Marco was "sposed to be" a boy hence the name but after DNA confirmed she was a girl the name just sorta "stuck" regardless and she'll be 2 <gasps> Dec 23rd. Shes been a lot of fun I dont know if my aunts birds prepared me or not, but here I am the "crazy bird lady" myself now lol.

Hmmm, I hope as the days progress things get easier for you. You might consider the perch as Dave has suggested instead of gloves. Hopefully you have started to talk lots to kuku and just remember patience, it takes time and for many that is more then days its weeks and months to progress. Hang in there

if you want to know what types of toys are the best, maybe each bird is a lil different but I can tell you anything that can shred is one of marco's favorite type of toy, she also loves anything with wood in it or plastic. I havent seen her respond well to any type of leather or cloth like material. Just a helpful hint, sometimes some of the funnest toys and cheapest are ones you make from home like coffee filters and toilet paper rolls etc.

gotta love them beeps, Marco has had me in the kitchen opening the microwave after hearing it beep, has had me checking the washing machine after she makes the beeps and has had me lookin for the cordless phone after making the beeps all 3 of them different sounds as well!!!

Ahhhh well then you already know how much fun they can be and things to expect. Marco is my first Grey and first bird ever. I grew up scared of birds I can remember my aunt having them and letting them fly all over the house and I would just cry going over there sure one would land on me lol. Geeze NOW look at me !!!!!

Great advice given here I dont know that Marco really does this or maybe I have chosen to ignore it lol. She likes to do the whistles when I leave the room and I'll whistle back or talk back but normally she knows Im in the kitchen and she just will ramble on a little rant of words until I get back.

Marco flies off if you bring in a LARGE object doesnt matter what it is, box, furniture, heck my son brought out his pillow from his bedroom (its really big) and she took off flying. I dont think she has a fear of the colors like ya'll are talking bout.

Marco will nap bout twice a day but not for any great length of time. You can see her eyes heavy and blinking slower n slower. She clicks her beak when shes really tired but that is mostly at bedtime only I havent seen Marco tuck her head I dont think but she does raise a leg.

When I first got Marco and saw her preening/cleaning I freakeddddddd out just like you. I would sit and watch her cuz I thought the same thing. Since then I have learned to relax and find that she likes to look good I moved the tv stand the other day and like the others I could not believe how many lil fluffy feathers were back there !!!!!!!!

FUNNY STUFF! well add me to the list as a bad bad parront! ABUSER !!!!!!!!! Im sure Marco can totally relate Pepper, she dont get to chew on nothing fun either lol

Marco goes to bed when I do then up about 530am various naps but nothing of any length in time. You'll see her eyes closed and shes resting but a noise and they pop open. But at home when Im at work she might nap longer. She usually closes her eyes and chatters away for about 15 min. thats when I know shes really tired lol

lotta great ideas! the perch is what I use when Marco is up high but then easily transfer her to my hand but you might try all these ideas. its great to hear that Paco is coming to you that is encouragement. once you figure out all their quirks and they get used to you hopefully there will be less bites. I think Ive only had maybe 2 with Marco and both times were in FEAR, Ive not experienced the poker face and head down yet, but she'll just be hitting the terrible 2's by December where I hear things can and usually do change in them. Oh and your pics were GREAT !!!!!!! :D

Meeee too! Just recently has Marco started to play in her water bowl as well maybe half a dozen times so far. Or that Ive caught her doing. I was thinking about using a larger pan and seeing if she really goes for it but it just seems random times. But she definately loves the water.
