I hope Luigi is ok, I assume you checked him out pretty good as their bones are hollow and could easily break. I am afraid you are going to have to gain his trust again as he does associate you with his being hurt by you falling on him. That is why when someone's grey needs something done to them it is best to get someone else to do it or wrap them up in a towel so they can't see it is you. This may take a while so please be very patient with him and allow him to come to trust you again in his own time, it won't be easy but it will be worth it. Just remember you have not lost him, well maybe for the moment you have but you will get your Luigi back, just keep working at it.

Hello Lvnbirds and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. What is your grey's name and how old is he? We will need some more information on your grey before we can try to help you with the plucking problem but if he has not been to see an avian vet then that is the first thing you should do to rule out any physical reason for the plucking. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and we do have many on plucking, do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of your grey if you have some you would share with us.

OMG Trish, that was a sure scare but I am glad you got her back for many others aren't so lucky. Yes it has been a while since you have been here but don't let another crisis be the next time you check in with us, come back more often and let us know how you and your two greys are doing, see we didn't even know you had another grey. B)

Thanks Tonia for letting us know how you came to get Baby, yes she loved him so much she didn't want to put a price on him so she let him go to someone else who could give him the same, you are lucky to have found him, or should I say you found each other, it was just meant to be.

But it will seem like a lifetime before that day gets here, it always is, like waiting for Christmas morning but yeah it is one week less, I can't wait so I know how you must feel.

I agree that dawn dish liquid may be too harsh to use on a grey's feathers and skin and may be next to impossible to remove all residue. I would go with Dave's recommendation to just give frequent baths and let nature take its course, but you can always consult your avian vet for another opinion.

Hello Tonia and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Baby. Baby is a handsome and fine looking Tag, he looks like he was well taken care of before you got him, I would be interested in hearing how you came to acquire Baby. You came to the right place looking for advice for we have plenty in our many threads so read thru them and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.

I am glad to hear she cleaned up the place, at least that benefits the birds and hopefully she will keep it clean in anticipation of more visits. You did good Charlene and maybe she will keep it clean now that she knows she is being watched.

Jen you have made great progress and I am so glad you took the time to tell us about it. It does require lots of time and much patience but it is beginning to pay off and will continue to improve every day. Although I personally wouldn't recommend the birdtricks dvd or his site you did find some useful material in it but for the most part it is useless and not worth the money. Just keep doing what you are doing and please update us again any time as we love to hear from you about Coco.

Your baby looks so adorable, how precious, thanks for sharing these pictures with us. Your breeder looks like they have a nice setup for the birds outdoors and they look very healthy. I don't have a caique but have considered getting one, yes I hear they are very playful and very cute.

I know how the farming goes, it is an all day job but get us some pictures when you can. You should put that motto as your signature then it will be displayed on every post you make.

Such wonderful pictures of your loved ones, Kaya is a very light colored ring necked isn't she. Does your conure like his baths, I have a sun conure who will bathe in her water bowl but if I take her to the bathroom to bathe her myself she hates it and tries her best to avoid it, don't you just love those little conures. I see you referred to Stratford as a goober, I call mine that too and now Josey says "goober, goober" -
Depending on how long you have had him he may not have settled in enough to want to talk but if he has never talked so far then he may just be one of the few greys who won't talk for not every grey will. Anything is possible and he may start talking but most who do talk do so by the age of 1 or 2 but enjoy him regardless, they are amazing creatures and there is a lot to love about them even if they do not talk. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this grey, like what is his name?
-
I like the one with his wings spread and he looks like he is just itching to get into some trouble, thanks for sharing them with us.
-
Love the pictures and Jaco is checking out that perch, thanks for sharing them with us.
-
Jaco is a nice looking grey, thanks for sharing some pics of him with us.
-
I agree Shelia, you need to have an avian vet take a look at it if you are concerned at all about it but in any case keep us informed. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about you and your grey.
-
I can't recall Josey ever doing that but thats not to say she hasn't but it was cute to watch your grey do that and the other video of Mischief pecking at the window is funny to watch too, thanks to both of you for sharing that.
-
Brett is right, I give Josey a heads up warning when I am going to use an appliance that makes a loud noise, she usually takes it in stride if I warn her first. They understand it is coming if you tell them first, I say "loud noise" and she perks up in anticipation.
-
It helps to give him a bowl with lots of different variety in it and see what he goes for first, after doing this for a few days you will find what Cocco likes best. I love your new avatar of Cocco appearing to be on his head, very cute.
-
Greys will take care of feathers that get out of place so just allow them the time to take care of it themselves.
-
Nice looking Cag, Chimay is getting close to being ready to come home soon huh, thanks for sharing him with us.

Grey Owner Questions About Avian Cakes?
judygram replied to donnanorman's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Whatever works is fine and realize that this will be a long process as when a bird gets used to an all seed diet it is hard to turn around but it can be done, patience, patience and more patience. -
I have my fingers crossed that the state trooper is a bird lover and I hope something can be done about this breeder, good work Char karma coming your way.

Grey Owner Questions About Avian Cakes?
judygram replied to donnanorman's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Josey will be 3 years old in May and she eats the Harrisons High Potency Fine from the time I brought her home at 4 months of age but don't give up as one day she may just start eating them, continue to put them in other foods, at least that way she is ingesting some of them and some is better than nothing.
