Wow that is a nice cage. Looks expensive.

I have no experience with female birds. Even when i had 28 pet birds i only had 2 girls in the flock. So this new adopted grey is 19 years old and have started laying eggs since last week. I was told to leave the eggs so she does not continue to lay more. As of today she has laid number 4. I have no idea what to do. Anyone have some helpful advise please. I had her on the play stand and came back and she was no where to be found/ Found her underneath her cage and that is when she laid number 4. My poor baby looks such a mess.

Then she goes and starts laying eggs. Oh my goodness never had a female bird before. I was told to leave them so she will not keep laying more eggs. Well she has now laid a total of 3 eggs.

I am so happy with these new cages. This poor bird was in the smallest of cages. Now she has a nice clean fresh cage. With lots of toys and a play area above. By the way she is 32 years old.

Poor baby i could not stand the cage she came in. The lady told me she has to stay in the same cage since she has been in it for 19 years. Well there was no problem moving her into her new home. She loves it and now she can also play on the play area above. I will be adding more toys and things for her today later

Poor old girl has such terrible feet. Think from years of bad diet and not suitable perches. Here she is on her new flat perch and i cannot seem to get her off it. She crawls when i try to get her out now.

Oh my goodness really Grumpy??? What a great idea. She has lots of toys and a huge cage but I am sure there is something going on with loosing your human after that many years. I am no expert. I am going to get the teaser toy since we have a Devonshire Rex with more toys than she can handle and see if this helps. I tried to get a better picture of her messy feathers.

As some of you may know i recently adopted a 19 year old CAG. She is not necessary plucking well i am not sure how to describe it. She has a lot of fuzz but not really feathers. I have been soaking her a few times a week and wanted to know what others are doing to get there birds not to destroy there feathers. She was also on a terrible diet which is now in the process of being changed. Any other advise would be great. Her personality and really come alive. Her history was a one person bird and her mommy of 18 years had passed away. She was kinda sad when she arrived here but now that bird has turned around and is so very happy. It sure is rewarding when you realize you have made a difference in such a small little life.

Stinky bird is doing much better thank you all. I increased apples after reading an article about how good apples are for your birds. Added more fresh veggies. And i believe we are over all this for now. Lets hope.

Here is my baby, only been with me for about what now 2 months maybe, she is the love of my life. The spark is back in my smile and eyes. My world just cannot revolve without having an amazon in the house. Believe me i tried for almost 3 years and it was awful, lol So happy to have her. She is an old lady but age does not matter and also a little on the wide side. Love there appetites .

Yesterday i was in the hospital visiting a friend and i could swear i still smelled that smell. Oh lord maybe its in our flesh now. lol

I have owned and hand raised close to 500 birds, so i am very familiar with handling birds from small to large. I guess that my was my initial thought also, to call the vet and maybe do another round of antibiotics. I have always known that smelly poop is an alert of something not being right. Thanks i will get the call in and see what he says. Murfchck, yes the smell is just awful i agree with you. It seems like you can smell it in every corner of my house. And may i say i have a huge house and you cannot imagine a bird smelling this bad, especially since you normally do not smell there droppings. Will keep you all posted and see what is going on. Also springtime has something to do with it but this bird is 10 years old and i have never had this problem before.

Also start with a humidifier. That helps a lot with the dry air. I run mine all the time. If you need info where to get one i have a lady i got mine from with drops to put in the water, made specially for our pet birds and that is safe.
