  1. Thats great to hear that Larry is just fine, like children they have their ups and downs, bumps and bruises, thanks for letting us know.
  2. Yes she is coming into her own now, she is finding she can do a lot of things and she is becoming more outgoing and wanting to do new things. They are very smart you know.
  3. I agree, he wouldn't have swallowed it so it has to be in the garbage, now you want to go thru that to find it Pat? I think I would if I were you just so I would have it in my possession.
  4. Oh my Pat, I guess their beaks are strong enough to bite the band off especially if the band wasn't too heavy, I would look around to see if you can find it for you know he didn't eat it, that will tell you whether he did or not. Just count your lucky stars that he didn't hurt himself doing it.
  5. This is so funny but no your grey has not lost her mind, she is doing normal grey antics, my grey does a lot of these moves and some of them look uncomfortable but she wouldn't do them if they hurt her in any way. I just had to laugh, there you think your parrot has gone to the looney bin but she is just a normal acting grey but I bet the look on your face was worth a thousand words.
  6. Hello Adam and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bismark. What a wonderful gift from your mother, she must love you very much and knows how much you have wanted one for so long so she made it happen for you, you are lucky to have her. I live in Virginia also, I am from north of Roanoke and I have a sun conure and my grey. There are other members from VA also and maybe some close around your area. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks so much for including a picture of Bismark in your intro post, he is a cute little fella.
  7. What a cute picture that second shot is of Harvey peeking out from the junk, what a ham and he is having a good time, thank heavens for junk mail and thanks for sharing that with us.
  8. He is a nice looking Tag, thanks for sharing a picture of him with us.B)
  9. Hello Wendy and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Ron. I think it is about time for Ron to test the waters so to speak, he is becoming more independent, he wants to see what he can get by with and he is testing you, this is all normal. Some greys do get territorial about their cages, the cage is their sanctuary where they feel safest and some do not like intrusions into that space so respect that and allow him to come out of the cage and then they usually are more willing to step up. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of Ron you would share with us we would appreciate it. Others will come along and chime in with their suggestions for you on his behavior but it is all normal for greys.
  10. Becky this is a 4 year old grey so it is going to take longer to gain this bird's trust than it would a baby grey, plus the fact that he was neglected at his former home so give him plenty of time to settle down. You can't rush things with an older bird, he is more set in his ways and it will be harder for him to trust you so take it slow. Just keep talking to him, get as close as he will allow you to and talk softly to him, let him see you doing things and he will let you know when you can get closer or he is ready for more. Patience, patience and more patience is what will work for Red.
  11. Hello Jay and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could finally introduce yourself and we look forward to hearing more about you and Angel. No doubt you might not think at this point her name suits here but it will, just give her time to settle down and feel comfortable and things will fall into place. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and continue to ask questions as you have been and we will help you in any way we can. I hope you will grace us with some pictures soon but yes let her settle in.
  12. How old are you? Are you going to college?
  13. That cage is exactly like the one I have for Josey except it is a different color, I love it with the playtop on the side like that and it is big enough, thanks for sharing those pics with us.
  14. Congrats on deciding to get that eclectus now too, boy you are going to have your hands full with bringing home two birds but twice the fun. Looking forward to seeing those pictures.
  15. You are not pestering us at least not me but how are you gonna learn without asking questions, ask anything you like but don't forget about introducing yourself in the welcome room or I might have to get nasty with ya, ha ha, just kidding but do it. B)
  16. I love the pictures Caitlin, Ecko is a great flyer and you took some amazing shots of him, I especially love the one you chose for your avatar, thanks for sharing these with us.
  17. Yeah you better get a lumberyard if you want to keep Darius away from your woodwork for he is a voracious chewer:huh:
  18. Thanks KC for being so honest with us about what happened and it will serve as a warning to others who might think they can do it, it is something that is better left to those who are experienced with it. I'm just glad she is ok and doing fine.
  19. Yes let her be for now, just talk softly to her, tell her what you are doing and so forth, she will calm down soon and then you can work on getting her out. She just needs more time so don't rush her. If you leave the room and she calls for you just answer her that you will be right back and do so.
  20. Yes they are all different and it seems Yoshi is very well socialized but maybe another grey from the same breeder may have reacted differently. When are we going to see some pictures of Yoshi?
  21. Only if it doesn't freak him out but if you have a small travel cage you could put him into and take him either into the shower or outside and use a mister or a hose at a gentle spray fall over him that would get him wet, just a suggestion Jill.
  22. Men do not rule, we just let you think you do, remember, behind every great man is a great woman and don't you ever forget it.
  23. When you open up the cage for her to come out try to get her to step up on your hand, maybe let her come out of the cage completely before trying and tell her as you are doing it what you are doing. They understand a lot of what we tell them so be sure to tell her, you might try offering her a treat to entice her. If she does step up then don't rush to try to pet her, give her time to get used to stepping up and if she seems hesitant then wait a while and try again.
  24. Bummer, they probably sent them all to LuvThoseGreys since she got a huge box and they have no more, oh well you tried.
  25. Cheeky Charlie, better not let him miss his show or there will be hell to pay, men and their remotes, what makes them think it is part of their anatomy.
