  1. Well it might take a while for him to realize that he doesn't have to scream for attention so be patient, my conure screams some but not too much. If you are eating then they want to eat too and eat what you are eating, you know monkey see, monkey do.
  2. Yep, it is today and we haven't heard anything, must be busy with that new grey coming home, can't blame you, but hurry up and let us know something!!
  3. Frozen are just as good as fresh, maybe even more so because most commercially packaged vegetables are flash frozen and they retain more of the nutrients.
  4. Oh I see then you will just have to take the chance that all the babies will be sold by the time they are weaned. About the conure, maybe he wants to join you at dinner, I feed my birds when we eat our dinner, sometimes with them eating off my plate. Maybe he just wants to be with you, you could let him ride around on your shoulder for a while, my conure loves doing that.
  5. Can you go and pick one out and put a deposit down to hold it? That is what I would do. Your grey will probably pick up the conure scream for mine did but it won't stop it from talking if it is going to talk it will. Do you take your conure out of the cage when you are home?
  6. I know when you are waiting for your grey it seems like time stands still but it will soon be here and then you can begin that lifetime of happiness with your bird, in the meantime when you visit please take a few pics and share them with us.
  7. Struggling but I think you got it, he is so handsome, thanks for sharing him with us.
  8. He does look as if his beak is open, a beautiful grey, thanks for sharing him with us.
  9. What a lovely picture, Adaya is a beautiful Tag, thanks for sharing it with us.
  10. She has that look on her face, "Look, Adaya is sitting on MY hand, wait until the other two hear about this" she is so cute, thanks for sharing that with us.
  11. Well congrats on your new bird John but yes there are toxic substances that can and will kill your bird, you will find lists of them in our forum, just do a search to find them. Just like you have to make your house kid safe for babies, you make it bird safe for greys, not much different. You expose your bird to other people, take him out with you to places he is allowed for the more people he sees the more chances he will be more accepting of new people so he does not become a one person bird. I know you will find lots of different information on the internet but you will find the correct info here on this site and we do have many stories told here about their greys, now you need to do a lot of reading.
  12. Oh man, I feel for you but have no advice to offer but I think you will find a way to deal with this as a couple before me have offered you some suggestions, good luck to you and I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers that you find a solution to your dilemma.
  13. Since you are up late at night your grey might benefit from having a sleep cage that you can put into another room where she can get the sleep she needs. Some of the other members here do use a sleep cage but I wouldn't cover her cage during the day. If her cage is in the room where you will be most of the time when you are home then the cage may be all you need but if you go to other rooms for a while a playstand may be helpful to have so she can spend some time with you as she won't like being by herself. Just talk normal around her, they choose what words and phrases they will repeat so even if you say a word over and over and she never picks it up means she just didn't want to say that.
  14. I'm looking forward to those pictures, one more week, how will you stand the wait, you will be so excited you won't be able to sleep. I wish Josey would lay on her back, I am so jealous that yours will, thanks for letting us know tht you will be getting Darwin next week.
  15. You have quite a "zoo" going, a little bit of everything it seems, you have your hands full but I bet you love every minute of it.
  16. Yeah I think I would wait a few weeks before introducing the new sleep cage to him as he will have enough to get used to when you get him.
  17. Ok Sue I did it:side: :silly:
  18. Sue09 suggested to me that we start a game with a funny photo of one of our birds, doesn't have to be a grey, and then others chime in with a caption to go with the picture. I am starting off with one of Josey and lets see what you come up with to go with it.
  19. Thanks Jen for that information, you would think the mod of the bird food room would know that, sorry Erika I just couldn't resist.
  20. Ssshhhhhhh, don't tell anyone but yes:blush: Have you ever told a lie?
  21. I think I am too Toni even though I have plastic containers full of material as I used to do a lot of sewing but I hope Josey enjoys them.
  22. OMG, the floodgates will open up now and you will be hearing all kinds of words, congrats as the first word or words are very special, thanks for sharing that momentous moment:blink: with us.
  23. Just look at that precious little baby, craning its head up to see what is going on, this is going to be a curious one at that, yes they grow up too soon but you are having the time of your life, I can tell, thanks Pat for another cutie pic.
  24. You will have to have it sexed by sending a drop of blood, you cannot tell the sex by looking at it, you can get one of those kits from www.avianbiotech.com or having the vet do it. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this new grey.
  25. Thats great that you found a way to at least reduce the time Tanner screechs but you are right, he may never stop it all together, its a step in the right direction. Your epiphany has earned you some karma. B)
