1.Carpet with no bird debris on 2. Walls with no red bits on 3. Dado rails with no peck marks :blink: 4. A living and dining area with no poop spots I missed when cleaning up. 5. Cardigans with no buttons missing or half bitten buttons. 6. Jackets with zips that worked because there were no missing links. 7. no red marks on my shoulders where Beau had been "eating" my jacket and gone too deep :ohmy: :sick: 8. No extra washing consisting of pooped-on clothes. ;-) 9. Windows open on summer evenings 10. Supermarket trips without looking at expensive imported fruit to see if any of it was affordable "on special offer"... ...no Beau to love and care for in my life :-( ;-)

Thanks for the update on Harley Pat, good news that he has no problems other than being underweight. I'm sure he will be just fine now he is in your care.

Good post Jill, I'm glad you brought up this subject because it needs discussing. Yes there are problems in the NHS but it is better we have it than not. For instance, at the scene of an accident there is no hesitation or delay in the treatment of casualties for fear they "look poor" and therefore have little or no insurance. There was a theory doing the rounds at the time of Princess Diana's death that she was not immediately recognised by those first on the scene and that time was wasted in her receipt of treatment due to those on the scene looking for insurance documents. How true this was no one knows but anyhow it probably happens. Our NHS used to be the envy of the world but it isn't what it was due to many factors ie. modern expensive drugs and treatment and weekends being almost entirely dedicated to treating drunks and drug addicts brought into hospitals but IMO one of the main problems facing the NHS is our county's soft policy of allowing people who have never paid a penny in tax to receive treatment unconditionally, many who only come into the country to receive free treatment leaving immediately after. Oh lord I could go on forever but I'll spare you all that. What I will say though is finding the perfect health system is probably near impossible. :-)

babygirl, you are so right. Parrots do grow up to be less cuddly and owners need to be ready for this and love the bird unconditionally but as mothers aren't we like this with our kids? Grown-up kids often do things that hurt us but we love them still, it's part of being a mum.

GorgASS, I have seen a similar programme to this. Birds are far more clever than people give them credit for.

I'm not offended, I just know I will get upset if I read it, don't delete on my account, I'm just soft lol! I guess at the very least the guys on here will read it. It is good that you took the time to point it out because obviously this stuff goes on. Some people are just sick, sick, sick and others are motivated by money and greed. People on this site are the opposite and love parrots as much as/more than humans.

Pat, you owe it to these other little guys to report it, I'm sure you already know it in your heart. As for Harley, I think he will be ok now, if he is able to gobble-up his food as you describe then he will be able to satisfy his hunger on his own, just ensure the food you are giving him is good quality food (which I'm sure it is anyway) and of a wide variety and yes I think suppliments would be a good idea until he builds his strength up. God bless this little guy, he is adorable and he obviously sees you as his saviour - which you are Pat. Karma to you.

Pat, the way I see it; a, the guy is still very much in love with you or b, the guy has a guilt complex that has been eating away at him for some time and this is his was of easing his concience. Keep the ring, enjoy wearing it or if you can't wear it because of the connection with your ex, keep it safe and when you are ready, sell it and use the proceeds for a cause you see it fit for.

There is an soon-to-open site dedicated to lost birds in the UK which I have registered with. Basically it is to get as many people as possible covering every corner of the UK to register and keep a look-out for lost birds so that eventually there will be no area uncovered and that anyone losing a much-loved pet will rest assured what someone is looking out for their lost fid.
