  1. He does look great Pat, he sure is a beautiful bird and I agree with Julie, whatever you are doing keep it up for it is working wonders, thanks for another great shot of Darius.
  2. I smell a FART, phew, sure will be glad when Friday gets here so I can F.A.R.T.
  3. I think you made the right decision, you can always add another bird later but beware of MBS, Multiple Bird Syndrome, its contagious, once you get one then you want more.
  4. I have seen this before but I want to see a video of it when you accomplish it with Harvey! Thanks for sharing the link with us Jill.
  5. Thats not logical, thanks slave:whistle:
  6. Oh yes we sure do, that is why your best bet is to get your grey from a breeder who knows how to handle them and socializes them from an early age, be sure to check that out as we usually shy people away from the standard pet stores for birds.
  7. Josey will take a chicken bone any time, she loves to break it up to get that marrow in the middle, it is amazing how easily they can crack and dismantle that bone, thanks for sharing that pic with us, he looks to be enjoying it immensely, yum, yum good stuff.
  8. You have to understand that birds in pet stores are exposed to anyone who comes into the store and that includes idiots who know nothing about birds and how to handle them so you never know what to expect from them. Most usually do like their neck scratched and a lot of them will be more than willing to give you a bite but they are all individuals so you will see variances in behavior.
  9. Thanks for that idea, I have a shredder basket full of it, now I know what I can do with it instead of throwing it in the trash, you are right those calculator rolls can get expensive.
  10. Ha, likely story! We have a longer weekend next week, it is our Labor Day on Monday September 7 so next Friday I will be more than ready to party down. Have a nice Bank Holiday Jill and all you other UKers!
  11. Is that what you hope to accomplish? For two greys to breed they have to have certain conditions and pet greys usually won't, thats why there are pet greys and breeder greys. Dave007 can give you an answer as he knows from personal experience.
  12. Well if he has had it for years then it is not causing any problem but I would have it checked out by your avain vet just to be on the safe side especially in light of the fact he has not been seen in a few years.
  13. Just continue to do what you are doing for it is working, looking forward to hearing how Rani progresses in the coming weeks and months.
  14. Congrats on bringing Biscotti home and he is a boy, it sounds like he is settling in nicely, now I look forward to seeing some pictures when you get the chance.
  15. That was funny Steve, thanks for sharing that with us.
  16. Gosh I hadn't thought of offering them in the shell but then we didn't have any in the garden this year but I love lima beans but that might be a great way to offer them, give them the chance of working a little bit to get to them.
  17. Hello Dmarie and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new grey. I think if you have not had a grey before you should stick with getting just one, a grey is a big responsibility and a lifetime committment and having only one will be enough for the time being. You can always add another later or another bird of a different species if you like. Have you ever had any parrots before? You should read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  18. Hello Dan and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey you want to add to your life. You are doing the right thing in finding out all you can to prepare yourself for a lifetime committment for these birds can live to 50+ years. Greys do tend to pick one favorite person but that doesn't mean they hate other family members, my grey is bonded to me but she is tolerating of my hubby, she is slowly becoming more accepting of him but he can't do things to her that I can do. Even if your grey does prefer your gf over you it doesn't mean you can't have a good relationship with him/her just different. Please continue to read thru the many threads as you will find loads of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can.
  19. Wow he is doing a remarkable recovery on weight gain and he should be at his goal in a couple of months if not sooner. I do hope the vet will allow you to let him come out with the rest of the fids, he just wants to be a part of the flock. Thanks Pat for another great update on Darius, you should be very proud of him and yourself, I know I am.
  20. Hello Mitch and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could finally introduce yourself and we look forward to hearing more about you and Ziggy. You are starting out just fine, he does need time to settle in and feel comfortable before doing too much with him, he will let you know when he is ready for more. I also agree he needs pellets available all the time as they do snack during the day and do not have any set meal times. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for including a picture of him in your introduction post, he is a handsome fella.
  21. I just bet you do Bernie, men and their toys, you must be a night owl as you are still logged on.
  22. Yes what a mess but you love every minute of it don't you Jay!!! Thanks for sharing it with us.
  23. Yep, thats the toy, are you having a good time with it Bernie, looks like great fun!
  24. My birds love cheese and they do get small amounts and they have tried other things that they shouldn't eat but again in small amounts, moderation is the key just like with us.
