Very nice introduction. I am looking forward to getting to know both you and Inara. Tags have a soft spot in my heart as my first parrot is a TAG, Ana Grey who is now 5 years old.
My BF zon likes to let out loud screams usually in the afternoon. If it is too much I just say "okay, knock it off, I hear you" He is quiet then. I find acknowledging the screaming helps my gang. Each parrot is different. What works for you may not work for me and visa versa.
I got one of the perchers and am disappointed. It is very light and I don't think it would hold my tag's weigh if she flew to it. Ana Grey is very light and small bearly 303 grams.
My CAG, Sterling Gris, is over 505 grams but he is a scaredy cat. He screams and growls anytime anyone but me comes into the room be the person 3' tall or 6'5" tall. He puffs up his feathers and tries to look real big while he screams and growls. It is comical because he is so big and I try real hard to calm him down poor baby.
Well howdy, I am just across the river from you. Love this great Northwest! I have always been fascinated by raptors and am so jealous of your job any pictures or information on them would be appreciated. As for the greys, both TAGs and CAGs are marvelous creatures. I would go with the one what chooses you. My Ana Grey (tag) is a true lady and my Sterling Gris (cag) is a big brute and I love them both.
Hi Sherry, great looking flock. You have my favorite, a lilac zon, I still want one. We have an Amazon Room for our zons, looking forward to hearing more about your zon there. Welcome to the family!
Ouch!!! But isn't that why we love our zons, they are so different from the greys and they can read us like a book. So which is worse my Louie who won't let me touch him or your Nilah who (believes) she is in charge. It's a toss up. Hope your day turns around for you Talon.
My CAG always has down feathers in his cage and around his cage. With three parrots I pick up feathers from their wings about every day. They molt and they shred feathers and down. Your grey is what 4 months old. I doubt very much that he is plucking. If you are concerned take him to an avian vet. We are not avian vets here.
With all the feathers and down that I have in my bird room, I could start a feather pillow company. They do like to preen and bathe for which I am grateful.
