  1. I have to disagree with your friend in Michigan who suggested giving Jaco a thump on his beak, telling him "no" firmly is enough, you don't want to resort to physical punishment. He is just becoming more independent now and is asserting that, he may just not be as interested in playing games with you like he used to do.

Thanks for letting us know about Charlie, he must have bruised himself.
  3. John I see you are from Virginia Beach, are you aware that there is a BCV Convention in town on April 3, 4 and 5 and there will be a bird mart where you can buy all sorts of toys, foods, cages and such. I am going for the weekend, its always lots of fun.
  4. I wouldn't leave frozen veggies in their bowl all day, they will spoil and sour in a couple of hours, you can give them in the evening when you can remove what she doesn't eat. I would steam them a little and offer them warm and then later you can remove the leftovers. Now you can put fresh veggies in their bowl and leave all day, most of them will be ok. Red palm oil is what we give our greys, its very good for them and when it is cold it is more like a wax but heat it and it turns a liquid that is very orangeish red that you can add to other foods as they usually won't eat it like it is. Some members even put some over their pellets before offering them to their greys.
  5. We always enjoy video clips of member's greys doing whatever, talking, playing and so forth and this was cute. I hear ya, we can talk until we are blue in the face to get them to say a certain thing but they decide what they will say but Emma did it, thanks for sharing that with us.
  6. Are you worried that Ash's beak may be overgrown for I seriously doubt that but why not post a pic of his beak from the side so we can see it clearly and one of our bird experts will be able to tell you if it is overgrown. Most greys will keep their beak in good condition and it flakes from time to time and then they rub it on hard surfaces that keep it filed down.
  7. No you shouldn't worry needlessly, she will be fine as she is adjusting to a new environment but do weigh her every day for a while to get her average weight and then you can monitor it from there with weekly or twice weekly check ins.
  8. Then I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and order me one or two or whatever!!! B)
  9. Sounds like a plan, let us know what you decide to do, ok.
  10. It couldn't hurt to try, I don't know much about eclectus parrots except they are beautiful but I would be interested to know if a companion would help your situation any or just make it worse. Eclectus owners, we need your input here.
  11. Well it definitely isn't mating behavior at 11 months so it must be some kind of baby behavior, maybe she is begging for you to feed her. Do you feed her when you are sitting at the table? She may want something off your plate. Some people are hesitant to feed their grey right from their plate at the table but I have allowed Josey to eat from my plate, I make sure she doesn't get anything she shouldn't have.
  12. I would imagine that the dry winter has caused Woody's dust problem, maybe he needs more frequent baths or showers to help with the problem. I know my skin is drier in the winter with the heat on. He could be going thru a molt, that would account for more feathers and dust everywhere.
  13. Doesn't that just melt your heart when she flies to you like that Gary, I know how you feel, sounds like you had a wonderful first day and can't wait to see how it goes from here, all great I hope. Thanks for sharing Harley with us, that name will fit either sex too.
  14. "Hey, who turned my world upside down for me!!"
  15. Boesman looks like he is ready to take off, a very good shot of him, thanks for sharing it with us.B)
  16. Take our word for it Ian, he doesn't know any more than we do and you will be flooded with emails to buy more and more from him, save your money for bird toys.
  17. No they are saying "Hey we are taking a bath here, how about some privacy"
  18. I just love those dark eyes of the babies, you have a very pretty grey, thanks for sharing him with us, you should be very proud.
  19. Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful looking pictures, thanks for sharing, long time coming but worth the wait.
  20. I can't wait to see pictures Gary and that one picked you so it was meant to be, you got the right one.

  22. Don't worry about what hasn't happened yet, Chimay will be just fine and so will you, only a couple more days now and he will be here.
  23. Wish we had a store like that around where I live, I have been looking at those atoms on another website and boy are they expensive for what they are, you have found a gold mine. Thanks for sharing those pictures of Ash, she is enjoying it.
  24. That is so sweet to hear Pat, maybe bringing home that new baby has made a change in her, who knows she might think if she doesn't act right you have another grey to take her place. She has come a long way hasn't she, this warms my heart so much to hear you speak of Tyco like this, lets hope this change is here to stay.
  25. Poor little Erleen, I hope someone finds her and returns her to her mommy. We do have a few members who live in Arizona and maybe they will be able to get the word out that a grey baby is lost and I hope she is found quickly.
