Now if we could only convince Bazil that I am treating him nice! hahaha I know him being # 20 had nothing to do with it, but I was reading his hatch certificate and just thought it was a neat factoid ok, well if you don't think he is suffering than I am ok I will continue lining the floor with blankets when he is out... thanks

No Dave, they are all grown in all except for 2 which he just lost due to moulting, I have not clipped him since I brought him home (9/22/2007), he was hatched 6/17/2007 and living in his breeders rabbit cages no perches just bowls of food and water on the floor they climbed everywhere.. ooh and just a little bit of info he was baby number 20 from his parents that year

Rene is moulting at the moment and today out popped a red bum feather I picked it up and noticed 5-6 very prominent stress marks? so my question is this.. How long does it take for these lines to develop, its in the middle of the feather, is this something he could of got from the move? which was about a month or so now or were these from before he came to me? also is it some sort of deficiency? I am trying to snap a picture of it so everyone can see but my camera is awful, and isn't showing the lines in the feather I know I have been asking a lot of questions lately, and I apologize but Rene just fascinates me..

Bazil my 3 year old evil quaker lol can't fly, he never seems to get lift and only glides down the floor, I bought bazil when he was just weaned from a breeder at a flea market (ugh I KNOW) on impulse, and not knowing anything about quakers. So I went home jumped on line and did as much reading about him and his species as possible (to know then what I know now! ha ha) and thats when I noticed he had already been clipped :mad: upon closer inspection it was a butcher job I think they just went at him with scissors and didn't pay attention to what they were doing. So I cleaned up their hack job and made his wings as even on both sides and proper as I could.. but my poor little buddy never got the chance to learn.. is there anyway to help him? I know its been a loooonnnnggg time but whenever he flies he lands hard and pants for a long time, even just on a short trip from the cage top to the floor, (he flaps his wings so fast and hard).

Thanks guys, I have always been the type of person to take constructive criticism, and apply it, not get insulted or let my ego freak out LoL. I can understand Lambert58's point, maybe EVERY Bite doesn't deserve posting about,and that is not what I thought I was doing. we all are owed by birds and KNOW what they are going to do, they are animals, and anyone deciding to be adopted by a parrot must be delusional to even think they won't get corrected by their Birdie.. James holds no bad feelings to Rene, even though Rene is still holding a grudge hahaha.. but this is the life that WE Chose bites or no bites....

the only reason this is posted is because I JUST re homed Rene, and went from evil bird to lovey bird all in the matter of 24 hours, just a few days ago... and I think a bird swooping in and lunging for someones face is something to post over, I wanted to know if it had something to with me or how hormonal he has been lately, I am not new to birds either, just new to Grey's.

Just so you know I cross posted this on Parrot 911, and a few other parrot rescue's in Massachusetts also the mspca..

Just thought I would give a quick update, Rene and James still aren't on speaking terms... Rene completely ignores James and gives him a total birdy snub! When James walks into the room Rene goes to the opposite side as far away from him, when James talks to him Rene grumbles then turns and puts his back to him! sooo its a work in progress lol

OH! I am so glad to know that Rene isn't the only grey to think that a small piece of toast is going to kill him!!! If you figure out a way to get Paco to eat it let me know!!

I thought for sure Rene would bark like a dog, but all he says is "woof woof" just like we would! its cute!

Rene came from a house FULL of dogs, so he has learned whenever my house erupts in barks (I have 3), that someone is here, so he looks out the window and starts yelling COME IIIIINNNNN!!!! lol I don't think the barking scares him I think it excites him!

Well I am glad that Joey will never again have to worry about if he will be hungry or thirsty, and that he can turn around and become, a warm and loving bird, his interaction with both of you is testament to that! Joey knows he is safe now...and most off all very loved and WANTED.

I was actually surprised, James didn't make a sound, I didn't even know it happened until I saw the blood on his face.. James was just standing there. James just keeps telling everyone Rene hates him.. and I say No he doesn't just give him more time, so now I will be watching them when Rene is out, which lately has been all day because he is so friendly to me, so do you think that maybe Rene being a little hormonal as of late has something to do with it? I only ask because James was headed in my direction? all I said to Rene was that hurting James wasn't very nice, and please dont do it again, Rene took a look at James and waddled over to him and stood on his leg and just looked at him..

He is very handsome!! I love your sticky notes all over the door good job to keep him safe! Rene's favorite food used to be warmed mashed banana!

Jayd Spock and Maggie I promise to take some more Im even trying for video but Rene turns into my own parrot statue when that little red light is blinking
