  1. A baby usually drops around 10% of their body weight when they start to fly, they're more interested in flying then eating... You can add a 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter, Skippy's Natural or Laura Scudder to the formula, mix it in good, they love it. You can get "Zupreem Embrace plus, or Exact Macaw formula", which is higher in fat and protein which our Grey's need! This is the only formula I use. Peanut butter works great, plus they like it, Spock's still on it!!!! Jayd Any photos?
  2. We all hope everything is okay! Haven't heard from you!!!!! Jayd

    Need help

Thank you for you reply, your baby is weak in his wing and shoulder muscles, his cardiovascular also needs. a work out badly. Now, we can't work on getting him in shape till trust is threre, so don't worry about flying now. What is your relationship with Koko like? will he finger perch? stick perch? take food from your hands?, can you pet him? where?. Ok 1st, sit by his cage, door open, and read a picture book to him, showing him the pictures and giving him a treat every now and again, don't set a routine up, do it as often as you can each day. This is just a start! What is the most favorite things he likes to hear you say, like his name, I love you, kiss etc? Jayd

    Need help

If I may, I have a question? Does he flap his wings? fully extended? How often and how much? I have 2 older birds 9 and 18 years old who never learned to fly, the 18 yr old never will. Any attempt to let him out of his cage, please thickly pad where he might fall. I doubt he has much strength in his wing muscles, and his heart can be in poor condition. Thanks Jayd:o
  14. My two cent's, From experience, Get a Orange wing or Yellow nape Amazon weaned baby, let your Grey be flock leader. [see my avatar] Their low maintenance, and wonderful birds. Check out the "Amazon" room here on the forum!!!!Jayd Note: I said "from experience" but that don't mean you'll have the same luck that I have.......

  20. Know one has said your a bad caregiver. And yes, if your baby is falling that much, you should have a harness on her when out of the cage, for her protection! A common injury to a slight fall is to the brain, it only takes a couple of inches to happen. I suggest some reading, so you can learn learn a little more about these Greys, so you can become a Grey't bird keeper. Sometimes we have to obey our own advice! Jayd
  21. Ask Janet, [Luvsparrot] She has one, and a Grey!!!!! Jayd
  22. From your own quote Yes Abby is trying to " GET AWAY", not get to!!! Sugar comes also in one pound bags!! so Jilly isn't wrong! The average weight of a adult CAG is one pound! So wrong on 3 counts, and the last quote" There is a thread on this in the forum! Last year a friends 25 yr old Too, sliped, broke her leg, had surgery, spent night in vet hospital, DIED before morning!!!! These Grey's are different than any other parrot! Also, in case you need to go to a vet! you weigh them in "Grams" not pounds....And to your last statement: BEEN there!!!!!!!!!! After all this, the people of this Forum, Jilly, myself, and all the rest! we'll still be there to offer help, no mater what you say to us. Jayd NOTE: If your baby's a CAG, HE ONLY WEIGHTS BUY YOUR SCALE AROUND 275 GRAMS AND SHOULD WEIGH AROUND 380 +... iF HE'S A tag, his weight is ok......
  23. I love them, what a grey't baby you have!!! Jayd, Maggie, and Spock and the flock
