can give that to him. So what are you gonna do Berna?

Hello Kristina and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and possibly this new to you grey. That is so wonderful that you foster birds and do volunteer work for a bird shelter, you are doing something so very worthwhile and needed and so you have found a grey that seems to have taken a liking to you. For your sake I hope your bf turns out to not be allergic to this grey as I can tell you really want to be able to keep this grey and I hope it works out for you. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I assume that is him in your avatar but if you have other pics of him you would share with us we would love to see him.
-
Good luck to you Rick and I know that soon you will be back with good news for that grey is out there, you just need to find it. B)
-
It could very well be related to the respiratory problem he had and especially if he is making a whistling sound when breathing. Naji really needs to be seen by an avian vet for he may need more meds, please do see if there is anyone there that can help you with him, you may have to travel some ways to find one but he really does need to be seen.
-
You have "lots of birds" please indulge me, what all kinds of birds do you have besides your grey?
-
I'm confused here, you don't care whether you have a male or female so why do you want to do the test? You said if it was left up to you then you couldn't care less so is someone else making you find out what sex Macey is?
-
Sorry I forgot to ask but you say you have a zoo, what other pets or birds do you have?
-
Hello Margarett and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Dolfe. Dolfe sounds like a very sweet bird and some greys are very hesitant to bite as is mine, she is over 2 1/2 years old and she has yet to bite me. You have come to the right place looking for advice and information on greys, our site is full of useful info, you just need to take some time to read thru the many threads. If you have any questions please feel free to ask any and all and we will help you in any way we can. You don't say whether you have a Cag or a Tag, which one is Dolfe? If you have some pictures of Dolfe you would like to share with us we would love to see them.

Jasper and Pete, those are nice names, I did like some of the other combinations that some members came up with but they are your birds and your decision. These will be the longest six days of your life but then after that you have them for a very long time so just remember that good things come to those who wait.
