Those are two adorable babies, which one is yours? Thanks for sharing them with us and it won't be long now.
-
They certainly can pick up a sound very quickly but just ignore it and in time she will do it less and less unless she hears it again:pinch:
-
I don't see how it could harm him, if he uses his left foot to hold everything then it is going to look more used, hence more stained by what he is holding, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hello Gill and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Bertie. Bertie does look fab, but then I have never seen a grey that wasn't, they are so adorable and once you have a grey you wonder how you ever managed to live without them. I take my grey into the shower and use a hand held nozzle on her, she does not like it but tolerates it, I wish she would open up her feathers but she won't so I do what I can to get her soaked. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them at your leisure and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks so much for including a picture of Bertie in your introduction post for if you don't we will ask for it, we love pictures here of each other's greys.

Hello Dirtybirdy and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Jiggy. What a cute name for your grey and he sounds like he is a lot of fun which they are. Do you have any other birds or is Jiggy an only bird? Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I can see he is a cutie from the pic in your avatar but if you have some more of him you would share with us we would love to see them.
-
Gill, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about you and your grey.
-
You might be stimulating him sexually if you are petting him from head to tail, we usually tell people not to pet their mature birds down the back, under the wings and around their tail especially the vent area.
-
Josey's water bowl is on the opposite side of the cage from her food dish also but usually the only time she will dunk is when she has some toys made with colored wood pieces and she would take those apart and dunked them into her water bowl to make the water the color of the dye, she made some pretty purple water a couple of times.:side:  :silly:

Your bird is doing the sucker punch, he lowers his head as if to invite a scratch and then when you get your hand there ready to scratch he turns his head and bites. Just stop trying to scratch him thru the bars and work on doing it when you have him out but watch for his body language as they usually have their eyes looking up if they are about to bite. How old is your grey and how long have you had him?
-
Mine does from time to time but it is not an everyday thing, I guess it just depends on whether she is in a dipping mood. Maybe if your grey has some foraging kind of toys that he has to work to get the treats out, we have some threads in the bird food room that may help you with ideas and suggestions. I see this is your first post, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and your grey, like what is his name?

I guess Chicken is fascinated with his ability to fly and who can blame him but if he refuses his feeding then he is ready to wean. Keep offering him fresh food as one day he may start eating it. Thats great that he is getting good at flying and I hope you are going to leave him flighted, it will take some work on your part but he will be more confident if he can fly, you will have to make your home grey safe for when he is out and about. Isn't it great to see him fly and bank and turn corners, you must be thrilled to death.

Wow you did get some cool looking toys Caitlin, those bird fairs usually have some great ones and as you found out hanging them in her cage is different from just playing with them on the table. I would have wanted to bring that Tag baby home too, its a sweet looking bird, thanks for sharing a pic of it and your new toys with us.

I don't think it "HAS" to be heated but it goes over food better if it is in a liquid state. I usually use mine straight out of the container but then I put it in something hot that ends up melting it. As far as the bite was concerned Roger, you scared her some when offering the extract and it just escalated from there, she needed some time to calm down and you immediately tried to get her to step up and she was having nothing to do with it so the bite happened. Once their "hackles are up" like that give them a little time to settle down before doing anything with them. That does look like a nasty bite but if you play it right the next time it may not happen again but glad to hear she is back to her normal self.

I think you just solved your own problem, putting them inside a tube they cannot destroy would be the best thing to do since you don't want to remove the blinds alltogether, maybe some type of pvc pipe would do the job very nicely.

You have only had this bird for 24 hours or so, he needs more time to get used to you and being in new surroundings, greys are very cautious of new things so be patient with him. Greys do shake or quiver their chest feathers, it could be he is scared but you will find out that he does this at other times too but it is normal for them to do it. He is throwing his food when taking it from you because you are strange to him and that is his way of showing you he is doesn't trust you yet. Building that trust and bonding with you will take some time so don't rush it, he may be more accepting of his food if you put it in his food bowl. If there are other members of your household then they should all be involved with him, he needs to be socialable with all of the "flock" meaning you are part of his family now. Greys tend to choose their favorites and he may very well choose another member of the family but if you are the one to give treats and do most of the work with him then chances are good he will bond with you. Just keep talking to him and tell him about things, tell him what you are doing at the moment and when you are leaving and so forth, they understand more than what we give them credit for. Others will come along and give you some more ideas and suggestions but you are doing fine so far.

This new baby bird is something new to Koko, you know that greys are very cautious of anything new so she just doesn't know what this little black thing is that is making all that funny noise. To her it could be an alien trying to jump out and eat her, give her some more time to get used to her and they will be fine, who knows they may even become friends or at least tolerate each other. After hearing the video you shared of the mynah baby I can imagine what Koko thinks this is a creature from hell and she wants no part of at the moment but time will tell.

Hello Hill and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your bird. BTW, what is his/her name? There is no guarantee that every grey will talk, there are a few that never will and if yours has never talked at 19 months of age he/she may never talk but it is too early to tell. Most that do talk will do so by age 1 year as did mine and some talk much earlier but some will take longer and maybe yours fits that category but time will tell. There are so many other amazing features about the grey that even if they do not talk they are awesome creatures to have around. If mine didn't talk I would love her all the same so don't base everything on the fact that they are good talkers. You will need to read thru as many of the threads as you can to learn lots of useful information about the grey and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of your grey you would share with us we would appreciate it.

Just give her a little more time, most if not all greys love having their neck scratched and she will again, maybe she is just loving the beak rubbing so much she is accepting it more at the moment so be patient.
-
Yes I think you will find your grey will like very much having her beak rubbed, I rub Josey's every day, their beak is sensitive to being touched so by all means do it.
-
Yes you two have "crazy" birds but we love them, keep on sharing their antics with us and thanks for sharing these with us.
-
Yes she was Robin, having a greyt time, thanks for sharing that with us.
-
They are Jan but a taste or two won't hurt them if you don't do it too often. That shot makes me want some ice cream, thanks for sharing that cute pic of Misty with us.
-
Congrats on bringing your baby grey home and he is an adorable baby, what a cutie, a baby named Blue, thanks for sharing a pic of him with us.

That is sick but it only proves some peole were definitely standing behind the door when brains were handed out, they thought they said train so they hid behind the door! What is a "right tosser" must be an UK phrase?
