  1. Those pictures are so precious, he just opens his beak and the food falls in, no mess with this one, Mocha is getting more handsome as the days go by, thanks for sharing them with us.
  2. Well thats good news and bad news, good that Darius doesn't have any diseases but bad that he has to be quarantined another 30 days but it will be worth it when its over. You give him some extra cuddling and I send some hugs to you too Pat, hang in there for 30 days will pass very quickly.
  3. This is something you are going to have to stop as this can be very harmful to your bird. It never ceases to amaze me what some people will do with their birds, they are so ignorant to not know this is a dangerous practice. I am not coming down on you, just the person who owned this grey before you rescued it. Put her food in her bowls in her cage and she will eat when she gets good and hungry.
  4. Josey is 3 years old also, she was 3 in May, Lyric is a beautiful bird, you must be so proud of him, thanks for sharing a pic of him with us and happy hatchday Lyric.
  5. Hello Matthew and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Charlie. Do you know a lot about Charlie's past and owners? That will help you to understand a lot of his personality and how to handle him. I assume he was talking when you acquired him and he is smart, it still amazes me how clever they really are and they understand a lot of what we say to them. Be sure to read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I can't wait to see some pictures of Charlie so don't keep us waiting too long, I can get impatient.
  6. I'm not so sure she should be eating any of your nail polish, it could be toxic to her if she ingests any.
  7. """"btw, it took her weeks to get used to my nail polish on me =p thats how afraid she is of new things """ Yes they notice the smallest things, I don't usually wear nail polish but one night I did and still had it on the next morning, well when I went to get her out she freaked when she saw my fingers so I had to remove it and then she was ok. No they don't poop every 10 steps to mark their territory, they do poop about every 10 to 15 minutes during the day but hold it all night then let go of a big bomb in the morning.
  8. I may have purchased my adventure pack from flying south, don't really remember for it has been nearly two years ago but I don't recall having any problem but I won't use them in the future.
  9. What do you mean by loud, are there lots of people in the house, are they coming and going constantly? Yes that could be stressful for her and she will pick up those curse words too. I would be careful of trimming the beak, only someone with experience like your avian vet should do that, we just had a member trim his grey's beak and she bled profusely and had to be rushed to the vet.
  10. I won't be of much help because my grey never bites me but she is not the cuddly bird like some others either. She usually will nudge me or maybe grumble a little when she doesn't want to do something, she has never taken to biting me to tell me something. I know all greys are individuals and some here have greys that are very cuddly, most are more so when they are babies and then as they mature they don't want that closeness any more. Are you your grey's favorite person for usually that person doesn't get bit as often as another member of the household? Are you able to read your grey's body language? Usually most people can tell when a bite is coming by reading the signals a grey sends. That head scratch your grey is asking for then turns around and bites is called the sucker punch and usually you can tell that by the direction of the eyes, if they are looking up then a bite is more likely coming. I wish I could tell you something to help you but Dave is the person to ask for help on this subject as he knows the greys very well, he has had pets and breeder greys for many years and he knows them inside and out. I do know one thing, if you suspect a bite is coming ball your hand up into a fist, it will make the skin tight on the back and your bird will be less likely to get a good grip, at least that is the theory.
  11. Well Pat you know that toy will be a hit if he took it right from you but wait until he finds what you have done with it, be sure to take a pic of it with him, I want to see it and of course you know we always want to see more pics of Darius.
  12. Harvey looks so innocent in that second pic, he is a little scroundrel and trying your patience but you got to love him with a face like that, thanks for sharing those pictures with us.
  13. Thats so cute of them, Koko is tasting Mocha, I wonder what he thought he tasted like but he must have liked it and now he wants to be scratched, he must approve of him, thanks for sharing those pics with us.
  14. Just look at those shiny black feathers, Mocha is getting more handsome as the days go by, looking forward to tomorrow's installment.
  15. That is so cute and I would imagine you will start hearing a lot more now that he feels comfortable enough to start talking. He looks to be enjoying a neck scratch too, thanks for sharing the picture with us.
  16. Glad to hear from you again Renate we have missed ya. Congrats on your new member of the flock and a lovely looking one at that. Thats unusual about the whining at bedtime, must be a comfort thing and maybe he/she will outgrow it. Thanks for sharing a picture of your new fid and anxious to hear what the name will be.
  17. Yes her cage needs to be in the room where you spend most of your waking time, she needs to feel she is part of the family and she wants to be where all the action is taking place, my bird's cages are in the family room where we spend most of the time when at home. She just wants to be a part of the "flock" and you are that for her.
  18. Shelia is right, you will have to place something on top of the tv to scare him off of it, it could be a stuffed animal or anything that would sit on top, as he gets used to it then you might have to change it to something else from time to time but other than that you will have to just keep taking him off of it every time he goes there.
  19. Thats the way it is with these birds, Josey will allow me to do most anything to her but not my hubby, she will go to him at times and give him kisses but if he goes to scratch her neck its back off for thats mommy's job.
  20. What a beautiful baby Yoshi is, she likes the camera don't you think, my favorite is the one where she is cuddling, she is adorable, thanks for sharing these pictures with us and now we can look forward to seeing more of her.

    Gracie

Your sun conure will get over it but he may never like Gracie, my sun doesn't much care for Josey either and I have to keep a certain distance between them when they are out but otherwise they are fine with each other. Give him a little more time and he will come around.
  22. Pat you will never be able to think of apples again without thinking of Adaya repeating it over and over and over and over, well you get the picture:whistle:  :woohoo:
  23. Mr Pekoe looks like my Sunny, she is about 4 1/2 years old and she was my first parrot. Mr Pekoe was probably rehomed so many times because of their scream, some people can't take that but it doesn't bother me, she doesn't do it all the time. Thanks for sharing a pic of him with us, I just love their bright colors.
  24. I've never hand fed a bird before but I would try her again tomorrow night and see if she refuses it, if she does then it sounds to me like she is weaned but some other members will be able to tell you more about it. You can also look around the nursery room for some threads that deal with this very subject.
  25. I just bet they are a handful Jay but they are gorgeous birds, I can imagine you are having the time of your life with these three, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
