  1. In this photo of Spock nails and feet, the ones against the white T-shirt are transparent, the ones on Maggie's arm are black. Normally there all black. You can see through the nails! markings in the T-shirt etc!!! I would guess that the nails are somewhat transparent, and the flash, lights through them. Interesting?

    Baby's ok!

Laker4life has been in contact with me twice. His baby is 7 weeks old and doing ok! He's moving it to a cage, and it nibbles on pears and apples. He's put seed and pellets and other assorted foods in it's new cage. This is all the info I have, if he contacts me again, I'll post!

  11. Administrators, Talon, Moderators and all Members... I'd like to make a request that Moderator Judygram be made Official or Honorary Ambassador of the Grey Forums. Maybe Ambassador could be added to her Avatar moderator, or she could change her user name to "Ambassador Judygram. My reasons for this request is she is number one in Welcoming new member's, number of post, and her interests are always about the well being of the Forums and it's member's. This lady always has something nice to say. I'm sure many members will agree with me. All she would have to do as ambassador is to continue to do as she's doing. Please let those in charge know how you feel. Sincerely Jayd and Maggie P.S. I've been calling her Ambassador for a while...
  12. :cool:Back around 1988, one of our many birds was a female Quaker. After Jay's father passed away, we invited Jay's Mom (who I called Mom) to live with us. She didn't see her best to the left of each eye so in the afternoons, she would sit on her bed (she had a large patio window) and read or do crossword puzzles. Wacky Quaker was a quiet bird and our boys (then 10 and 12 years old) would sneak in the bedroom with Wacky Quaker and quietly set her on the end of Mom's bed. As soon as she saw Mom, she'd take off running, mouth open, silent, head down right for Mom's bum...scaring the .....out of Mom. Then she would start squawking...Mom would yell at the boys who were in the hall rolling on the floor laughing..."Jayson, GET THIS WACKY BIRD OUT OF HERE!" Wacky's cage was at the entrance to the hall and again, she was allowed to be free like all our birds and whenever Mom went down the hallway, Wacky would lean over as far as she could to bite Mom's bum...she never did this to anyone else...just her. ;)Another one of our birds at the time was a rare Grey-Cheeked Parakeet (you don't see many of them anymore in captivity because they don't breed well in captivity..[Not green cheek conure!] a lot of them were imported legally and illegally in the late '70's and '80's) These birds are born tame and extremely social and we had one named Jose'. Our oldest son had a cockatiel (his personal bird named P.B.) Our boys always loved to play with Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys. These three birds also loved Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys and it was very common for them to sneak into the boy's room and run around the house with these toys in their beaks...you never knew where they would turn up. Mom would be trying to vacuum and Wacky would run at her, wings wide open, Tinker Toy in her mouth like a spear and try to attack poor Mom and the vacuum cleaner.... Mom would yell and Jose would scream "Play Dead" and fall off his perch, hanging off his perch, playing dead.... Maggie:p (We have stories and we still miss everyone of our birds that are no longer with us...I'm sure that Wacky is trying to bite Mom's bum wherever they might be...) Spock's Back!

Thanks all. Spock has been seeing a vet almost every two weeks since Dec 09, he has 5 vets now.LoL Were guaranteed a visit on Thur's after 4pm! These vets receive have received not only our fid's, but our rescue's and re-home's. Spock's cut down on some of his food intake. I think Dan might be right on Spock's back muscles, they seem to be well developed, I living room/kitchen flight is around 50=60', he'll do this in set's of 2 or 3, 10 or more times a day, 5-6 full house length flights of 50' 3-5 times.[that,s 100' per flight! with out tail feathers!] When I say "Spock's cut down on his eating", his normal daily food consumption is: Breakfast= 2 tbs of smash, 1/3 tsp peanut butter + supplement, 1 to 2 tsp brn rice, lentils/split peas 1 tsp, will snack on a tsp of seed. mid-morning snack, he'll snack on left over breakfast, 10+ cheerio's soaked in 2 table spoons rice milk, Lunch: 1/4 tuna sandwich on whole grain bread, plate of veggies, and a few seeds, Dinner: Smash, pasta with tomato sauce, beans, sometimes cooked veggies. Bed time snack: bite of fruit, a couple bites of fresh sweet potato's. Because of his Hypoglycemia, he eats carbs and burn carbs, in a viscous cycle. Once we can determine his diet balance, we hope his metabolism will slow down, so he won't wear out his body. Spock is a large boned Grey, he should weigh around 520 +grams, he's skinny. Hope this will change. If I missed anything, just ask! Jayd
