Soon to be CAG Parent!! : D
judygram replied to EmilyCaroline91's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
I wish the same for my grey and sun conure but they would have had to be raised together like Emilys were, oh well, we can't have it all, at least thats what I keep telling myself. -
Oh Toni, boy will he be doublely surprised!! No Super Bowl watching in this house today, nope not even my hubby will be watching it, doesn't care for pro football just college and I really don't give a rat's patootie either. I am enjoying a cold but sunny day here in Virginia and the snow storm we thought we were going to get the first part of the week has about fizzled out I think, its just not meant for us to have any significient snowfall this winter, I am so disappointed, woe is me:(

It was my understanding you could pluck a couple of chest feathers to be tested for sex or you can go with a little drop of blood, usually taken from a nail clip. Are you doing the mail in test?

Thanks Matt for sharing the tests results with us and I know it has not been easy for you since Maggie has started having seizures, I think you have handled it better than I would have, I would be freaking out so your emotions are understandable. I think that would be a wise choice to get a different cage, one that is wider but shorter so she has less distance to fall if she is on the highest level and has one and you may think about putting some padding down with some newspapers on top to soften the fall if and when she does have another seizure. Maggie does sound like a very sweet and loving grey and I think she knows you are doing all you can for her to lead a normal greyt life. Please keep us informed of any new findings Matt.

Congrats Robert on deciding on a Tag as the best choice for you and I can't wait to see some pictures after you bring it home on Saturday.

Hello Nina and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and no, having a grey is not a requirement to join, just an interest in the grey is all that is necessary. How interesting that you are studying birds and espeically the grey, you could probably tell us a lot we don't know about this wonderful creature for a lot of us learn something new about them all the time. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisire and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Hopefully one day you will decide you want one of these magnificent creatures in your life. So you found us on Facebook, interesting, even I have been caught up in joining Facebook from prodding from my daughter:whistle:

I have no interest in the game, don't really know who is playing, its not my forte, I don't even watch it for the commercials either, you will find me either watching a movie or curling up with a good book but you sports fans just go ahead and knock yourself out, have a good time.

Hello Emily and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. I am surprised to hear that this grey and a conure are cage mates, I assume they must have been brought up together for it is unusual for them to share a cage and get along so well. I have a sun conure but I have to keep her separated from my grey as they do not get along. I like some of your choices for names, very appropriate for two birds who are more than likely sidekicks for one another. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I see that must be a picture of them in your avatar but when you pick them up next week why not take a few pictures and share them with us as we would love to see them. -
Capon What species is also known as the "crab-eater"?
-
It is heartbreaking to hear of other's birds who are missing toes or claws due to being chewed off by their parents but they grow up not knowing they are any different from any other bird and usually they adapt very well to their "handicap":S
-
It is normal for their beaks to flake and peel as it is continually growing and they do like to wipe their beaks on things, especially a nice white shirt or blouse.
-
Amanda, you said on the 26th that 2 new tail feathers have grown in and he seemed to have stopped the chewing, is that still true?
-
The white cheeses are not harmful, its just that they will add no nutrients to your grey's diet especially concerning the addition of calcuim rich foods and Dave is pretty much right on everything he gave you advice on as I trust Dave to give correct information. So it does look like Maggie has the idiopathic epilepsy, I hope whatever regimen your avian vet puts her on will help her lead a normal life. Please keep us informed of whatever you find out and keep your chin up, she should do ok.

Thanks for the update on Casper and it does sound like he is doing just fine. Give him some time and he may stop growling at Chris, he may never come to like him like he does you but that is the way of the grey.
-
This does sound unusual but I think he has found someone who really cares about him, I believe he can sense that and he wants you close by and your reassurance right now. If it presists then you may have to try to do something about it but in my opinion he is reverting to more of a baby stage at this point because he has found someone who loves him unconditionally.
-
Thanks for the information Answersquestion, now why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and whether or not you own a grey.
-
Well hello Darwin, that sounds like a lovely name for a lovely grey, he/she is plucked almost oven ready:whistle: but you can see he/she has potential to be a great looking one and I am sure under your tender loving care he/she will be soon, thanks for sharing a pic with us.

Hello Chimaysmommy and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey. And dedicated to greys we are here as most everyone has at least one grey even though it is not a requirement to join, you just need a love for the species and you won't find a friendlier bunch than right here. You don't need to be nervous, just find out all you can and that includes reading thru the many threads here for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I know you cant wait until the end of March until your new arrival comes home but the time will pass quickly. If you have a chance to get some pictures of your new baby and would share some with us we would love to see them.

Jac is such a sweet looking kitty Marguerite and he is hardly old at 8 years, he has a lot of lives left yet. Poor thing must have been in some real pain but soon he should be fine, of course your wallet will be much lighter but then you cannot put a monetary value on your love for Jac and I can imagine that your Dad understands how much you love Jac. Be sure to keep us informed on Jac, we want to know how he is doing.

That was wonderful Nina, Rumi does a good job with it too, he is so cute doing it too, thanks for sharing it with us and thanks for the translation.
