  1. Hello Johann and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your Tag. What is your grey's name? Do you have any other birds or parrots? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. we love to look at pictures here so if you have some of your grey you would share with us we would be most grateful.
  2. Yes please rethink clipping your grey's wings, she will bump into things and all but that is how she learns, the same with a child that is learning to walk, you wouldn't cut their legs off because they kept bumping into things because eventually they master the art of walking, well the same with Dudley, she will master the art of flying but not without some mistakes along the way.
  3. Thats a good question and I don't have an answer for you as my grey is only 3 years old but I believe they stay pretty active, maybe slowing down some as they age. Maybe some of the members with older greys will chime in with their experiences.
  4. What a great photo of Mocha, wow looks like bombs away, I hadn't realized he grows so fast, that is a lot of growth in one week. Please continue to post pictures here every day if you like for it seems he does change quickly, you are so lucky to have him.
  5. I have some of those acrylic type toys in Josey's cage, they are indestructable and she enjoys playing with them, I rotate them out from time to time. I haven't seen one like the one you posted about but I have seen a lot of different ones. Thanks for sharing a picture of that one with us.
  6. Becky, that is so sad that Red's former owner was so thoughtless and uncaring to smoke around Red but I am glad you found out about him and now he is in your care. I believe the first thing you need to do is take Red in to see an avian vet for a full workup to make sure he is healthy and has no lingering problems with smoke damage, their respiratory systems are more sensitive than ours and that would be my utmost concern right now. It won't be cheap but isn't he worth every penny? That might answer the question about what he does when you try to take a picture but you don't know what he went thru in his former home and maybe the sight of a camera is a reminder of something there. He is a pretty grey if that is him in your avatar but please feel free to post any additional pictures you may have for we love pics here.
  7. You certainly picked the right bird and it is so wonderful to hear that she is adjusting to her new home and it has worked out so well for all of you. I have also taken my grey with me to work occasionally, she enjoys being out with mommy and she loves to go, she doesn't hesitate to get in her carrier, we are fortunate to be able to do that with our birds. I don't want to burst your bubble but your grey may not always be so cuddly, some are but a lot of them will be when babies and then they become more independent but that is something you will find out as time goes on. We love pictures here so if you have some of Ziva you would share with us we would be most grateful.
  8. It seems there is always something new to learn even when you think you should know it all and with over 20 years experience you probably do but glad you are keeping an open mind. That is a beautiful bird and I love that wing spread, a good shot of her.
  9. Hello Becky and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Red.
  10. Hello Harmonicaman and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Ziva.
  11. Congrats on getting your baby home safe and sound and I did check out your pics on your profile, very cute looking grey, can't wait to see more and how the next few days go.
  12. Joolesgreyuk wrote: Not to worry Julie, I wouldn't harm a hair on any of my friends heads, lets just say a son-in-law, soon to be ex is not well liked at the moment.
  13. Cindy that looks like an excellent toy and what a great idea to put all kinds of things in it for foraging, no wonder Darwin loves it, you will have to thank your dad for thinking of it.
  14. Thats it, some call them peanuts as I have always called them and some say monkey nuts.:side: :silly:
  15. Mocha is simply amazing, to see the difference in him with every day and yes he does resemble a toad in that one shot and already starting to perch, my my what will he be doing tomorrow. Thanks for keeping us up to date on him.
  16. Jacob, this is not the first time something like this has happened and I have included a link to another thread with something similar t oyours, I wouldn't reply to it if I were you, just delete it. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/site-feedback/135537-suspicious-email.html
  17. Hello LuvThoseGreys and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your fids. I know you will enjoy our forum and we think we are the greatest bunch of people on the internet, we are surely a group of grey lovers, that one common thing that bonds us together as a family. You will find we have loads of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and ask questions if you have any and we will help you in any way we can. Probably you could tell us a few things since you have pet and breeder greys and I am sure you have some stories you could share with us too. Is that one of your pet greys in your avatar? You are welcome to share some pictures of your greys and your other birds too if you like.
  18. I bet your son took real good care of Ben too.
  19. Glad to hear you, your wife and dog had a wonderful vacation, ah where was Ben, but sorry to hear we won't see any pictures right now, how dare some nerds vandalize your computer, what is the world coming to. If you find out who it was that did it send him/her my way as I am in a spitting bullets mood right now:angry:
  20. Well I never really thought much about it before but yes they are cute now that you mention it.:cheer: What is really cute is how my grey kind of swaggers like a cowboy when she is walking across my bed. I will take her into my bedroom sometimes at night before she goes to bed and she plays on the bed while I watch some tv and she will walk across the bed with a step that looks like a cowboy right after he just got off his horse, its so cute to watch.
  21. That looks super Hannah, your fids are so lucky, now can you make me one:whistle: thanks for sharing that with us.
  22. Thats what we are here for, to help each other and I do occasionally buy parrot mix that has peanuts in the shell and I throw them out for the wild birds, I am taking no chances.
  23. Allison, I am getting a little anxious to hear how the homecoming went and to get to see some pictures of Omar, don't keep us waiting for too long.
  24. I'm here now Jill, I have included a thread that this very subject was discussed and this is what I base my decision on not to feed peanuts in the shell, you make your own conclusion. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/23193-peanuts-in-the-shell.html#35346
  25. Like I have said before, monkey see monkey do. Opps, are the peanuts you are giving the ones with the shell on? If so you may want to rethink that as they can sometimes harbor a fungus that could be potentially lethal to your grey. I only feed human grade shelled peanuts with no added salt to my fids.
