  1. I do this all the time, I don't know why I do this: I have noticed in the Pet Section of the local newspaper that a Lesser Sulfur Cockatoo is for sale. Cockatoos were my first parrot that I just had to have. I understand that they are more needy than a grey or amazon for that matter so I have read. But this species, the Lesser Sulfur, is more independent, so they write. Any help from our Too parronts would be appreciated. Do any of you have a Lesser Sulfur Too???? And as for you Baretta..... Curses!!!
  2. Removal gel stickers can be found in a Dollar Store, at least in my area. I use them on my patio and large windows so that my parrots/canary know that this is glass.
  3. I loved the time I spent in Australia when my oldest granddaughter was born. Loved the cockatoos and wallabies roaming free. It was like going back into the 50s/60. Thanks for the cute video Dan.
  4. No hissing here. My greys are pretty mellow. If they want something they just take it. It the two legged thingy takes it away, they just go back and get it when she is not looking.
  5. The difference, I believe, between you and your roommate is the fact that she is relaxed and calm. You on the other hand are nervous and apprehensive. i do understand that as you do not want to make any mistakes. However, our greys sense these things they are very intuitive and watch our every move. Relax and let Georgie take the lead and come to you.
  6. I agree with Dan, I too have watched a parrot in depression after a former loved parront has "come to visit". Send videos or pictures and updates but no personal visits.
  7. Only my CAG is a big pooper. When I first let him out of his cage, he immediately goes to the boing in the birdroom and bombs away onto the waiting newspaper. He is like clockwork. No one poops on me as I do not carry my parrots around on my shoulder. They follow me by flying after me or me chasing after them. I have perches in every room and they are all familiar with them and know that is where they belong when out of their cages.
  8. I have gel window stickers on all my large windows. I found some cute ones like flowers and trees and such at the Dollar Store. The nice thing is that I can remove them whenever I want and replace them elsewhere. Rather convenient. Hope Phoenix is okay.
  9. Delilah sounds like a sweetheart. Lookiing forward to hearing more and seeing some pictures. Congratulations on your new companion!
  10. I have a canary that I let out daily. He is not tame, I can't handle him. He goes back into his cage in the evening just like clockwork. I believe your greys will do the same, especially when they get hungry.
  11. You seem to be doing just fine with Georgie all on your own. Looking forward to hearing more about Georgie's first days in your home. Welcome to the Grey family!
  12. Your little girl is lovely! Sounds like you had a very nice homecoming for your little lady. I too don't recall a name. So what are you calling your sweet lady?
  13. Very nice improvement for your greys. I am very curious to hear how things go for this bonded pair.
  14. I too worry about my three parrots as none of my family like parrots. Because I am retired I use to let my parrots out of their cages daily, however, knowing that other people will not be doing this, I have started to leave them in the cages all day a couple of times a week so that it will not be a total shock to be left in their cages all day. They have adjusted well.
  15. Glad that your travelling is over and you are now home with family and Cricket.
  16. Congrats on you new family member. Sophie now has a great forever home. Hooray! My first grey is my Ana Grey, the sweetest little lady, if I do say so myself. Looking forward to getting to know Sophie and her new human family. Welcome to the Grey family!
  17. Very clear to hear! Thanks for sharing Inara's fun side.
  18. Oh yes, would love to see some pictures of Gilda.
  19. Hooray Shane, can't wait for your next post. Very excited for you and your new friend!
  20. My three parrots are all micro-chipped. It is quite simple. Take them to an avian veterinarian. My parrots had absolutely no reaction to the micro-chipping. Ana Grey my smallest grey was only about 290 grams when she was micro-chipped when she was about one year old. She is now 5. I can take my parrots back and have them scanned for their chips anytime I want. They are registered with "Home Again" so if they are lost they can be taken to any veterinarian with a micro-chip scanner or any humane society and I can be contacted. It is against the law to knowingly keep a micro-chipped pet and the offender can be prosecuted, at least where I live that is the law. As for cost, of course, it will vary. My parrots, of course, where deemed healthy by the vet before chipping and it cost about $65, if I remember, for a total of around $100,including check-up, but that was 3-5 years ago in Washington State. I also asked that they not be sedated, as I believe that is more harmful that a poke by a needle.
  21. If you are close to where there are pet supplies: Pet store, pharmacy,,,, Pick up some Kwik Stop (styptic powder) which is a dog/cat bird medication that will stop bleeding due to clipping or nails, etc.
  22. Thanks Dan, now I have to go find the right station and time on the TV.
