  1. None of my parrots go to the bottom of their cages and dig or scratch. They are perch dwellers.
  2. Oh my, thanks for the eye opening. I'm amazed you are still sane....... aren't you??????? (smile)
  3. I have both a TAG and a CAG and a ZON. I just open the door and let them come out on their own. I never close their cages once they are out.
  4. Thanks for the update on Talon and Piper. Happy that things with Talon can be an easy fix and she is basically alright. As for Piper here is hoping the meds and your care can make her right as rain shortly.
  5. Looking forward to the videos Ray.
  6. Oh poor Babalu. Could it have something to do with the wall colors? I am at a loss with what the problem could be. Perhaps practice at shorter distances straight to you might help. More practice is all I can think of.
  7. Hi Muse. Oh more information please you have spiked my interest in learning more about your flock. Marden and Megan, seem to get along very nicely. Two fine looking CAGS. I have a TAG and a CAG that think beaking is a good thing as well. Welcome to the Grey family!
  8. You are always a good and diligent parront. Hoping for good results on the vet visit for Talon and Piper.
  9. Happy Hatch day Talon. You are the light in your mama's eyes. May you have many, many more to come. Oh I love to hear stories about our "older" greys. Or I should rephrase that: the ones that have been here well since the beginning.
  10. Great picture of Tequila. Love your couch, you are lucky Tequila is not a chewer, my parrots would destroy my couch if it were anything other than cloth.
  11. Camid, please start a new thread in the Welcome Room for yours and Gizmo's introduction so we can give you a proper howdy..
  12. Nicely done Dave. Thank you for making this informative thread. You have oodles of knowledge and I truly appreciate that you share it with us.
  13. Welcome to the Grey family Magnus. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of you new grey and hear all about him/her.
  14. Hi MightyMouz. I do not see why you feel you need to get another kind of parrot first. My suggestion to you would be to get a weaned 4 to 5 or more month old grey. One that has no baggage or bad habits or bad attitude. My first parrot is a Timneh African Grey. She is now 5 years old. I also have a Blue Front Amazon (5) and a Congo African Grey (2). They do come out of their cages together and they do get along. Greys do like to be with their flock and if you become a parront, you will be the flock. If you will have the time to spend with your grey and let it out of its cage to be with you, I do not see why there should be a problem. It is true that African Greys are very intelligent and like to interact but I believe it is quality time that counts. You need to read some of the threads in the grey forum, especially the ones about greys interacting into a family and with children and boyfriends and girlfriends. They can become jealous and they sometimes do not like certain people, animals and other things. I see from your post that you are a young person, just starting out. Will you have the time to spend with a new grey or will you be involved in "exploring life". Greys need attention, do you have the time.
  15. Both my greys bob the heads when they see me. I associate it with happiness or excitement. My zon does not bob his head. His eyes light up when he is happy.
  16. Welcome CritterCrazy. Looking forward to seeing some pictures.
  17. Very cute. Love those greys and their imitations. My Cag use to go to the backyard patio door and bark like my pug who does that to get my attention so she can go outside to do her business. Sterling Gris would bark, I would go to let "Lily" out and Sterling Gris what fly in the opposite direction. Needless to say I put a stop to that real fast.
  18. I'll give it a shot/guess. An amazon. Amazons and Greys blend well together.
  19. Time to move on Bluedawg, all you can do now is make life easier for your grey. When I got my greys both were clipped by their breeders. Both could easily go on top of the cages and I had knotted rope hanging from the open cage doors so they could go down to the floor for walking. I lialso had a wooden ladder that they have used. They adapt quickly as they are smart little boogers. Do be careful if your grey is now a floorwalker as it would be much too easy to step on her. Luckily my floor are laminated and I could hear my greys' claws hitting the floor with each step. Clipped wings grow back in and your grey will forgive you given time. Get well.
  20. Happy Hatchday Kizzy and many, many more!!
  21. I love it when they love the water. Sachi is a cutie!
  22. Love to see videos of our greys just chill'in.
  23. I have both a CAG and a TAG and I find that my TAG, Ana Grey, is much more fearless than my CAG, Sterling Gris. And she is just a wisp of a bird (300 grams) and he is a big brute (505 grams). Got to love them both for the different personalities.
