  2. hey trish welcome to the forums there is so much information ... yanno its funny i totally feel the same about Marco I am also a first time bird/grey owner ... we never grew up with anything but cats and dogs cuz my mom is scared of birds so it was very out of the norm for me to want a bird but now that she is home and part of our lives OMG she was the best decision Ive ever made. I really love our late nite cuddle time it will get better for you as Dakota begins to trust you all and do more it will be so much fun for your family cant wait to see pics!

  6. marco does alot of "clicky" sounds and kissy sounds and shes got the wolf whistle down pat!!!! already at 5 months old. some times she tries so hard to talk its really cute ... but she'll sit and just stare at me as I talk to her like a little sponge absorbing what I say its amazing her attention.
  7. great pic of Phx welcome to the family ... Marco is the same way soon as I get to scratching behind her head shes sound asleep! cant wait to hear more bout your flock
  8. oh goodness and FALLS are super easy for them ! Marco took a tumble off the top of the cage over the weekend and fell between the wall and the cage thankfully she is ok but it happens so quickly! we started to play the "towel peek a boo game" and just putting anything over her head she takes it well and nips at it in fun hopefully if I ever need to, she'll be ok with it.
  9. Well its nice to see you again good luck w/the birdsitting :D

  10. great pic welcome to the family tango!
  11. tree stands or play stands are excellent! definately look into getting/making one
  12. have you tried just opening the cage and letting your baby come out as it wants to?
  13. I found there was not only ALOT to learn but alot to prepare before my baby came home. Specially since she is my first and only bird Ive ever owned ... tell us more about yourself and your situation etc so we can help you better! Definate advice read read read !!!!!
  14. heres a question speaking of "teddy bears" .... do any of your greys have a stuffed animal that they like or that they play with? marco seems to like the feel of a towel but not of a stuffed animal
  15. you arent "frying" the fries right? keep offering all the things she "isnt" eating right now to her. I havent gotten marco to like sweet potatos yet but I keep tryin and I hide them in like birdie bread LOL marco dont like my boys either she definately growls and nips at them and like you I just keep saying "keep trying" but at the same time, dont push it and read her body language. I would think as long as you cleaned them really well b4 cooking the quick method would be ok
  16. wow wow great and funny story! I love that:D I have so much to look forward to I cant wait!
  17. Marco likes to preen my hair and as of late ... keeps tryin to perch atop my head  LMAO at gravity fascinated! That is the funniest thing ... I think its just amazing that kallie watches the paper and stuff drop! Marco hasnt started that ...
  18. Marco is totally doing the same thing here as well. She is bonded with me for sure. When hubby wants her she screams and bites but he is still is able to at the very least have her step up and sit. As long as he doesnt try to love on her or pet her, she is content to atleast sit on his hand. I let hubby take Marco off my shoulder or where ever we are sitting at nite (round bedtime) and put Marco in her cage every night. That is "his" little ritual with her and she accepts it. She squawks alot in protest but then resigns to the fact that its ok and its bedtime. I make sure that he talks to her the whole time hes carrying her to the cage saying its bedtime and night night, and he even has his own little whistle call that he shares with her. Thats the best he can do for now and hes "ok" with that .... he tells the boys all the time "Thats your mothers bird" lolol :D I think its kinda cute when he is holding her she is lookin at me like ... How long do I have to sit here with him mom? LOL Maybe she would act a wee bit better if I wasnt in the same room when he worked with her. We'll have to try that out!
