  1. Hello Mary and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Xanan. Boy you are really upset aren't you but you may be blowing this out of proportion. He won't literally destroy your house, chew it up a bit but he does need some other things to chew on, some toys and pieces of wood to destroy for that is natural for them to chew. He is chewing on his feathers for another reason, maybe boredom but he really should be checked out by an avian vet to make sure there is not a physical reason for the feather chewing, if not then it is behavioral. He is not old enough to be mature but that doesn't mean that hormones aren't starting to stir inside him and that could account for his behavior of biting everyone. What kind of reactions does he get when he does this? Sometimes the reactions he gets will only make them do this more, they don't really care what the reaction is but it is like a game to them, they will keep doing it for the entertainment it provides. I am not an expert but we do have some members here with lots of experience with greys and maybe they will chime in with their opinions and ideas for you. In the meantime read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictues of Xanan you would like to share with us we would love to see him.
  2. My gosh Penny, don't scare the poor girl so much about the truth but she hasn't seen anything yet, I would much rather clean up my birds messes than the ones the human children leave behind and I could tell you some stories but I don't want to make you sick. I'm with Penny on the hormone thing and you may find you feel differently after the baby is born so don't make any snap judgments just yet.
  3. A favorite is going after the bra straps and yes sometimes she gets a little flesh with it.:pinch: My sun conure is the one who chews holes in my T-shirts as she spends a lot of the time out of her cage on me and I have some with holes in some embarrassing places.
  4. Pictures would be worth a thousand words Brittany:whistle:
  5. I doubt they will bond with each other, more than likely they won't even get along with one another and you certainly have to have separate cages for them. I would say go ahead and get this grey, then you will have double the fun. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and Macy and Lily too.
  6. When did you say Kim would be back on the site Dan? I will be sure to mention that you wanted to change around the furniture in the whole house, heh heh heh. Just kidding:lol: I don't move around perches either and I definitely don't move food and water bowls as they are fixed at certain places.
  7. Hello Tiger and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new Tag. Will this be your first grey, your first parrot? Do you have any other pets? I assume that is your baby in your avatar, he/she is a cutie, they are so adorable at that age. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any other pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see them.

  9. They are so cute peeking out from that hide-away like that and it makes for such a good picture and wow you have 8 of these hammies, cool:cheer:
  10. Now that was funny, you have a nice sense of humor!
  11. Oh this is such an exciting time, when you go to pick out your baby and be sure to see if one comes to you right off, if so then that is the one to choose. I can't wait to see some pictures, I just love the babies.

  13. Hello Shannon and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you, Omar and Ozzie. Having two greys like you do shows how individual they really are and yours is certainly no exception, I guess you could say that one complements the other yet they do not get along at all but that is no surprise either. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisire and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of Omar and Ozzie if you have some you would like to share with us.

    EGG

Hello Rick and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. I would just leave it with her for right now, she may lay another or two before it is over with and then I think you would leave them for a natural length of incubation and then remove them. At that time I would remove whatever she laid them in so she won't get the idea to lay some more. We do have some threads here that deal with this very problem so do a search to find them and you may find more advice and we do have several very knowledgeable members who can guide you further with their expertise. Please do read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of this grey you would like to share with us we would love to see her. BTW, what is her name?
  20. She just likes to chew on the shell I guess, but it is not unusual for a grey to not eat sunflower seeds, my Josey does not eat them either.

  22. Well Dan isn't on right now and Dave is probably got his nose stuck in some other subject right now or you would hear from them. Glad to hear I am funny but I swear that sometimes I have to laugh to keep from crying.
  23. That is a nice looking foraging tree, you have done a wonderful job on it and Noodles seems to be enjoying it and that is all that counts, thanks for sharing it with us.
  24. And a great mommy you will be Berna for you certainly have the experience, you are more than qualified. Maybe we can fix you up with one of the men here on the forum for they are all grey lovers, you interested!!
  25. That is too funny, Lisa and now she can tell everyone that you fed her bird pellets when she came over to your house, of course that might keep everyone else away, but she volunteered didn't she, then she asked for it. Glad to hear that she didn't think too bad of any of them but I will just take her word for it if you don't mind. Hey, if I am ever up your way you won't feed them to me will ya?
