  1. Here you go Chelsea, try this link: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/other-birds/150802-sunshine-on-my-neck.html
  2. Those are some great pictures of Beau, he may not like the camera but but the camera likes him, thanks for sharing them with us Julie.
  3. Adam, please look thru the Homemade toys and playstands room for lots of ideas for toys you can buy and things you can make from commonplace items that will help to keep your grey busy and occupied while you are gone, especially take notice of the foraging ones.
  4. Thats so cute but true, birds are good at letting us know someone is around, I have never had mine say hello or anything cute like that but the conure always screams when someone strange comes into the house and Josey stays quiet.

    Feathers

Yes please rethink the clipping of his wings as Dave is right about them suffering physically and mentally, your bird needs to learn how to fly, later if you decide you have to do it for whatever reason you can. We do have many threads here on clipping versus not clipping, please read thru them before you make your decision.
  6. Hello Natalia and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Ganzha. That is an unusual name, I don't think I have ever heard it before, is it an african name and does it have a special meaning? I hope you can find some time to read thru the many threads here for you will find lots of useful information but do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing a picture of your precious baby with us, he/she is adorable.
  7. He looked at you like you were nuts, well you are nuts but I totally understand and I hope you get your "Jolly Ball" oh and Happy Birthday Thursday.
  8. Don't feed him outside of the cage, leave all his food and water inside the cage so he has to go back inside for it and he will when he gets hungry or thirsty.
  9. Thats what we keep preaching here, time and patience.
  10. That was one amazing story and I am so glad it had a happy ending, thanks for sharing it with us.
  11. That digging is normal behavior for a grey, my grey still does it occasionally at 3 years of age, its like a chicken scratching and for my grey it usually means she wants out of her cage.
  12. I know how you must feel, so proud but also apprehensive but I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers that he remains safe and comes back soon to his family waiting for his return.
  13. Put all the perches low in the cage so if she does climb on them and fall she won't fall far and put some towels or a blanket on the bottom to cushion any falls she takes. It takes some time for them to master perching and it helps to keep everything low until she gets better at it. You can put newspapers on top of the towels/blanket to keep them from getting so soiled by poops.
  14. From the looks of the picture in your avatar your grey is not a baby, more of an adult but as far as how old I can't tell. You are going to have to give this bird some time to get used to his new home, he is in a strange to him place with new owners and he has to have time to settle in and feel comfortable so don't rush him into something he doesn't want right now. Just leave him alone for a couple of days, don't go any closer than he is comfortable with and as the days go by get closer but talk to him softly and let him see you doing things. Him being more of an adult grey it takes longer for him to settle in versus a baby and you will have to be very patient with him. Try and read as many of the threads here for lots of useful info and take your time with him, he will eventually allow you to have closer contact with him but you have to earn his trust first.
  15. Jay, you can try spraying her with some water and see what happens, some greys like it and some don't and you will find out real quick which one she is, if she doesn't like it then you will have to wait until you can handle her to bathe her. If her cage is big enough she can flap her wings inside her cage otherwise you can open her door and see if she will come out. Leave all her food and water inside her cage so she has to go back inside for it. Chirps are usually just grey communication and it could mean a variety of things, just common grey sounds. I do not know of a safe air freshener to use around birds, their respiratory systems are very sensitive so we don't use those products. Birds usually don't "smell" although they do smell like a bird but it is not an unpleasant smell and you have to be right up against them to notice it. Personally I like bird smell but then that is me.
  16. Ahh, a man after my own heart, how sweet you are to do that for her and thanks for sharing it with us.
  17. I think they are all wasteful at least mine are, it seems they drop more than they take in especially if it is something crunchy, it gets broken up and the pieces fall while they might get a tiny morsel of it. The only think I have seen my parrots eat and not lose a tidbit of is when I give them a little sliver of cheddar cheese, they eat that up without losing a crumb. I think it is just natural for them to be wasteful like that, in their natural habitat they provide food for the ground dwellers who scavenge up the forest floor.
  18. He might be going thru a molt and when they do that they get more itchy so he is trying to relieve it, he might benefit from more frequent baths and some sprays with aloe vera juice, it is soothing to the skin and feathers.
  19. Tango is a real cutie and so adorable but then I haven't seen one that wasn't, thanks for sharing the pictures with us, know you can't wait until you bring him home with you.
  20. Hello Bobbisgran and welcome to our family, its so nice that you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bobbi.
  21. Hello Qqsbad and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Rani and this new cockatoo you are getting.

    going well

Buster views his cage as his territory, his safe zone and he is protective of it so you will have to respect that, if he comes out and sits with you and allows you to stroke him and such then that is great. Will he step up for you after he comes out and comes to you? If so then you have no problem, a lot of greys get territorial about their cages and will refuse to step up or have you do anything to them while they are in it or on it but when they step away then they become more loving, accept it for that is just the way he is.
