  3. I have checked with the vet some time ago as I heard that some people use baby J&J shampoo on their parrot. Well the vet says that I can do that only if ts really necesary, in case kookie gets some real dirt on him like food sauce or oil cos this is dangerous if it stays on his skin and feathers. He also explained that if I need to do it, I have to dilute it by adding one tea spoon to half leter of water in a spray bottle and use it (only if its really necessary) but whats also important is to wash it off really well with warm water. Make sure to rinse really well in case you use it cos you dont want residue on his skin to irritate him. {Nature-00020095}
  4. And in case the cage is in the corner, you only need to do that to 2 sides. {Nature-00020095}
  5. I strongly believe that punishment doesnt work. As Dan said try to figure out what triggered the bite. If Kookie bites me its because there is something he doesnt want me to do, so I find a way of doing it. Like when I wanna take him to his cage to sleep, he would try to bite me after he steps up, so now I turn off the light in the living room and say sleep time. After a couple of minutes I come to him and he steps up without any resistance. I keep in the other hand a small plastic stick that he plays with so that i can use it to distract him in case he decided to bite me. Its working fine. Try to find your way because sometimes we have to change our behaviour rather than forcing them to change. {Nature-00020095}
  6. The mesh scares me cos Im afraid a foot or a toes can get tangles between the mesh and the cage bars. Also as Dave said the mesh would get loose with time so it can be dangerous.Is it possible to add bars in between each 2 bars and weld them to your cage? It will be costly but at least cheaper than getting a new one {Nature-00020095}
  7. I put the new toys at sight from Kookie for a day or 2 and then bring them closer, normally he takes interest in them on the second day when hes sure they dont bite... but incase not, i put a couple of peanuts on them and this stimulates him to go closer. After that its difficult to take them away... Good Luck{Nature-00020095}Good Luck{Nature-00020095}
  8. I think its a challenge and if you do have the time and the will...well it can be surprising. A friend of mine has a 17 year old CAG who plays a lot and still learns new tricks and words, as long as my friend spends time with him, he is eager to learn new things. Good Luck{Nature-00020095}

  10. Never let kookie that close. Maximm is a quick kiss on the beek. Im afrai he would bite me {Nature-00020095}{Nature-00020095}
  11. Can u put her in another room? Or give her something to keep her busy Kookie has broken 2 mirrors ere hanging on the wall. He removesthe pins and enjoysthe mirror crashing down to pieces, but giving him enough toys to keep him busy, a mirror inside his cage and another one on his play tree, diverts his attention. Give her a wooden frame toplay with so she wouldnt have to destroy the ones in the room {Nature-00020095}

  13. What if you can show pictures of the fallen of feathers, to have the experts opinions if they have fallen on their own or were plucked. Honestly i look at the feathers that fall off Kookie's tal from time to time and I cant tell if they are dead feathers falling in their own or if he pulls them.
  14. wow so cute {Nature-00020095}

  19. Hi parrot lover, So does she have any toys in her cage?? As for biting you when you want her to stepp up and she doesnt want, its normal, she has tried it once and saw that it works and that it keeps you away, so thats her way of keeping you away, so she can stay where she pleases. As for attacking you while you are eating, I have a simple suggestion for you. everytime I get a food plate for myself, I get a small plate for kookie, I give him his plate first, then i go to eat my dinner. This certainly keeps him busy. Same goes for juice, his cup first, then mine. Hope this works out for you Rana {Nature-00020095}{Nature-00020095}
