Welcome to our family. I use white plastic garbage bags that are cut open and I tape them on the wall behind Kookies cage, they catch all the fruits and juices. Its easier to clean and can be changed frequently. I use old newspaper on the floor around Kookies stand but he still succeeds to mess up the room and he is a professional shredder...its his personal target to shred everything he gets his beak on into small pcs...LOL and he looks at me when Im cleaning his mess up and he says oooooooooooooohhooooohhh ....Nooooooo Nooooooooo he is so funny when he is hanging upside down to watch me pick up his mess... {Nature-00020095}

Renate Im so sorry. I just read this now and I had no idea. I can feel your pain and it took me back to the night I lost my preious grey Koki. Almost the same details, she was great, suddenly stopped eating, diarhea, then vomit and even after a visit to the vet (a stupid one) she died in my arms and it was very painful. I got another one and I did blood tests and the vet at the hospital confirmed PBFD. I sent her back to the shop cos this is not treatable and it will kill eventually. What you have to do now in case you wanna get another bird is a very thorogh cleaning and disinfecting of your home as this disease can linger in your home for months and affect another bird. Please let me know if you need help in that, I will give you all details I am so sorry again and wanted you to know that there is nothing you couldve done diffeently, its just Gods will.

Well Im thinking about a harness for Kookie, I would love to take him out but the only thing is that Kookie lived all his life in a bird room with 2 other parrots when he was at his previous owners. Hes not really used to going places and moving around. I feel he is stressed and scared when hes in a new room or in a new place. Simply puting him on my lap or on the ground stresses him. After a while he starts to take on to it but I dont want to stress him so I will get the Harness and see if he likes it. Ill let him toy with it for a while and see, but Im not very sure he would like going out What do you think?? {Nature-00020095}{Nature-00020095}

Hi Jeanie Just wanted to say that we all like it when our birds learn a trick, a new word or do something funny. Personally I think that the more your bird loves you and trusts you , the more he will be creative. Patience here is the key. I sit next to my bird as he preens and talk to him, just the usual stuff like what happened that day and so. I play with him and sometimes I tease him and he shouts at me. Those moments are priceless and when he picks up a word that youve been trying to teach and surprises you with it...it sounds heavenly. Ive been saying good morning every day to kookie since almost 2 months and suddenly yesterday and before his sleep time, he said good morning...it was so funny and in the wrong time..LOL The matter is they speak what they want when they want, keep talking to him and saying words you want him to learn...you will never know when he surprises you and you will love it... {Nature-00020095}{Nature-00020095}{Nature-00020095}

So glad that shes doing better...really so glad..thank God....she had us all worried and I was thinking of her last night when I went to bed... Well from now on shifting her diet is going to be a challange, just wait a little til she is better though before attempting a change. She must have lost weight so you have to be carefull. Any way the most important thing is that shes doing better...and the vet will give you instructions for the rest
