  1. No more Harley, now its Darius, it does seem to be more befitting of a regal bird, I like it.
  2. Sounds like you have made some progress and thats great, keep up the good work and keep us updated.
  3. Oh yeah she will climb all around her cage to check it out and like Dan said it won't take too long and she will be more used to you just be patient and it will happen.
  4. Oh well if he turns out to be a she no problem, I have heard of females called Charlie but if he is a she then you can't call them your 3 boys, can't wait to find out.
  5. Wow look at those feathers, he is really coming along nicely but I think you meant to put Aug 24 not Sept 24 at the beginning of the post, check that will ya Sanggay but thanks for sharing the pictures with us, can't wait to see the next ones.
  6. OMG KC, I think I would have freaked out but you did the right thing to stay calm, that probably helped to keep Lulu calm. That does look like an awful large amount of blood to have been lost by her but if the vet thinks she is ok then she is. I don't know about the bleeding out in 15 minutes but they don't have that much to start with so any loss could have devastating effects. Now I want to know why you were trimming her beak, I myself would never attempt to do that, my avain vet would be the one to trim Joseys but then he would know whether or not she needed it in the first place, may I suggest you leave that for those who are experienced in it. I don't think you are a bad parront but you may have made an unwise decision to trim Lulu's beak yourself but then that is my opinion.
  7. Thats really great what you have taught Bella to do, good job, thanks for sharing it with us. Now what are you gonna teach her next?
  8. I have a sun conure also and she will scream more when someone especially someone new comes to our house but she usually will quiet down if I get her out and let her sit on my shoulder. I figure she is just warning me about the people in my house. I have a grey also but the sun conure was there first and my grey does copy the conure scream but she doesn't do it to an extreme, just occasionally. Now she is the quiet one when anyone comes to the house, she just watches them and observes and usually doesn't say a word. A grey is going to copy a lot of what he/she hears and that includes any birds or other pets you have in your house along with your phone, microwave, timer, you name it they can copy it.
  9. Why don't you just leave her in her cage for a day or two for her to calm down, she is in new surroundings, new owner and new everything, she is a little overwhelmed at the moment. She needs some time to settle in and she is only reacting that way because she is a little afraid at the moment. Make sure she has food and water available and do sit by her cage and talk softly to her, tell her she is pretty, tell her about your day and whatever else you can think of, as she gets used to you then she will do better. Is she weaned? What is her name? Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this baby grey.
  10. Thanks so much Dave for sharing that with us, I absolutely loved it.
  11. J-Roc is a handsome grey, thanks for sharing that pic with us.
  12. Hello Lee and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Cocoa. Maybe he won't bite you if you don't go about it expecting a bite for they can sense any kind of fear but from what you have told us I think he will do fine. He justs needs a few days to settle in and he seems to have taken a liking to you so hopefully it will go without a hitch. He sounds like a lovely bird, well taken care of and for your sake I hope you do get to keep him but I understand that is not your decision. We do have loads of useful and helpful information in our many threads and we have some knowledgeable members that will be able to help you with any problems, all you have to do is ask questions. We do love pictures here so if you have some of Cocoa other than the one in your avatar we would love to see them.
  13. Debbie that is adorable what they do with those pictures of your birds, I will have to check out that site for myself, thanks for sharing it with us and sharing the pics of your "band"
  14. I love it Carol, it completes a beautiful bird room, wow I only wish I had something even close to what you have done for your birds, you are the envy of us here at greyforums. Thanks as always for sharing your handiwork with us.
  15. Dan and Dave have given you some excellent advice but it seems you need to find out more about greys so you will know what to expect, please browse thru this forum for it is loaded with useful information that will be of help to you. Also why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and this new grey.
  16. Poor Dave, hope it wasn't his favorite jacket but that is a great idea Jan for a bird toy but they probably wouldn't play with it, they prefer ours that are attached to clothing, go figure. Caroline, tell Dave you just happened to have the camera in your hand when you found Keeko, works for me:whistle:
  17. Chicken is a cutie all right, what a handsome fella he is and very proud of himself for his flying ability, thanks for sharing this pic with us. Ah, that is what happens sometimes but greys are notorious for picking their favorites but he still cares for you just not in the same way so don't feel too bad about it.
  18. Hello As1720 and welcome to our family, its so nice that you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Tango. So you are no stranger to greys having had one as a child but whether you go with a Cag or Tag they each have their own personality and individual traits but as you are more mature and knowledgeable now you will know how to handle them. You have a wide range of pets, an interesting mix with rats and snakes along with a cat and dogs but to each their own, I am more of a cat person myself having had at least one cat for most of my life, my interest in birds coming later in life. I also have a sun conure along with my 3 year old Cag. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and don't hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks so much for sharing a couple of pictures of Tango with us as we usually have to ask for them and I look forward to seeing some more after your visit today.
  19. Koko is enjoying that new toy, looks like you made the right choice, she is very pretty, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  20. What a great update on Yoshi, she sounds like a very sweet grey and she is doing just fine. Thats wonderful that you could take her along on your outing, she enjoyed it and it helps with socializing her, keep up the good work.
  21. I doubt they would keep your birds awake as there are bugs and other creatures in their natural habitat that would be making noise during the night. I bet if those crickets were in the room where your friend sleeps he/she would be more willing to get rid of them, right.
  22. Emma sounds like she might be getting too big for her britches, she is such a smart grey, maybe too smart, thanks for sharing that with us Adina.
  23. Hello Rain and welcome to our family, we are excited about your new found bird addiction also and we look forward to hearing more about you and your fids. We do share a love for our birds especially our greys, they are special creatures and its amazing how smart they really are. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We really love pictures here so if you have some of J-Roc you would share with us we would appreciate it and we have an other birds room where you can post some of Vegas and Doobie if you like.
  24. That is an interesting subject but I don't have the answer but I think I know someone who does and that is Dave007, he knows everything about the grey, maybe he will see this post and comment.
