Did your tiel put his/her wings back in sort of a heart shape? It almost looks like they're standing up straight with their wings flat. If so, that is called heart wings and is a male behavior.

She's gorgeous! Isn't it funny how so many people on here got there birds for being 'vicious' and they turned out to be sweet as can be?

Just out of curiosity, why don't you turn them off when the birds are out? Accidents are always a possibility.

I do hope you have the fans turned off when the birds are out? I have those fans as well, but they remain OFF when the cages are open.

Hehe, is it possible that some youngin's fed your Grey crackers when they saw him outside and now he has lost taste for anything healthy?

Hi Markus! I, too, live at home with my parents.I'll be getting my degree in May though, so hopefully I move out soon! (along with getting my grey) What made you want a Grey specifically? I just wanted to add that after getting Shelby, my cockatiel, I got Jon mostly to keep him company. Of course, they hate each other. If you're going to get a second bird, get him/her because you want to expand your flock. You'll never know how one bird will get along with another.

I'm writing a novel that is part political and part fantastical. I've been writing it since I was 12. I've written possibly around fourteen thousand pages, and I have liked perhaps fifty. When I should be writing I seem to be stuck reading the backlogs on this forum. I've been teased my whole life about my love for animals. Especially the fact that I participate in companion animal rat rescue. I used to often joke that I was a teenage mother. Now I'm old.

Haha thanks! I'll do some research, but in the meantime I threw out all the pinata toys I bought from that brand. A little paranoia never hurt anyone!

My avian vet likes me to bring my parrots in every six months...although Shelby has been twice so far (he had a bit of an accident with his toe).

I think the best thing to do is to take your Grey to the vet. A checkup and some blood work will rule out anything that could have been caught outside.

My Senegal loves toys that can be shredded, so I love to get him those pinata toys that have the treats in them. On Friday I gave Jon this toy: A few minutes ago I went to check on my birds when I saw these tiny black bugs flying all around his cage. I freaked out and changed the paper (which I had changed this morning) and took the pinata out. The bugs seemed to disappear after I caught the few in his cage and threw out the paper/pinata. Is it possible that this toy had some sort of colony of flying black bugs in it? Is there some sort of treatment I should give Jon in case he ate any?

My Jon does this as well. He will grab my finger, bob his head back forth rapidly, then throw up some of his food into my hand for me. I'm honored, really.

Also, what's with the "if you ask if he's still available I won't contact you, just give a number or not". Hey, I'm in the NYC area, so I'm checking craigslist for ads for a grey and two macaws, just in case this person decides to drive a few hours to sell them. From the way you're putting it, it sounds like after the Grey was stolen, they put the macaws out on the porch again. Am I getting this wrong or..?

When I clicked this thread I thought something had gone wrong (because Butters from South Park always says 'oh Hamburgers!') Maybe he wants you to switch to bocca!

It makes sense to me that, if Grey's have the intelligence of a five year old, they'd enjoy movies geared towards young kids!
