  1. Hello AceVentura and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey you want. Thats too bad your Mom got rid of your previous grey but you will find another grey, you just need to find a reputable breeder in your area, you can start with looking at www.avianbiotech.com you can search by state on that site. I can't help but ask about your name, you must be a fan of Jim Carrey or the movie! We have some members here from California so maybe some of them will give you some names of breeders they know to give you a start in the right direction. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  2. I never had a doubt, now its time for some fun.  Margarita time:woohoo: B)
  3. Saturday will feel like it will never get here and I know you can hardly wait but it will be soon, better get ready with that camera for we want all kinds of pics of Chimay.
  4. You can give them plain yogurt with no added sugars or fruits but go easy on it, they can't handle but a little tiny bit. Bits of cheddar cheese works well for a treat but just a tiny bit of it also.
  5. Hello Ianstewart and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Joey, I assume that is your grey's name. How long have you had your grey, are you his first owner, how old is he? We need some more information before we can make some suggestions to help you. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your grey you would share with us we would love to see him.
  6. I have one just like that but it says B R A T  she likes banging it around to hear the bell ring, thanks for sharing it with us and Baxter looks good too.
  7. Awwwwww, Tuki is such an adorable little grey, they are so cute at this stage, just getting feathers on their backs and wings and the soft down still present on their chest, he is so precious, thanks for sharing him with us and I know you can hardly wait until you can bring him home. B)
  8. Inappropriate or not you have my support as you have already had for a long time, divorce is not anything new, it happens all the time and I hate it when it gets so messy especially with my close friends. I think everyone here can share my sentiments, you have been here for us to help us thru some bad times and if anyone needs anything all they had to do was ask and you were there. I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers that you make it thru this day and all the days to come and come out with a smile on your face and find that happiness that has eluded you for so long.
  9. You need to keep him busy and occupied, if he won't play with his toys then provide him with things he can chew up and destroy and some things to forage with. We have a homemade toys and playstands room where you will find lots of ideas for foraging toys and other toys you can make out of common household items. Thats great that he is doing so well with you, keep up the good work.
  10. Yes the laughing has to stop or he will never stop saying it but don't try to replace it, just ignore it when he says that phrase, no reaction will accomplish more I think. If you must laugh be sure to leave the room, better the house so he doesn't hear you do it.
  11. Why don't you share some with us right here in this thread, we would love to see them.
  12. He wants to be with you when he is out and he may not stay on his cage but you will just have to keep putting him back many, many times. Do you have any playstands or other things you can place him on while he is out, he may be bored with nothing to entertain him or play with on top of his cage. A lot of us have portable stands or rolling playstands where we can take them with us when we go to another room to work or do things. If he goes to the floor just pick him up and put him back as it is not a good idea to have a grey walking around on the floor, too much chance he will get stepped on and hurt, even killed if you trip over him and then land on him.
  13. I agree with Pat, he may need a full blood workup by an avian vet, I know it is expensive but you don't want to take the risk of losing him, they hide illness so well. Are you sure he is regurgitating or vomiting, if he is slinging his head a lot when he does it then it is vomiting and he has to be seen ASAP. Please take him and find out and let us know as we worry about each and every one here.
  14. All these babies are making me so jealous but they are the cutest things I have seen in a while, Caitlyn your baby is so cute and with that little Tag for company, awwwwwww, I want one, thanks for sharing your little bundles of joy with us.
  15. Awww Pat, that baby is so precious looking, I know you are going to love this baby so much and that is so sweet how Fergie said "pretty baby" when he saw it, thanks for sharing it with us. Keep us informed of this little one and let us know how Tyco takes the new addition, I am anxious to know that.
  16. Hello Nigalius and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your possible grey. I thank you so much for researching and asking questions before rushing out there and getting that grey as some do and we will help you to decide if a grey is a right fit for you. Actually greys are not as noisy as some birds, most are considered quiet when you consider the noise a cockatoo, conure or macaw makes. They usually have several times a day that they are vocal but it is usually them making their mimics and talking. You won't hear a peep out of them at night, when I cover mine for bed I don't hear another sound out of her until I uncover her in the morning. Yes 3 hours out of the cage every day is a minimum with preferably more hours if possible but that should be supervised time. In other words don't let him/her out and allow him to go where he wants, put him on a playstand close to you so he can interact with you. I have my Josey out for over 5 hours a day but she spends that time on various playstands and is supervised so she does not get to any wires and such. Greys can be trained to poop at certain places and on command, we have several threads here that will help you with that, just do a search to find them. Be aware that not all greys will talk, most of them do but you take that chance when you get one that it may be one of those few, will you still love and care for it even if it never talks? They do need lots of toys and they should be provided with foraging opportunities to keep them occupied and their mind busy as a bored grey can sometimes turn to plucking from boredom and neglect. Hope this helps you make that decision and others will chime in with their ideas and suggestions for you too but you seem to me like you would make a good parront to a grey.
  17. He needs to be seen by an avian vet ASAP
  18. I just read your blog also and you are much too young to be having a stroke but it does happen as I have a sister-in-law who recently had one and she is just a little older. My you have been thru a lot but you seem to have picked yourself up and got back in there in the game of life and now are ready to bring another grey into your life. I am so sorry to hear you lost your other grey, I hope it either found a new home or is surviving on its own, others lost before have.
  19. """The one that comes with the cage is not all that great, and the manufacturer was nice enough to send me a different sheet with clearer labels.""" Now why didn't they just provide that sheet to begin with, jeez:S
  20. Yeah it sounds like jealousy to me too and I can imagine she does like the control she has, what woman wouldn't:whistle: Your hubby might have to keep hands off you when AnnaBella is out to avoid a bite but then you already know that so tell him he has to keep his hands to himself until AnnaBella goes to bed then all bets are off.
  21. Since you have only had Coco for a week that is not long enough for him to feel comfortable enough to talk around you and he may be one of those greys who won't talk around you, we call them "closet talkers" Please give him some time to settle in to his new home and feel comfortable and he will begin to show his true personality. I would advise you not to clip his wings, some people do because they think they won't lose a clipped bird but that is a myth. If you have a clipped bird outside and it gets spooked with a little wind that bird can and will fly and you may not be able to retrieve that bird, I wouldn't take the chance. Some people also clip their birds wings to make them more dependent in the home to keep them from going to places they don't want them like to furniture and cabinets where they will chew on them. A flighted bird is usually a happier bird and many of us who previously clipped our birds are no longer doing that but it is a personal choice.
  22. Hello Bryan and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new Tag. You will have to tell us some more about this Tag but then maybe that is in your blog and I haven't read it yet. So I assume you must be having your bird shipped in if you haven't met it yet, you must be so excited about that first meeting and we are excited for you. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. When your Tag comes please consider taking some pictures and sharing them with us as we would love to see it.
  23. Hello Wayne and welcome to the family, so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Coco. So Coco is loads of trouble huh, care to explain that statement as I cannot imagine a grey being any trouble, they are sweet as sugar and behave so well,:pinch: never in a million years would I say that about a grey, NOT, I hear you and been there and done that. You will have to give us some more information about him and his circumstances, how you came to buy him, whether you have any other parrots and such so we can see your situation and be able to help you with it. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Coco you would share with us we would love to see him.
  24. Yeah maybe they will have it there at the bird mart, they seem to have something of everything there, I can't wait.
  25. That video is pretty awesome and I love how she says "I love you" that is so sweet, thanks for sharing that with us.
