"# 1. A hand held hoover is a necessity!" OMG how true is this, we didn't have a need for one of these until shortly after the arrival of Beau, in fact we only needed to use the main one occasionally. My, how times change. 4. A grey can poop it's own weight in an hour

You know I read that poem thinking it was written for a lost child/spouse/parent, it is so touching it would be suitable for a lost person as well as a beloved pet. Thanks for sharing this Dave, a beautiful poem.

I can't believe that pub landlord, keeping your Max whilst knowing all the time he was yours - unbelievable! All the while you and Max were grieving for each other. I'd tell all my friends and relatives never to go in that pub EVER again and pray for him to go bankrupt. What a discusting individual.

Oh dear that is very sad news after we all had high hopes for a recovery. I'm so sorry for your loss which we all share with you of course. Sending you hugs.

Ok, as I love reading about others' fids on here, I'd like to open this thread for you to all post 10 interesting facts about your grey or other parroty type ;-) on here. Don't worry if you can't think of 10, 5 or more will do. I'll start this off with 5 facts about Beau and 5 about Argyle. Beau, 1.Hates being sprayed 2. Has started to "dance" by bobbing his head up & down 3. Says "hello" "lovely boy" and "kiss, kiss" amongst other things I can't make out as yet. 4. Adores hubby. 5. Adores palm nuts. Argyle 1. Loves being sprayed until he looks like a drowned rat - even opening his wings for you  2. Hates hands but has stopped attacking the ones bringing food 3. Sits on his cage door but doesn't like leaving the safety of his own cage. 4. says "pretty boy" "hello" and other stuff I can't make out. 5. Sleeps with his head inside his bell, even when day-sleeping.

Thank you to everyone for your replies especially you Pat as I know you are an experienced macaw owner and will have come across this type of behaviour with your rescued birds. I will be following the advice given. B)

My heart goes out to you Pat. I hope you find your beloved Destiny, one way or the other but know this, your dog had no future when you found him, you gave him love, care and a good home - not to mention 15 years he wouldn't have had without you. I'm sure he knew he was loved and loved you back, so much so that he probably knew it was his time and spared you the distress by going off in that way. Hugs winging their way to you from this little corner of the UK

What wonderful news, you must be delighted Macey is on the mend. It'll be interesting to see the cause of her sickness. Happy ending

I know it's still early days with Argyle and we've had him less than two weeks, however he does seem a little wild to me. He is a great talker and I'm sure he was well looked-after by his previous owners but he doesn't like to be approached with my hand/s. Even if I'm offering food he will lunge at me. He won't bite if he flies onto me it just seems to be the hands he doesn't like. Another problem is he rarely comes out of his cage and if he does it's usually only to go on top of Beau's which is not recommended with Beau inside! I'd appreciate any feedback from members with previously-owned birds. Does anyone have any ideas on how to overcome these problems? The one time I did get my hands near Argyle he seemed to really enjoy his head being scratched but he hasn't allowed me near him since.

I love your pics of Harvey Jill, he is very photogenic.

Aren't they just? Beau is so gentle, he rarely bites in an agressive way, what I mean by that is, take for example I want to get him into his cage and he doesn't want to go in he will step down or turn away, now if I persist he will "bite" in a way to let me know I am pushing my luck but not enough to seriously hurt - just so I know he doesn't wanna play my game. I know there are a few members on here that say their parrots have never bitten them and that is just great and shows what wonderful relationships we can forge with our fids. Aren't we the lucky ones? Although it is obvious Beau loves Steve the most, by no means would I say he is a one person bird. He is still cuddly and luvin' toward me too, I just know my place when Steve walks into the room  but that's ok, I can deal with that, what I couldn't deal with would be to be totally rejected by him. I had one person say to me last week (on finding out I had a parrot) "I don't like birds" whist faking a shudder. I felt sorry for her, she will never know what great relationships you can have with parrots, their intelligence, the way they copy members of the household and understand what some of those words mean. Beau knows exactly what "want your head doing?" means and immediately bows his head in preperation for a scratch, he is amazing. Sorry for going on a bit, just thought I'd share my thoughts with you guys because I know you understand how it is. I may now have Argyle but Beau will always be special as he was my first parrot and he knows he is number 1 - not sure Argyle agrees with this though

Have you tried contacting the breeder? Maybe he is knowledgeable. -
