Here is a quick funny story try to make it short. We were trying to get my amazon recorded he was singing some silly song I LIKE TO EAT, EAT APPLES AND BANN..... When i would touch the door to go into the bird room the amazon would be singing this but i wanted to see his face, so the kids set up the camera and we hid it so he could not see he was being recorded. So my son is sitting on the computer downloading this and going threw it all since there were quiet times and not always singing trying to get to the singing part. The kid yells out at me like the world is about to come to an end. I go running thinking what now? Guess what not only was amazon singing the entire song but so was my african grey. And singing it even better. We felt so bad paying all this attention to the one and the other one we never knew could do the same. Okay thats it i thought it was cute enough to share smile

I have bought used cages many a times, absolutely would i buy a used cage. A good clean like what was said before and then let it air out in the hot sun for a few days. The perches if wood i would usually throw out. Since you can go to homedepot and buy all kinds of dowel rods different sizes and just replace them.

You are so right on the feet. One of my birds started to get like a blister on the bottom of the foot and my avian vet told me how important it is to also add different size perches and platforms. He even suggested a regular 2 x 4 just so that there feet are not always wrapped around a round perch.

Its acrylic or hard plastic. Not a problem. It is used for either bathroom or kitchen soap or shampoo or something related that. I removed the suction cups and drilled a hole in the middle so i can bolt in on.

Made this in no time over the weekend. You can hide treats or wrap food in little piece of paper and watch as they discover there food or treats. i also place small foot toys in it. I attached it to the pink and black boing and they love it took to it right away

Thanks so much for explaining this, dont have a problem with smoke but being recently diagnosed with RA and i never even thought of some of this since we do use rub on our hands and fingers to ease the pain. So this was really good information.

I really do believe you have to get the avian light for your birds. The others could be cheaper but just not sure how safe that would be. And i would definitely say no to the flood light for reptiles. I have spent soo much time and energy on the light bulbs that all i can say is save yourself a lot of trouble and just purchase the avian light. Not many pet stores carry them so you would have to get them online like at drfostersandsmith or if anyone recommends another outlet. I also think vitamin c is not what light provides but believe it to vitamin e.

My birds will do the same thing it is just like with people i would say you are not always in the mood for company and maybe this is the time of day that he just wants to be left alone. As mentioned before i would leave the door open when he is ready to come out and wants to be with you he will come out. That has been my experience with birds, hope it helps
