    Odd behavior??

Socializing and bonding are two different things, a Grey can socialize with many people, example, vet's neighbor's groomer, friends etc, this is good and strengthens bonding.Cage cleaners are ok, same as sitters, they don't even act the same around the parrots as a Parront does.... Jay

  9. Sayings: Better safe then sorry, If not sure? don't use it, Err on the safe side!!!!! Teflon Kills, Carpet fresh Kills, Pesticides, perfume/aftershave, bleach odor, Cleaning solutions fumes, And the Yard go's on Forever... If a person wants a air purifier, or to cook with telfon, fine, don't have parrots, they die hard......Jayd:( Note: Hold a Macaw against your chest while he looks at you as he dies, while 3 other parrots are already dead, and you helpless because someone was more concerned with Teflon....Carbon removes odor and large particles.....

  15. The hissing is a shhhhhhhhh sound as a true snake would make, they also make the same sound if they hear a steam kettle. Greys and Amazons have a large number of wild sound in their memory's. Your post was excellent and correct and informative, I just feel this is a "play sound"...Thanks Jayd
  16. Don't do that, we always want your advice, I hope you never get bit that way....We always learn from you..Remember: You can have 10 greys [any parrot] same age in the same room, they'll all be somewhat different...Thank you my friend Jayd
  17. HaHaHa lol BS, [No ofences] The sides of the Mandibles are used for cutting, a parrot turns their head side ways and scrapes what ever with the side of their beaks and can take a layer of skin off. They can also pinpoint with their upper beak while dragging their lower beak and gouge a closed fist, besides cracking a knuckle.... Luv ya all....Jayd
  18. Growl and hissing are 2 different sounds, this is normal, most of the time it's just play. Being that Parrots evolved from Dinosaurs, head movements ans strange movements are not unusual, ever seen a Hawk-head parrot? I can't remember which Dino they look like, a lot of Dino's striked in a distinct head movement...I believe Grey's ancestors were "Raptor's.... Thanks Jayd
  19. Hi all, wrapping in a towel or using gloves is very bad for a parrot, toweling if done is the safes and proper way to do it.[we've posted just recently on this subject, please reread] Wingy has a good suggestion...What you need to do is sit back as Ialways say, Pome wasn't belt in a day, don't rush anything, relax....Jayd
  20. Hi, as Judy said yes, what you should do is wash the eggs in vinegar, then after you boil and separate the egg, bake the shell at 350 degrees for 10 min's to be sure they safe....Thanks....Jayd
  21. Welcome to the Grey world, over the next 5 years your to experience many new sounds and changes from your baby...Thanks Jayd
  22. This is normal, it's when they growl their giving a warning...Wait till they fly and mak a sould like a attacking Pterodactyl, ask Dan lol
  23. Not really, a bite or two won't hurt, there full of [one or more] Sugar, salt, iron and flour which is a filler.. Thanks Jayd
