  1. Watching NCIS: Los Angeles. A couple of my favorite hunks are on there every week!
  2. It all has to do with personalities. My ekkie loves everyone and my other birds get along with him. My Amazon and Grey don't love each other and want to battle. I watch them all the time. Luckily my grey is swift and my amazon cumbersome as he is much larger than her.
  3. I have several different perches in my home and I have foraging toys and clanging bells, etc. at each to keep my birds busy.
  4. Love the autumn leaves, in someone else yard that is!!!! Thanks for sharing your colorful yard with us. I miss the country!!
  5. I leave the grate in my Amazon and Grey's cages as they go to the bottom of their cages and although they each have a selected place to poop I don't want them getting dirty. Now my Ekkie never goes to the bottom of his cage, and although he is the biggest poop I remove the grate from his cage because it is so hard to clean. I am grateful he is not a bottom dweller or I would have to leave the grate in and clean harder.
  6. Loved your letter to Sully Jenn!!!! I feel truly blessed, my birds are pretty quiet in the AMs unless I really oversleep. 11 am or so. Occasionally Ana Grey will practice her vocabulary but I love to listen to her. So have you gotten a reply yet????
  7. Oh I love the sound of flapping wings. All my birds are flighted now and they all fly differently. Ana Grey as swift as a jet. Louie like a cumbersome helicopter. Sully like an ancient rocket with only one landing place in mind. I hope you will let Skip be flighted.
  8. If DD uses the face paint a lot, isn't it a good idea to have DD put the paint on where Bella can watch? I find if my birds see something that makes them uncomfortable but something needed or used, they can get use to things if presented in the right way, if you can find one(right way) that is.
  9. You know my grey doesn't spend a lot of time roaming around in her cage. Even when she is in all day she plays with her toys and as long as she can flap/spread her wings out full, is very happy. Ana Grey treats her cage as a holding pen. How much time is your grey going to be out during the day?
  10. I also live alone and I wish there were more people around to interact with, but that's life. I do try to interact with my three parrots and Louie (my Hindu speaking Zon) has picked up a couple of phrases in English. I understand Zons are great singers so I sing a lot in the bird room. But now Ana Grey has a new phrase she loves to say frequently when I sing, "Stop that!!!" Do you think she is trying to tell me something!!!!! LOL!!
  11. Good for you Nilah, now that's the way to see that all the kiddies are up and alert and ready for breakfast and school on time. Good Girl!!!!!
  12. Great pictures of your little furry/feathery family!!!!! The kitties all looks so very cuddly and your fids look great!!!! Thanks for sharing them with us!!
  13. Great picture of Lilly on her new perch. Very interesting place to put that perch, I like it!!!!
  14. My older ekkie does this when he can't see me after I have been out of the room for a while. I just call out to him or I go see him so he knows I'm still around and he usually quiets down. He also does this around 7:00 pm so I know that it is time for all good birdies to go to sleep. After the bloodcurdling reminder, I give evening treats to my fids (dried veggies and seeds) to lure Louie and Ana Grey into their cages, close cage doors, tell them all "nite, nite" and turn off the lights. Ana Grey use to call out to me before she was flighted and I would answer her back. She would then walk through the house to find me. Now that she is flighted, she just comes looking for me.
  15. Rick, some parrots don't talk until they are over a year old, some longer and, of course, some never. My grey says the words she wants, some words she never tries to say, some she says immediately. It all depends on a parrot's interest in the words. Sometimes voice inflections are something a grey likes, sometimes because it is related to something they like or want. Or maybe it is a reaction the word brings out of you or someone else. So don't worry about it, Nemo's words will come in Nemo's time and you just have to wait. Don't give up and keep talking to Nemo.
  16. Hi Mark, welcome to you and Bambino. My birds sleep in a darkened birdroom starting at 7:00 pm at night. I only have light drapes on the one window in their room so light comes in early in the morning which my birds seem to enjoy. So you need to figure out what makes Bambino most comfortable. Some birds enjoy being covered, my birds all sleep uncovered, it seems to make them most comfortable. If you have any pictures of Bambino, we would love to see them.
  17. Ana Grey has no set schedule for talking. Some days she says nothing all day. Some days she wakes me up very early saying every word or phrase she knows. It all depends on her mood or who is around.
  18. More great pictures of Lilly, thanks!!!!!! It's good to see that she will be watching the Discovery channel. What a smart baby she will be!!!!! On another note, very nice picture of your family as well, a handsome bunch by the way.
  19. Congratulations your new Panama Robin. I can't wait to see some pictures. Our zons are certainly characters as you will soon find out!!!!
  20. Lilly is a jewel!!! What a cutie!!! She looks right at home all ready.
  21. Well, where is this new baby?????? Details please!!!!! Waiting patiently....
  22. I am sorry to hear of the loss of Baby, Yvette. Take solace in knowing that Baby is flying free and high in the morning sun.
  23. My older ekkie has a problem with his feet and he loves the rope perch he has in his cage. What I like about the rope perch is that it can be bent this way or that way, whichever you prefer or your bird needs.
  24. Are you concerned that Babalu is plucking. I have an ekkie that is a plucker and believe me Babalu looks fine. Right now my Amazon has lots of down feathers throughout his cage and I know he is not plucking. Ana Grey just went through molting feathers and loosing a lot of down feathers. I know she is not plucking. If you are concerned then take Babalu to the vet to rule out a health problem.
  25. Ray, love your pictures!!! I grew up with peacocks on the farm and I sure miss them. They are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your peacocks with us!!!!
