Looks like they are getting along pretty good to me, thanks for sharing this cute pic with us.

I just finished reading it a couple of weeks ago and loved it too but yes this has been mentioned and fairly recently but it will serve as another reminder to others for a good read. I am not sure what the findings were about Alex's death, it may have been heart related but there are others stepping into the role as Alex may have been the first to be used in such testing of learning skills but he will not be the last by a long shot.

Hello GorgASS and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey of yours. We think this is the best site on the internet for greyt information and we do have a lot of knowledgeable members who go above and beyond to help one another out with their bird's problems. Is this grey your first parrot? I have a split level cage, one side is lower and has a playtop on it but the main requirement is to have a cage that is big enough for them to spread their wings and not touch the cage sides. I don't recall ever seeing an oval cage, maybe you can post a picture of it for us. As you already know we do have a wealth of information in our many threads so continue to browse thru them for lots of useful advice and ideas and don't hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.

thinking of getting an african grey

Hello Neilley and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you. Yes it is true that you cannot use Teflon or any non-stick cookware around birds as it has the potential to kill and we do have members here who have lost a bird due that very reason. I use a lot of stainless steel and like Beth I also have cast iron that works well. This would be your first grey but is it your first parrot? You will find a lot of useful information in our many threads so read thru them and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. -
Oh they are pretty and I can see why they are referred to as pineapple, very colorful mutation.
-
Look at those adorable little conure babies, they are so precious looking, thanks Melisa for sharing them with us. Why do they call them pineapples and they have a light color beak too?

Going to be getting Mr Congo soon!

You will find your grey Jacqueline, just be patient. -
If you go to the photography room you will find two threads that explain in detail how best to post photos in a post, have a read thru and see if it helps you any.

You know why he scratches to get out, because you get him out, he knows now that you will get him out if he protests, he has you trained very well Brittany. But what if you had an accident, even a small one and the door opens up or the window breaks, then he might get loose and fly off, or he decides to bite your ear or something to distract you, it only takes a second for something to happen. Not really scolding you but I just want to give you something to think about.

I think Pepper will be ok with you being gone, at least he has your parents there so he won't be alone and he should be very glad to see you when you get back so don't worry and enjoy yourself. Pepper might take the car ride better if he was in a carrier or travel cage of some sort, that is the way I transport my grey. She has toys, food and water in there for her and I sometimes take her with me when I visit my son and it is a 4+ hour ride and she does well in the carrier, she plays and talks.

I bet you do have scars but they are worth it now that you have gotten him to come around to allowing you to handle him but keep working at getting him to be more comfortable around others but it will take time and you seem to have the patience to do just that.

Hello Vee and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Habib. I know you had your work cut out for you with this grey but that just goes to show what some hard work and time will accomplish and I bet he is a sweetheart now. I would imagine you have many stories to tell of your work with Habib that could help other members with greys that are difficult to work with, maybe you can share some of them with us sometime. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Would love to see some pictures of Habib if you would be so kind to share some with us.

Cracker is very handsome indeed, thanks for sharing these pics of him with us.

Mary that is great news to hear and she has come this far, she will make that full recovery, she is a tough trooper for sure and has been thru a lot but with your loving care she will pull thru with flying colors. Please do update us on her progress and I look forward to seeing some pics of her.
-
Char, keep us informed of what you find out and what happens, you go girl.
-
Any updates today Mary?

Good for you Char, that is exactly what you should do, those poor birds deserve nothing less. You do need to concentrate on your new grey, Whisper for she has to be your first priority. I know those wild eyes of that scared grey cut right to your heart strings but face it, we all can't save every bird out there that needs a new home or touches our soft spot. Please let us know what you find out and I hope you can start what is needed to get this person out of business.

WOW what a setup you have, I am so jealous of your creativity and you have a fine looking bird room, thanks for sharing some pictures of it with us. I too would like to know how those cages are mounted, makes the floor easy to clean that way, clever woman.

Hello Fisher and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey you are getting. I know how you feel about the site, at first glance it looks so overwhelming but you soon learn the ins and outs as I was the same way when I first came here. Congrats on getting your first grey, your first parrot but maybe not your last, a lot of us have more than one parrot and some have more than one grey, I have a grey and a sun conure. As you have already been reading thru the threads please continue to do so for you will find a lot of the information you will need to know and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of this grey if you have some already and if not please share some after you get it home.

Thanks Carol for the info, I'm going to have to go to Lowes and cruise thru the aisles and see what I can find but I don't have the imagination to think up things to make with simple finds, you are so creative, I am so jealous. I may want the instructions to make this if I can find the pieces I need.

We have had other greys here that talked at 5 or 6 months so this is not unusual for him talking at 7 months, he has just found his voice so he is repeating it over and over, I would imagine he will start adding more to his vocabulary soon.
