yeahhhhhhhhhh welcome home cute pics

I havent really noticed a huge smell sometimes w/the dogs in the same room you just got a pet odor and not necessarily a bird odor ... when i get cuddle time with marco at nite i LOVE the way her wings smell :-s maybe Im just weird! lol
-
lol I dont have the answer for that. I sometimes wonder tho, how much they truly pick up from music/tv. I dont leave anything on for my bird while Im at work I figure the dogs are entertainment enough for her
-
Marco totally does that as well. At first I too thought it was a yawn, then I thought omg shes choking but when I knew she wasnt eating I just watched her and came to the conclusion perhaps shes stretching her "vocal" muscles n stuff. I didnt take her to the vet for it. She still does it but not nearly as much.

I have babywipes in like every room LOL from the floor to the counter to her birdstand ... they work great. I try however to make sure something is always under her if shes on the couches cuz Id much rather wash a towel then scrub poop offa my couch lol (that doesnt always work) she likes to grab the towel and mess it up lol

holy smokes that is a huge flock !!!!!!!!!! I can barely keep up with 1 bird lol ..... welcome cant wait to see pics

awww your pics are GREAT!!!! love it and welcome home pepper. I did find that what marco didnt like today, she would like tomorrow. the first time I gave her a chicken bone she was the same, the second time she destroyyyyyyyed it. I think its a mood thing lol congrats to yoU!

great looking pics .... looks like he's settling down and adjusting well. Is that cheetah print wallpaper? I love it!
-
no not at all ... as touchy a subject as this is, I believe you have to do what is best for YOU and your bird and your home and lifestyle. Marco is trimmed as well and it hasnt stopped her one bit from flying all over this place! She just cant get to the top of anything. Trust me, I had the door open bringing something in that scared her cuz it made a loud noise I was INSIDE the door frame, she was across the room on her boing and she BOLTED towards the door I tried to stop her but she fly thru my arms and straight outside IT WAS SCAREY! but because she wasnt fully flighted she only made it across the street into the grass for a crash landing I hate to think how badly that could of turned out for me.

My first thought was (when choosing a name) something that could be "either way" for a boy or girl, but the pet store insisted they could tell he was a boy cuz oh he has a flat head  .. blah blah so then we had our hearts set on Marco ... course when the results came in 11 weeks later and was told SHE was a girl .... I was like well ... shes now a girl named MARCO !!!!!!!!!!! lol But whatever you call him, you'll have 100 nicknames for him as well. Marco's latest nic is beanface for after she eats and beans are smooshed all the way up her beak lol its funny~! -
awwww hi there and welcome to the forum. Casper sounds like hes got a great new forever home how lucky for him! Such a nice looking bird! Sounds like you are definately doing good things and making great strides with him. your pics are just lovely we love pics

lol OH BOY .... Marco hasnt gotten that brave YET  good luck .. sounds like you gotta keep eyes in the back of your head when shes out lol -
that is so funny we have alot in common I too wanted a beautiful outdoor aviary and its just not high on the list or the enclosed front porch. Unfortunately the shed has moved ahead of everything else right now then the new ac installation (this fall) maybe next summer for my stuff eh? its ok tho. For the most part I do say that yes Marco likes it outside. I immediately started to take her outside when I first got her home. Sometimes she holds on with a death grip other times not so much. If we are sitting in the chair on the porch in the shade she seems VERY content as aposed to me walking round the yard holding her. The noises are an attraction for her of course. I havent had to worry about loud loud noises being I live in the country at the end of a dirt road so we are typically a quiet place but if my kids are home working on the mud truck or the neighbor is out on the 4wheeler I wouldnt keep her outside for fear she attempt to fly off in fear. so much to be cautious about and course shes always on her harness outside. As far as the toys ... seems the cheaper/homemade jobbers are definately high entertainment as much as the $35 so we have been REALLLLLY crafty at home I must say
-
phew ... I will talk to my vet see if they offer the service seems smart thing to do, they dont have to put them asleep or nothing do they?
-
only my kids call me the crazy bird lady ... OHHHH how i wish I had a screened in front porch to take marco out on its on my wish list (someday ) with the shed that needs built for hubby and other things on there that we need, my screened in front porch is at the bottom of that list! but thats ok, she has her harness and she'll sit outside on the chair with me and I bought a cage at an auction that Im "re-doing" for her so she can stay outside and be protected!
-
gosh Im so glad that your baby didnt break a leg. i have tried to get myself into the habit of once i get marco out or once she comes out to shut and lock that cage door cuz there has been some close calls of her doing that same exact thing she is amused by moving her cage door w/her beak and its only a matter of time b4 she hurts herself so ... thats what I try to do is lock it once shes out
-
Well my boys havent moved out yet and I do think Marco is much more happy definately in the same room I am in. Ive often thought once my oldest moves out of taking his room and dedicating it to the "bird room" but I dont think Id like not having her out with me where I can just sit n watch her and her antics and talk to her. So in the only "living space" we have there is her huge cage, a tree stand on wheels and her boing hanging in the corner lol and it works for us... I think to make more space Im going to get rid of the coffee table just to open it up a bit more

what a great story! just puts a smile on your face to read it .... i love the name gabby too ...! I wish marco did the laying on her back thing .. maybe I can teach her that over time once more trust n stuff is built up. -
aww that is really great! those things make ya feel so good dont they? :D I love the playstand! I wish I had room like that in my house probably a good thing I dont or it would be loaded with parrot stuff lol
-
sounds like great progress! one day at a time! it builds the trust and bond between you both! I am so short that I use a great perch that I have extra to get Marco from the top of her playtop cage cuz I cant even reach that high and she knows to step up on that when I raise it to her. The rest of the time she really doesnt get to fly up high. Shes more a steady coaster to the ground lol then the dogs run for their lives when she lands and starts walking round. lol
-
well I really do try to give her as best as I can and I too keep any additional seeds/pellets in the fridge/freezer so it stays as fresh as possible! she really likes both of her pellets and seeds so a bowl is only lasting about 2 days heck she even really likes her fresh veges shes a pretty good eater!
