  7. If they did not drive you nuts from time to time you would think something is wrong and you would go nuts worrying about them.
  8. I do believe that parrots of any species respect a person with self confidence. You proved yourself, so it was time to make a change.
  9. Amazons are truly amazing creatures Amazons parrots were never my first pick when it came to parrots until Cricket came into my life and I had a chance to see there gentle side. Cricket also loved to be talked to in a soft gentle voice and she would start this beautiful Amazon purr and cooing that could make your heart melt. I miss that so much.

  14. As I sit back and think of Cricket the one of many things I remember the most is how she would respond in a loving way, is when I would talk to her in a very soft voice. It seamed to relax her and she would fall all over her self trying to get as close to me as she could. She had this beautiful Amazon purring and cooing sound that made you understand just how happy she was. I know that if you have a zon that there are things that your zon dose that lets you know when they are happy and content The head tucked down and under my chin was another thing she would do when happy. What are some of the things that you do that makes your Amazon happy and content.
  15. Hi and welcome to the both of you to the grey forum. Tyrion sure is a looker.
  16. Their world, their rules. I thought you knew that by now.
  17. When Corky is out on top of her cage playing, she will stop and say, Corky gotta go pop and fly over to her potty perch and pop.
  18. First I would like to say, welcome home. Miss. Gilbert has taken this travel thing in stride. It seams like when ever you travel the two of you become more bonded when you return home. I know Corky loves to travel, but is always glad to come home. I do believe that traveling with your birds and having then near you as you travel is a bond builder. Corky and Cricket would sing and talk up a storm as we traveled and would make the miles go by so fast as we all enjoyed each others company.
  19. I can deal with the grey out, it`s the mushy stuff on the key board that gets me.
  20. When and if the times comes to take on another amazon the grey forum will be one of the first to know. As far as the Amazon I met last week, he is well on his way to being socialized be for going to a good home. This pet shop is one of the best that I know of. They do not send a parrot home to the first person that comes down the street just because they have a pocket full of money and want a parrot. They take the time to tell you what it`s like to live with a parrot, the good and the bad and they provide a support network and follow up on each one of their birds. I have known them for 30 years and they will make sure that it goes to a great home. If I take in another Amazon it will be an older zon, a unwanted Amazon, One that needs a better quality of life. One that I can show that people are not all bad.
  21. Hi Stan and welcome to you and Congo to the grey forum.
  22. With the loss of Cricket 2014 it turned into an awful year for me that I can`t seam to get over. When ever I try to write about Amazons or Cricket I feel so empty. If friends ask me about Cricket or Amazons my voice cracks when I try to talk. When I`m alone and think of Cricket, tears come to my eyes. I was in a pet store last week, the one we have dealt with for the better part of 30 years and they had a very young Yellow Nape Amazon that was out and on a perch and talking up a storm. It jumped from its perch to my shoulder and we started to play and we were having a good time and the owner ran over and said Ray be careful she is mean and bites. We played for over an hour and she never bit me, She would put her head down for head scratches and would make those beautiful Amazon sounds. As I left the shop I hoped that she would go to a good home and be loved like I loved Cricket.
