1. Overcast, it is pouring down rain here right now but take him out every chance you get so he associates good times to be had when he sees the pack but of course it comes in handy when going to the vet too.
2. Congrats on your new additon to the flock and Ziggy is a cute name and goes along with Zazu, you must be beaming with pride for those two greys. We would love to see some pictures of Ziggy if you have some you would share with us.
3. Looks like Chimay had a good time and got a little sun too, thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Thats a great idea to replace the perch that comes with it with something they can hold onto better, I imagine that plastic perch can be slippery especially if it gets wet.
4. "Stupid is as stupid does"  sorry I couldn't resist:blush: HIC is referring to hiccups that you tend to have when drunk, at least that is what I interpret it to mean, correct me if I am wrong Bernie.
5. What a great update on Stazel, she is starting to settle into her new home and it sounds like you are doing great with her, I can imagine that more and more of her true personality will become evident as time goes by. About the fruits and vegetables, they should have more veggies than fruit, in fact I wouldn't even feed fruits every day but the veggies I would. Thats interesting about the dog, I would love to be a fly on the wall when you tell the dog's owner about the puppies. I would still be a little leery of taking Stazel outside even with clipped wings for if she was startled by something she might surprise you with what she can really do, I wouldn't want to take any chances.
6. Who needs a paper shredder when you have a grey but she has a nasty habit of not putting all the strips in one spot for easy disposal but we are working on it.
7. Yes a vet visit for sure and he probably is in some pain but it is natural for them to not cry out in pain as that would surely bring predators in the wild. Plus Caroline speaks from experience as she just recently had pretty much the same problem with one of hers. Be sure to keep us posted on how he is.
8. Ok so we finally settled the mystery, Buddy IS a cherry head conure but a young one that his entire head is not red yet, I was beginning to think neither one of you knew, glad we got that settled. He does look a little intimidating with that beak of his but he is pretty, can't wait to see what he will look like when he gets his full red cap.
9. Oh boy, pictures, yes we would love to see those pictures and Steve Hartman sounds like a wonderful breeder who knows his business.
10. Dave gave a good suggestion for curing a grey from flying to your head, swat him out of the air when he does that, not hard enough to hurt him but just enough to knock him off balance and he will eventually learn not to do that.
11. I know, its almost like a Jekyll and Hyde transformation, one minute they are as sweet as sugar and the next they are beating the crap out of a toy or in particular a bell and being very violent with it, I guess it can be a little unnerving to someone who doesn't know greys very well.
12. Just look at those babies, they are adorable, wish I could have one but I will settle for admiring other's macaws, thanks Jay or Maggie for sharing them with us.
13. Your grey is pretty much grown as far as weight is concerned, he might lose a little when he fledges but at around 485 grams he is one of the larger greys, my Josey weighs around 420 but there are some that weigh in around 600.
14. Yoshi is a smart bird, I knew she would find her food when she got hungry so don't be a worry wart.
15. I can see why you had a good time Bernie, thanks for sharing some pictures with us and now that the pressure is off you can post some more when you get around to it.
16. Thats great to know, I would imagine it all depends on their personality, if they are an active grey when young then more than likely they will continue to be, thanks for chiming in.
17. I like them both Jay, thanks for sharing them with us?

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2009/08/21 20:33
18. Bring both and make them big ones.
19. I am sure Yoshi will be fine, just give him a few days to settle into his new home, everything is new to him right now and he is taking it all in. He will find his food and water when he gets hungry but otherwise he sounds like he is doing just fine.

21. I wholeheartedly agree that allowing a grey to learn to fly at an early age goes a long way to making them more confident and a better flyer than clipping them early to have them have to regrow those flights and then learn to fly at a later age.
22. James, I would imagine Ronnie misses you a lot when you are gone even though he has two homes, he probably considers you his favorite and he is showing his displeasure at your absence by plucking. Sorry to say that this is the reaction of some greys when stressed out by circumstances and once they start to pluck it is hard to get them to stop. I don't have much advice to offer as I have never experienced a plucking bird but we do have a lot of threads that deal with this issue, all you need to do is perform a search to find them and maybe some of them will be helpful to you. Also other members who have some experience with this will have some suggestions for you too.
23. Are those the names of your pet greys or breeder greys?
24. I would offer more vegetables than fruit, in fact you don't need to give him fruit every day either, they usually will eat the fruit over the veggies as it is usually sweeter but there is more nutrition in the veggies. Otherwise it sounds like you are providing a varied diet. I leave pellets available at all times for my grey, she snacks on them throughout the day. If palm nuts are not available to you then you can get red palm oil to drizzle over their food or mix in soft foods, it has vitamins in it and it helps with their feathers and overall well being. It is a staple of their diet in their natural habitat.
25. It just took her a little time to get used to it but wow she loves it doesn't she, I also noticed she must have liked that picture frame in the first picture of the toy, you can see where she was chewing on that, thanks for sharing the video with us.
