  1. Hi, perch her on your finger and roll your hand like ZulusMom said, then roll your hand slowly at first. With her finger perched face her away from you with her back facing your chest, move you hand towards you [tail feathers down] and press her back against you chest. Next step , if she's hanging upside down lower her to your couch or bed etc...It takes time...Thanks Jayd
  2. I'm sure some of you remember a friend of mine who lost her "True Companion" due to a hard floor under her cage, and then there's the "Split Breasts". Our home is carpeted, with small drop cloths where necessary..Yes, you can survive with carpet.......
  3. Each Grey handles each situation differently. No one can predict how someone else s Grey will respond, all the can do is tell of how something similar played out with them. JeffNOK made some Greyt points..Beprepared, we wish for the best... Side note: Some say, Greys are "Telepathic" [?]
  4. ;)Please post things you find.. Is it "Higgens World Cuisine"... Very good product...Read whats in it, you can make it yourself. Our fids love "Mundo Brazil"... Thanks Jayd
  5. No Dan, there's nothing wrong with yours or Dave's or anyone post's. There always Greyt....Jayd
  6. Dave, Dan and to everyone. My post has turned into something other then it was meant to be. Of coarse your all right, but my heart and love I was trying to convey in my post still stands. Sorry it was misunderstood. Luv you all....Jayd
  7. Sorry if I didn't explain myself better. Yes a Grey has a extremely long memory but they also at times have a short attention span when it suits them. I didn't state that any one was abusive in this instance. The rest that I stated is a proven fact and I stand by it. Plates etc can be picked up as soon as play time is over, as they can when intentional tossing is done..So, holding back on food/toys isn't necessary and if done to often can cause problems. One syndrome common to Greys is "Lack of Food" that is why we practice "Abundant Feeding". Not being bit has nothing to do with how we've done on caring for our fids, some Greys bite others don't, it's as simply as that, but we can teach a biter to stop biting.[sometimes] Everything else you say, confirms what I said. and yes you've done more than "okay". And the responses to this thread have been Greyt. Sometimes we need to re-read a post or ask a follow up question before we reply to make sure we understand what the poster exactly meant. Were here to learn and share what we've learned, not to stand alone.... Thank You Jayd
  8. In some area's some people consider this abusive. When a parrot tosses, or bites they wait but a few moments for a response, most everyone responds at once, don't respond because by the time you do, a parrot no longer cares, they've already moved onto something more important to them. So, if you hold back food or toy's etc for more then a couple of minutes, they don't understand what they did wrong, this effects trust and many other issues.[abuse] Our Greys are not children or dogs etc, but a unique being like no other....Jay
  9. Teflon fumes can kill your bird anywhere in your home. They can kill a Macaw in under 20 minutes, smaller birds a lot quicker. This is a fact, not an opinion. It is not safe to use Teflon in any environment that contains birds. Alternatives: Stainless, cast iron, glass, corning-ware, and a new product called Green-ware but I don't have the address for that product yet. Thanks, Jay p.s. Hairdryers, electric toaster ovens, toasters, space heaters also contain Teflon. There are a lot of good threads about alternative products that members use. Just do a search. Self-cleaning ovens are extremely deadly.
