My Congita Baby is on its way...soon.
judygram replied to MrLourdes's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello MrLourdes and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new baby grey. Its like waiting for Christmas morning, oh but it will get here soon enough, you just have to be patient and all good things come in time. Do you have any other birds or parrots? Do you have any other animals as pets? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Is your baby close enough that you get to visit until the day you can bring it home? If so why not get some pictures and share them with us, we love to look at the baby pics. -
Hello Renate and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Alex. Those are some lovely pictures of your daughter with Alex but like some others mentioned do be careful of having Alex too close to her face, maybe right now he is in the honeymoon stage and as he gets older they can become more unpredictable. I would hate for anything to happen to your daughter's face, she could be disfigured for life. Enough preaching, I don't know how many members here are from Greece but you can do a search and maybe find out but any of us would share the same interests as a grey or greys are the reason we are all here. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.

Congrats on bringing home Rappa, that is an unusual name isn't it, I have never heard of it but I am sure she will master it very quickly as she is already saying hello and you are having such fun with her. Don't let her climb too high before she takes flight so she won't have as far to fall if she crashes but it takes a while for her to become proficient at flight.

Hello Morghen and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and getting this grey you want. You won't find a better place to learn all about the african grey and we have lots of knowledgeable members who go out of their way to help others with their problems and give good advice. I can imagine that Frodo is a delight to have, most conures are such clowns and love nothing better than to be around their owner, I know mine does, I have a sun conure and she is my shoulder ornament. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We have an other birds room where you may share some pictures of your conure and budgies if you like.

I am so sorry Steph for your loss of Hazel, poor thing had been thru so much but you had her home and things were going well until a few days ago but this just wasn't meant to be. I know you have much love to give a precious grey and if the breeder will give you another grey baby then by no means will it "replace" Hazel but it will help you get thru the loss of Hazel. Gosh I almost feel like I really knew Hazel thru your posts about her and her early troubles but too this may have been a sign that this duo of you and Hazel was not meant to be, again so sorry Steph. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that your heart be lifted from the grief of lossing Hazel and that one day the grey for you will come into your life and you will be so blessed.

I really enjoyed your pictures of ZZero, he is an accomplished flyer from the looks of it, you have quite a character, thanks for sharing him with us.

Baby talks for the first time this morning!
judygram replied to luvmygrey's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
The first words are always so special and they repeat them over and over but soon he won't be able to keep his beak shut and will be talking up a storm, better be prepared!!B) -
Littlehawk, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about you and your grey.
-
Thats great to hear he is settling in so nicely and very quickly at that, it usually takes a while for a grey especially one that has already been in one home before and then back to the breeders, you must be doing something right. Yes you will always miss Rubes but she is flying free over the Rainbow Bridge now and Ganesha has got a hold of your heart now because you have much love to give.
-
Hello Poochbabe and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Ganesha. That is a lovely sounding name. I am so sorry about your other grey and birds that died due to teflon and we here are all aware of that danger and rid our house of all teflon products. I am so glad you could open your heart to another grey who was in need of a good home, not everyone could see the beauty of this precious baby but I have high hopes you will be able to reverse this plucking. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Ganesha you would like to share with us we would love to see her.

You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I would think that for $700 you would get something but hopefully when the lab work comes back he will be able to tell you something or maybe it is time to look for an avian vet even if you have to travel some to find one. I hope you find something out on Monday when the lab work comes back.

Thanks Jim and I had already put that video on the site last week but it is so cool and that bird sure does have some moves doesn't he. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/other-birds/121389-grooving-to-ray-charles.html

ADOPTING A OLDER GREY IS NOT THAT BAD!
judygram replied to aglover09's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
That is so wonderful to hear you and Boo Bird are getting along so good so fast, some just take to a new home quicker than others and maybe you just have the touch it takes and are doing everything right, in any case keep up the good work. -
Oh yeah definitely it will bring them down a notch to clip the wings when they were freely flying all over the place but you did what you had to. Glad to hear he is back to his old self, he just had to sulk for a couple of days but that is behind him now.

What to feed a very finicky bird
judygram replied to Scarlett's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Why not try some oatmeal, applesauce and maybe a little yogurt for a change. Mine are fond of sweet potatoes and try the mashed potatoes too. Poor thing probably doesn't have much of an appetite right now and who can blame her but she needs nutrition to keep her strength up. -
Of course you have a genius, don't we all!! Most of the time the good stuff is what they do when a camera is not present, get the camera out and they forget what they were doing and so you lose the chance but be persistent and maybe sneaky to get that video, want to see it.

I am so sorry to hear of this news Shelia and may her operation go without a hitch and she gets better soon. I know where you are coming from for I think most of us have been thru something similar with a family member as cancer as touched so many people. I will keep you and your mum in my thoughts and prayers that you both make it thru this in record time and drop in as much as you can to let us know how she is.
-
Just be patient with him Tony, he blames you for falling on him which you did and he associates you with that but you will have him back with a lot of work and time. He has to learn to trust you again but he will so don't push him for more than he is willing to give until you two work this problem out. I know patience is not too many men's virtues but that is what you need right now, take it slow and easy.
-
So glad to hear he is better, did you end up taking him to the vet or get any antibiotics for him or did it clear up on its own? Kaskoo sounds like he is back to his old self, thanks for letting us know.
-
Amanda, she is unlikely to ever lay any eggs but that possibility will not be for a few years yet so don't worry about it. I have a female also, she will be 3 years old in May and still several years before I hve to worry about that. We do have some threads here that deal with that very thing and you can also talk to your avian vet for their opinion and any advice they might have for you. I am sorry to hear you lost a tiel to that but there are things you can do when that time comes to lessen chances she will ever lay any eggs.

Going to be getting Mr Congo soon!
judygram replied to MrCongo's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
This may be the one Jacqueline, you know when one door closes another one opens, I havemy fingers crossed that you get this one, let us know what you find out. -
I was wondering that myself, it has been 5 days now since we last heard from Kaskoo.

Carol you have one fine looking bird room, you can see the work and effort you put in, you have such a creative mind, something I lack. Are those hula hoops hanging from the ceiling?
