  1. omg I know rite .... its bad nuff my kids mumble under their breath but now so does marco LOL
  2. the good news is your baby is still young so theres lots of time to bond still ....
  3. OH goodness Marco gets only a few chances and if she continues her "nawty" behaviour its definate removal ... shes learned to crawl down the cage and hop onto the little couch next to it (where I am usually at) and the cords to my computer are apparently "CALLING TO HER" and it happened so fast ... 1 chomp and she nearly chewed thru 1 cord so now she tests me lol gets close brings her head towards opens her beak I said NO (very sternly) and she'll stop look at me like Wha? after 2 or 3 more times ... bam ... its back on the cage she goes! But I cant take my eyes off her for a second when shes near those cords cuz it happened in a blink not only that my computer is usually on I dont want her getting hurt! But the same applies to the back of the couch, she go for my bra strap thru my shirt and she finds that plastic piece and Im sure she can snap that no problemo (sorry guys I know TMI) I tell her no once 2nd time she gets moved! As far as the shirt/holes go... I change my clothes when I get home so if she chews them or poops on them lol Im ok with it ....
  4. totally believe in just opening the cage and allowing your pet to come out on its own instead of taking the nips sounds like a perfect solution! I let marco do EITHER lol I just go with what shes "giving me" in energy times she just grab my hand other times shes climbing the cage door on her own and I just let her ...
  5. Hey there Im going to only answer with what I know I am by far NO expert however ... I have had Marco now for almost 9mos and she is almost 1 YEAH!!!!!!!! So first of all ... youve only had your baby for 2 weeks the first word I think they teach you here is "PATIENCE". You need to move at Charlies speed and that takes time. So much has happened already, give him time you got lots of years with him. Secondly Ive learned that these birds typically bond with either another bird or a human. Sadly as that is, the "other" people in your house will have to learn to accept that they might not be the one to always handle Charlie. This doesnt mean there cant be interaction between them however. And lastly ............... READ THE WARNING SIGNS your bird is giving you before someone gets bit!!!! especially if he is head butting, puffin up, lowering his head or even growling!!! My children are prime example (they are 19 & 18) Marco is bonded with me, tolerates hubby and hes able to handle her just fine but she'll nip at him but he doesnt give up, hes always talking with her and playing with her and handling her and shes accepted that however she always keeps an eye on me when he has her (which i think is cute) but my children.... they havent tried at all to create a bond with her and just go over and think they can just pick her up cuz shes a "bird" and shes definately lets them know that aint gonna happen. So I tell you that not to discourage you but to tell you that its going to take time and time and time and 2 weeks aint nothing! Let your baby settle in, learn your schedule. Marcos cage is loaded with toys and she has boxes of foot toys when shes on the ground to play with. Toys that are shreddable that make a mess and others that dont. You'll find what works best for you and find that balance just dont give up! sounds like you are doing all the right things ...just give it time.
  6. gosh I dont know but she sure is pretty!
  7. I was going to ask the same question about the humidifier situation I didnt know how long I should leave it on etc but by the sounds of it, its all the time to keep the humidity in the house at a specific level. I was so concerned with making sure the temp was ok I forgot about the humidity LOL. theres always tons of these little tiny whispy feathers floating in the air at the house!
  8. lol totally ... how can you not love them regardless :D:D
  9. lol that is so funny i wouldnt of even of thought of that till you said shortening to frankie ... which is totally cute ... we started calling marco super pooper :( LOLOL
  10. awwww hes so tiny! or looks it ... smiles pretty baby fun times are ahead
  11. when I called about it ... they said your baby had to be atleast 6mon old ... so definately ask alot of questions when you call them!
  12. aww what a FUN story ... welcome!
  13. exactly how I feel ... very well put! TY I also from time to time do the cloves/cinnamon and orange slices and I think a bay leaf and its a very nice "christmassy" type smell I like it
  14. OMG Marco totally does that too, just hangs there and screams its usually by a toenail too and I think shes gonna come plumitting down and loose grip but she hasnt so far ... but I just chalk it up to her playing and its usually if the toy has a bell on it oh man she flips out! It does look like Romeo is doing very well and his feathers will grow back and look spectacular, he looks better already
  15. marco loves to be sung to .... she'll sit with her eyes half closed its really sweet and then sometimes she chimes in LOL good luck to you cant wait to see pics... does your bird have a name?

  19. Im so confused (and it dont take much ) whats the difference from a candle or a plug in to a diffuser? I mean its still the scent in the air that I thought was not good... Regardless .. I have chosen to get rid of ALL of it and like most I miss it, but I love my fid to much to even run that risk!
  20. Hope the east coasters are doing ok! check in when you can
  21. I have to admit that is what I do with Marco as well if she ever makes a BITE that harmed me or someone else it is a definate "time out" with a firm NO BITE and back to the cage (for a short time) .
  22. great advice ... In my OWN little experience which is VERY limited ... I can handle Marco allllllllll day long as far as getting her on my hand, moving her from cage to boing or tree stand or whatever. I can play with her with toys but DEAR GOD dont pet her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is on her OWN time and that time is about 9pm and later when she finally bows her head down and wants that quiet time loving and so Im ok with that. and I like to snuggle with her late at night before bedtime and Ive had her stand near me for an hours worth of head scratches and if I STOP!?!?! she'll make 1 quick chirp like HEY ... Im not done yet and I'll scratch some more and stop and she'll chirp again infact LOL I got it on cam I'll post soon! Shes a nut but its definately on HER terms and I dont pet anywhere else but her head/neck area. Marco has also gone for nails but really since having her home hasnt done anything more then "beaking" or playing with me and my fingers and course I try never to be scared of her coming towards me or my hands even if its with her beak first lol. Sounds like you have great patience tho, hang in there it will come .
  23. hey hey welcome to you and your family! I totally think your occupation ROCKS! cant wait to see pics
