  2. Who needs air con or a fan when you have wings flapping around you constantly.
  3. {Feel-good-0002006E} As if Dan, as if... Caroline I think Dan is onto us women and :evil: ways...
  4. {Feel-good-0002006E} Whay is it with greys and zips lol?!
  5. "He is a very good "Tailor". What I mean by this, is if your into the Grunge fashion, he can perforate and fray your shirts and pants turning them into "One of a kind", "Designer" clothing. I am taking bids for these fashionable clothes now." That's classic Dan {Feel-good-0002006E}
  6. Thanks for the link Caroline. I pay about £16 per month.
  7. Beau is a parrot of many talons - sorry talents he is a great manicurist and enjoys "tidying up" my nail cuticles and he likes to "trim" hubby's stubble he is also a good furniture upholsterer, he adds a nice holey pattern in the arms of the setee & armchair. He is quite modern in his design techniques though and it's not always to my taste :angry:
  8. Your grey might even feast on them if they got close enough :laugh:
  9. Mine is insure too, with Exotics Direct. I hope I never have to use it but I probably will at some stage. I've never heard of Golden Valley, are they good Caz?
  10. Sorry Jill, that wasn't meant to be a swipe at you. The weather here since we moved back has been totally pants. I'm beginning to think you have better weather the further inland you are. This is the third wet/pants summer out of three since being back here. :-(

    It's a scam - delete it!
  12. Dave, I thought the same as you but didn't like to say. There's something not quite right about the story.
  13. Awww Pat - I wish but my house isn't big enough. I'm looking for a Hahns Macaw - the smallest of the Macaws, more my size but if I had a large house I would. How anyone could be cruel to or neglect these beautiful birds is beyond me. If you can't afford to feed it properly then offer it to someone who can! :evil:
  14. Thanks for the feedback, this particular site (the link I've given you) have the palm nuts too but as Sheila said the shipping could be more. This time I bought a 1kg pack as it's a much cheaper way of buying and I have recently increased Beau's intake of them - I may increase further when I get this new order as he adores them and they are good for him. Jen, you put them in the freezer and take them out about an hour before giving them, they defrost quickly and freeze well because of the high oil content - this is recommended by the site. I apprecate the comments regarding the lighting, this site offers other items giving UV light as well as the item I bought. Comments from customers is encouraged - not only good feedback and previous buyers seem to think the lighting has a good effect on their birds mood and general health during the winter (Scotland is particularly dreary here in the winter ;-) fortunately I'm in the extreme south and it is a little better) anyway what I've bought is the most suitable for Beau and me as strip lighting is not suitable for the area Beau is in. The item I bought fixes to the cage, the wire is kept away from inquisitive beaks by another device that comes with it. You can also buy a UV light bulb which fixes into a normal light fitting but my lighting consists of a 5 small bulb fitting and the lamp I have is an uplighter and only the ceiling would benefit from this As I see it, even if it doesn't give as much "sun" as the real thing it's better than none at all. Oh I wish I lived somewhere where the sun is a feature all year round. Oh dear, I have gone on a bit - sorry.
  15. Oooh, I like the dark green one with the red splashes on the face. Sweet birds.
  16. I think in time you will realise you made the right choice by deciding not to clip. The problems you are experiencing now are only due to her being clipped as a baby anyway because my grey flew near perfect from when I first got him at 12-14 weeks old. It seems to me that clipping birds from babies is storing up trouble for the future and to carry on clipping a bird is just taking the easy option. Patience and perseverence in the order of the day here.
  17. I bet he is Pat, they are gentle giants, Beau also loves having his beak rubbed so I can imagine macaws are the same. The beaks of these big birds just look scary by their size alone. Take a look at these beautiful babies: http://www.parrot-link.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26262
  18. Hi there peyperj, That sounds like a very good and varied diet you are giving your grey. What I tend to do if Beau's poos are a little too watery, is ease off the fruit & veg a little the next day and offer the egg, this should help. I give Beau approx. half a dish of fruit or veg daily, if he particularly likes what I give him it is usually gone by lunch time but I don't offer more until the next morning as he has his pellets and mixed parrot food if he is hungry. If you offer both pellets and fruit at the same time this might also help as he would probably eat them both taking in a little less fruit. Have you tried palm nuts? Beau loves these and grey's eat them in the wild as they are readily available. I give these about 3 times a week, one lagge one or two small. If you offer a varied diet, go easy on the vits.
  19. I've been a little concerned over the lack of sun we have had in the UK this summer, sometimes we have had a sunny day and I've been here alone and therefore unable to lift Beau's cage outside for him to enjoy the sun. With the autumn and winter seasons fast aproaching I've decided that to maintain his health he will need some sort of UV lamp or lighting of some sort to take us into next summer. This is what I've just purchased: http://www.24parrot.com/product.asp?pf_id=8294 I would appreciate any feedback from other members as to if this particular item is a good buy - I got 10% off for buying now. Will this benefit Beau and how often should it be switched on? Anything else I should know about this item? Now I only have to explain to my husband why the bank has been emptied to the tune of £78 - I bought palm nuts too. :ohmy:

  21. Glad to hear you had a nice break Bernie, hope the weather was ok for you. I think I'll keep my distance from Judy until she calm down... :laugh:
  22. I can relate to that - lacerations on hands, empty wallet :laugh:
