1. I have one on each shoulder lying back in my recliner, Josey on my right and Sunny on my left, works for me!!
2. Moobu wrote: That statement is about some of the worst advice I have heard on this forum and I have heard some doozies. Devilangel, no one is accusing you of wanting to clip their wings, that was Brad's comment that started the resulting statements about clipping their wings. You are right on about the being patient and good things will come.
3. I like that bargain David, the best kind.B)

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2009/08/30 20:49
4. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when that happened, you have made me laugh and she is doing her part to keep the dog from going hungry, what a character is right, thanks for sharing that with us.
5. I bet I know what your new toy is Bernie, am I right?
6. I don't see why not, it is not included on the toxic plant list so it should be safe to use. Use dead branches not ones freshly cut from the tree, soak them in water to soften the bark and it will come off easily then allow to dry completely in the sun then cut to fit. I see this is your first post, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this grey like what is his name?
7. DNA sex testing is the only surefire way to determine sex other than the surgical way and who wants to have that performed on their bird, certainly not me and I presume the test can be done as soon as they have feathers so no age limit. BTW, don't listen to those people who say strange things about your grey or that they can tell the sex by the shape of the head and so forth, they don't know bullcrap from apple butter.

Enzo wrote: Angel does get very frightened when small children come around, most greys even adult ones have a hard time dealing with visiting small children and you should keep them away from her cage to not stress her out so much, tell them firmly that they must respect your wishes. Do you spend a good amount of time talking to her softly beside her cage? If not you should, tell her about your day, what you are doing and so forth, that will help her get used to you and starting on that trust that she must have for you to bond. Give it some more time and be patient with her and soon you will be making more and more progress with her. Have you tried to get her to step up for you yet?
9. As I answered in a pm to you Jay yes it could have caused her feathers to come out especially in just one place but just keep an eye on her. You can give her any of the peppers and chillies, the heat generated by those that keep some of us away from them doesn't bother greys and some of them even love them so offer them if you like.
10. Hello Marshal and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could finally introduce yourself and we look forward to hearing more about you and Baby Beaky. I will have to scold you for allowing her to go inside your mouth, that is a very dangerous habit that you should stop now, the bacteria we have naturally in our mouths could make her very sick or kill her. Thats great that you have had her to the vet for a well check, it will help if and when she has any issues that come up in the future and most of us do take our greys in for a yearly checkup to stay on the safe side. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. You will also find lots of info about what to feed your grey in the bird food room and the nursery room. Thanks for sharing the video with us but it is an unsafe practice and feel free to add any pictures of Baby Beaky to your posts of you like, we love pictures.
11. I like Talon like to err on the side of caution, you just never know and there are other substitutes for cheap toys. Just my opinion:whistle:
12. Jess, Yoshi has plenty of time to start talking, mine didn't start until she was a year of age so be patient. Thanks for sharing that link with us, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
13. Thanks Steve, that link works. B)
14. I loved the part where he shoos Jake away from HIS toy, "its mine and I ain't sharing it" he looks up right at the camera too, thanks for sharing that with us Dan, loved it.
15. I won't say what I would have done to the man for this is a family forum but it wouldn't have been pretty:angry:

Re-bonding

I can't add anything to Dave's post as he knows exactly what you need to do so take his advice as it is spot on. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and Buddy.
17. Wow Mocha is growing so fast, love these pictures of him especially the one on his back, its the only one where he has his beak closed, looks like he is always ready to eat, he is getting more handsome by the day, thanks so much for sharing him with us.
18. Thank you so much Dave for that informing post on Chet Womach, yes I agree on the name change or maybe one like www.thereisoneborneveryminute .com or www.sucker .com
19. My laz-z-boy recliner works wonders, you should try it sometime Jill:whistle:  :side: B)
20. Amen Dan for what you said, I wholeheartedly agree so no "whipping" from me. Both of my birds are unclipped at the moment and one is capable of flight and the other needs more flights to come in before she will once again be flighted. It is a personal decision whether or not to clip but no one should chastise another for their decision to clip, some may have valid reasons for clipping and I can respect that but I expect others who do clip to respect other's decision to leave their bird flighted. We don't have to get into arguments here over it but I do agree that if you do clip that you have it done by an avian vet or someone you can trust to do it properly or damage will result. Before you make that decision to clip I would expect you to think long and hard before doing it for it takes a long time for all the flights to be replaced so that flight can be accomplished. Another point is a properly performed clip will allow a bird to sail to the floor without dropping like a rock but if that bird escapes to the outside that same bird will be able to fly enough to get up into a tall tree, it can and does happen all the time, just ask some of the members here about it.
21. I think Josey kind of growls instead of biting me to get her point across. It is not the loud frightening growl they make when they are truly scared but a low growl that lets me know she doesn't like what I am doing or doesn't want me handling her at that moment. I respect that and I don't push her so she has never resorted to biting me, lucky me.
22. I have many animals stuffed in my house compliments of my hubby, a proud hunter. There are numerous deer and other similar mounted heads, half a bear, full mounts of turkeys, ducks, goose, a mink, coyote, bobcat, coon and red fox and they are scattered over most of the house. In fact the majority of them are in the same room that my bird's cages reside and were there before the birds came and they are used to them being there. But that doesn't mean I would ever stuff one of my birds when they die, for one thing those animals we have stuffed were taken in the prime of their life and if I were to lose one of my birds it would probably be because they were sick or became injured and died as a result of that injury. But even if my bird died period for whatever reason I would never do that, she would be buried properly and I would have her memories and her pictures to cherish for the rest of my days.
23. Now my sun conure Sunny is a completely different story, she will bite in a heartbeat, she gets pissed easy and she bites me but has never drawn blood. She did bite one of my granddaughters though, didn't bring blood but it hurt like heck, left a mark for a while and to this day she can't stand to be near her.
24. Thanks David for that, I will be looking for that book.
