  1. Very good Jill, you are on the ball today. Alas I don't deserve the karma but thanks anyway lol.
  2. Sounds lovely Janet, lucky you. I'm planning a chilled weekend. My son doesn't have a football match this morning so I had a lie-in and now I'm on my laptop in my pyjamas lol. Need to get into town later for an hour or two and the shed needs clearing out lol but tomorrow is hubby's birthday so we are going out to lunch and watching our football team which is being shown on screen in the pub. I know, I lead such an exciting life don't I? Lol
  3. What a gorgeous guy and so funny. Lovely home too. Thanks for sharing.
  4. How scary!! Poor Nikki and poor you. Don't beat yourself up about it though, I'm sure we all have potential accidents waiting to happen in our fid's cages. We can only be vigillant and thanks to people like you, learn from others' mistakes. Please keep us informed of her progress, sounds like she had a very lucky escape bless her.
  5. I think that's about right, every 10-20 minutes. I think you should be taking more notice of the consistancy rather than the frequency - unless it's very infrequent in which case Coral might be dehydrated.
  6. What beautiful pictures and what a lovely place! Koko is one handsome fella and seems to be enjoying his adventure. Karma to you for sharing.
  7. :woohoo: Oh Pat that is wonderful news, I'm so happy for Tyco and for you too. They get so proud of themselves don't they? BTW, your poor ceiling lol
  8. This is commonplace. They seem to become more fearful of strange things as they get older. Is the toy big? This can be a factor too but you are doing the right thing by placing the toy near the cage for her to get used to it before putting it into her cage, which after all is her territory.
  9. I would say she is definately talking but has yet to perfect her words well enough for you to make them out. :woohoo:
  10. Someone needs to tell Argyle that he is the smaller of my two fids, he is half the size of Beau but really pushes his luck with him. If allowed he will take it upon himself to sit on top of Beau's cage inviting him to nip at his feet or sit as close to Beau's cage as he can get trying to out-stare him. Beau just sits there as if to say "yeah whatever" LOL. Argyle shows absolutely no fear whatsoever, he is a big bird in a small body!
  11. Oh no! I have read posts like this one so many times, this is so sad. Keep doing what you are doing and pray as I am praying for Rishi. As Judy says an avian vet would give him the best chance but any vet is better than none.
  12. Hi Silvergrey and welcome back to the forum. Sounds like you have "been through the mill" so to speak but it's great to know you are better now. They do say that animals are good for the owner's health so maybe you have done the right thing in taking a lovely grey into your life. If nothing else he will take your mind off your problems and I'm sure you are in for a lot of fun with him. Thank you for posting this lovely picture of Muru. Do you know the meaning of his name? Sending best wishes from the UK
  13. Hi Charlotte, it sounds to me like you are giving your grey plenty of attention and if she has had a clean bill of health from the vet I don't really see what else you can do. My grey also is a constant beak-rubber but so far I've not seen what you describe on him. Why not post a picture to give us some idea of what it looks like? There will probably be more knowledgeable members who will post replies to your problem and a picture will help them with that. Try not to worry too much.
  14. Blimey, Misty is one demanding parrot! It's quite clear that he is the flock leader and all round boss in your household!
  15. Oh Happy Anniversary Janet. You are a valuable member on here, it seems like you are part of the furniture as you were here when If first joined. Look for ward to another year of your posts :woohoo:
  16. That is wonderful news Tom. They say many things that it's near impossible to determine - especially previously owned birds.
  17. It'd be interesting to hear where everyone's parrot sleeps. It is really strange but I have never seen Beau sleeping as he is covered and once I've gone to bed I don't like to come back downstairs incase I disturb him but I have noticed that in the last few weeks he has changed from going to the bottom grate as soon as he is covered and peeking out to staying higher in the cage unseen. It seems strange to me (as we have had since April and from a baby) that he has suddenly changed now. Argyle sleeps high in his cage with his head inside his bell - yes really! Well I guess it's dark and blocks everything else out.
  18. I keep the grate in, it seperates parrot from poop ;-) besides Beau would shred all the paper in 5 minutes flat! I clean the tray and change the papers every day, whilst doing this I also clean the poop from the grate but when it looks too dirty I take the grate out and wash it properly. Argyle (being a smaller bird) only needs cleaning out every other day and his cage didn't come with a grate, I find he doesn't go to the bottom of his cage - even if he drops goodies!
  19. Jill, Beau will preen for 20 mins regularly and he isn't moulting so I'd say STOP WORRYING about Harvey, he is displaying normal parroty behaviour LOL - oops sorry I laughed.
  20. Poor Jill, I think we're all slightly paranoid when it comes to our fids. You are no different so don't beat yourself up about it. Take a deep breath and chill Jill ;-) BTW, great news from your doc Jude!
  21. I have two flighted birds, not sure what sex either of them are, probably both male. Beau was 7 months old when we got Argyle (who isn't a grey) but they are let out seperately as Beau was showing signs of being jealous. They are great company for each other and Beau doesn't seem so bored when I come home from being out and I feel less guilty about going out these days. Argyle being a smaller bird eats a lot less than Beau and it isn't double the work either. How old is Toby? My guess is, if you are thinking about it you will eventually do it as that's how I started out - thinking about it.
  22. LOL! Aint that just the way it is? {Feel-good-0002006E}
