I read a study once where a horrible scientist would put one rat in pain, and studied how his rat friend reacted. It proved that rats have empathy. I'm sure birds feel the same way. I'm sure that whatever happened, that little yellow birds friend stayed with him/her.

Hey now, I watched an episode of that show "my strange addiction" where a woman ate comet cleaner every day. Maybe you left it on and Sully wanted to try it? hehe! Both my birds were clipped when I first got them. I had planned to keep them clipped but then Shelby grew his flights out. Sure, it has been a huge risk keeping him flighted before I move out of my parents house (where there are three large dogs, and a cage full of rats that share the same room) but to see him fly around, whistling gleefully...I couldn't take that away from him. I won't be clipping Jon either, or my future grey. Of course...I am moving to a one bedroom apartment where the whole living room, kitchen, and bathroom are going to be bird proofed so they have free run of it. The bedroom door will stay closed, because that is where I will be keeping my rats/future mammal pets. EDIT: Also, I don't see a poll anywhere EDIT2: Ah, it showed up.

The point of this thread is to help the OP find Murphy, and for the members of this forum to offer comfort and support. I have not been here very long, but I do not think this is the time or the place for the to clip or not to clip argument. Let us all please just try and keep our thoughts on Murphy.

Welcome! This community has raised my knowledge of birds so much! I am sorry to hear about your Tiel. Mine as well says 'Pretty Bird' and 'Shelby' all day long. My Shelby and my Senegal Jon don't get along, so they get out time at separate times. It seems like my Jon, your Conure is possessive. Do you think he'd be okay with a Grey entering the home? It's a concern I've had.

Where did you get them? I've seen them around but they're so expensive!

I keep trying to get my Shelby to talk on video. The only way I've ever been able to do is it to go about my usual business, IE leaving the TV on. If it's too quiet, he knows his mommy is trying to film him and he stays silent. Maybe that's how it is with the other birds!

Hey guys! I'm a vegan (don't worry, I'm not crazy, haha) so naturally I cook a lot of dishes that go well with rice. I currently buy instant brown rice, but it's expensive and I'd prefer to buy brown rice in bulk when I move to my first apartment next month. My boyfriend actually has a rice cooker he wanted to give me, and I was excited until we looked at the box, it's coated! So anyway, long story short, does anyone know of a good rice cooker that is non coated and bird friendly?

I WISH I had a pool! My backyard is so teeny tiny! I am doing ellpitical training, mixed with EA Sports Active. It really has a good workout! I'll also try and use my campus' gym, where they have exercise bikes. I love exercise bikes.

Well, I'm a vegetarian so I'm thinking of a low carb, high fiber diet where I eat around 1200 calories a day, and exercise 3-5 times a week...which will be hard since I am working two jobs and taking 18 credits this semester! I'd like to be at 130 by August of next year!

From your name, 'CeeCeeNY' I assume you live here in NY? Did you go to a local breeder or a pet shop? If you went to a local breeder it's possible the FL are initials, and if you went to a pet shop it's possible your bird was shipped from Florida.
