  1. I haven't tried these parrot puzzles, but they do look "busy" for the Houdini type A culprits: http://www.parrottoy.com/jvmstore/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=1&Itemid=2&vmcchk=1&Itemid=2
  2. Hopeful thoughts coming Tobie's way. I hope to hear Tobie is flying very soon. Fingers crossed for Tobie.
  3. When I got Louie about a month ago, he would growl at me when I sprayed him. I guess he just watched Ana Grey loving her spraying and how she always runs up to the top of her cage playstand to be misted. I always spray upward at them with a fine fanned out spray, perhaps that helps.
  4. Yes, sireee, they are certainly amazing amazons!!!! Thanks Ray!!!
  5. Please let your Dad know how sorry we are for his loss of sweet Juliet. So very, very sorry.
  6. Thanks Judy and Jay. My favorite picture is the third one. Louie with his wings spread and looking backwards upside down and through his spread wings. Gorgeous!!!!!!
  7. All my fids love to get wet. Have you tried misting Babalu a couple of times a week so he can get really wet. I use water bowls for my fids and change the water in the AM and at bedtime. If you use a water bottle the water should be changed daily as well.
  8. I mist my fids with aloe vera juice and water a couple of times a week, it certainly is helping Sully (ekkie) grow his feathers back. Ana Grey just loves being sprayed and there is a video around here somewhere showing her twirling and flapping in total delight. Anyway, I thought I would post a few pictures of Louie and his spraying session. He fluffs up his feathers like my daddy's old fighting cocks use to do (oops!). Louie still won't let me touch him but that's alright, he is very smart and goes into his cage at night time no problem so we get along just fine. Ana Grey still dive bombs him and he has started to beak back and say, "Stop that" (new words for Louie) shooing Ana Grey off. Ana Grey is about 1/3 Louie and Sully's sizes so good thing she is quick and they are just lumbering giants trying to get a pest to go away. Anyway, Louie's misting pictures!!!!
  9. I have perches and boings in front of my windows especially the front room windows. At these sites, I also have foraging toys in which I keep treats and other goodies. I am retired so first thing in the morning I spend quality time with my fids, talking and singing and eating breakfast with them. They are all flighted and have full range of the house. I believe the special time with them just the focus helps full their desire to be with me. If they call me I just answer and they can always come an hang with me in any room.
  10. Congratulations on your clever little riddle wizard. Now if Neptune were my grey, I would lock all my medicines and harmful cleaners, etc. under lock and key!!!! Then hid the key in my car locked glove box!!!!
  11. It's wonderful that you have given Kaleah a new home. I look forward to hearing more about her. Kaleah is very lucky to have found you!!!!
  12. Great bath time pictures!!!! Very handsome little family you have there!!!!!!
  13. Kudos to your cousin!!!!! Can't wait to see a picture or two of the release!!!! You should be proud GoDiego!!!
  14. My grey is not allowed on my shoulder as she loves to preen my hair and BITE my ears!!!! When she broke my crucifix chain that was it!!!! If she tries to go there I just shake my shoulders and she is unbalanced and flying off. I can understand why Sully would be angry with you, kind of like a child "why can Joe, Romeo, Chicken, and Zoe go and I can't" They must love them best!!!!! You might need to decide all or nothing to keep peace among fids.
  15. So give Sully something to eat. Give him a piece of apple, piece of carrot, whatever, and see if he eats it. When Ana Grey wants something extra to eat, she says, "want some", so give your grey something to eat and call it by name, "want some carrot?"
  16. My grey/eclectus/amazon call me now and then and I just call back. They just want to know I have not forgotten them. So answer your grey and see if that helps. As for the not wanting to be touched, some times they just want to be left alone. When Ana Grey does this, I just move on. It doesn't take too long before she is looking for me. My fids are out almost all day long as I am retired and they are fully flighted.
  17. I have both a TAG and a eclectus, but I don't know what species of eclectus Solomon, aka Sully, is. I named him Solomon because when he grows all his feathers back he will have a robe fit for the royal bird he is. He is a large bird but I don't know how long he is because he is deathly afraid of any kind of sticks, including yardsticks. He is at least 10 years old. He was found at a carwash, badly plucked. He lived in a busy pet shop for 7 1/2 years. I have been his parront for about 1 1/2 years. In the last 6 months or so he has finally stopped plucking his feathers. I would say he is a Mcgillivary, but he is most likely a Vosmari, he is very large. Sully is very set in his ways, he likes to go to bed a 7 pm and will scream until the lights are out in the bird room. He likes it quiet and serene. He does like to be with me or the other fids. If I had to describe him in one word it would be "regal' just like a king. He only says one word "Hi" He can laugh and sound like a laser. But other than that he is a quiet guy.
  18. What a cutie Tweety is!!!!! Thanks for sharing this sweetheart with us!
  19. I commend you Lisa on wanting to help a grey, but I don't think you are going to find a "free" one. They are expensive little boogers when it comes to proper food and care. I too have always loved parrots and finally got my first grey when I was 62 and could finally become a proper parront. Please read the many threads here at the forum there is oodles of information about greys.
