  1. It's great to hear that Ollie is doing so well with socialization. Good job! Can't wait to hear more.
  2. To be on the safe side, I would have an avian vet check Rambo out if he were my grey. My grey has never been so sedate as you have made Rambo sound. Please let us know how the visit goes.
  3. You and Julie are going to be having so such fun, Judy. I know you are going to be too busy to even think about us back home and I am so jealous!!! Can't wait to see your pictures!!!
  4. I believe it is more empathy than telepathy. Ana Grey seems to identify with and understand my feelings. My fids have great understanding of situations I believe.
  5. Many people who have greys/fids go to work every day for 8-10-hours a day. It is quality time not abundance that are important. Don't stress yourself about wanting to make things better in the long run for yourself and your fids.
  6. My you do have a whole mess of birdies!!!!!! Can't wait to hear more about your flock!! Oh a GCC - Gold Capped Conure and a TAG - timneh African Grey.
  7. Oh how very lovely!!! Thanks for finding and sharing this with us Dan!!!
  8. Good thoughts going Charlie's way. I hope he finds a friend and all will be well again. Fingers crossed.
  9. What I do with my grey is tell her no and explain what she is doing is wrong. Example, Ana Grey is always pestering my older ekkie and stealing his food. I tell her no and to get out of there and she does know that I will come and get her if she doesn't. I have told her what she is doing wrong and that she should leave Sully alone. And she gets out of the cage. Now I have to watch her and she does try to sneak back in but I believe our fids understand tone of voice and animation, at least Ana Grey does. I don't mean yelling as I don't yell at my fids, but the tone gets her every time.
  10. If you have looked around and can't find out what could have frightened Smokey, then I would just relax and go on as if everything were normal and hope that Smokey will calm down.
  11. What a great idea. And it looks great. Perhaps I'll give it a try. Ana Grey likes ice cubes. Perhaps Louie will be a Popsicle kind of guy!!!!
  12. Perhaps it is a Yellow Ringneck Parakeet. http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3F_adv_prop%3Dimage%26va%3Dyellow%2Bringneck%2Bparakeet%26fr%3Dchr-frontier-s&w=375&h=500&imgurl=farm4.static.flickr.com%2F3360%2F3562408801_8cdefa56aa.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fzac001%2F3562408801%2F&size=102KB&name=Yellow+indian+ri...&p=yellow+ringneck+parakeet&oid=9305897c69c7e6bf91081d2fad49f025&fr2=&spell_query=yellow+ringneck+parakeet&no=7&tt=87&sigr=11f7eff4b&sigi=11m4m8ke3&sigb=13afaasdc
  13. Congratulations to Yoshi, how exciting. I agree with the confidence level going up, up, up. Ana Grey was clipped when I got her and it took a year for her to be able to fly. She loves its. Way to go Yoshi!!!
  14. You need to talk to the birds owner. Have him type/write up about each of his birds. Their likes, dislikes, foods, favorite treats, their schedules. The dos and don't. I have a free roaming canary that I keep in the front of the house because I love to hear him sing. He spends the day sitting on my plant shelving in front of my kitchen patio door and goes back to his cage for food and to sleep. Each bird is different only the owner can tell you the traits and what works for each one.
  15. First, you must relax because Pipo can sense your distress. They are so sensitive to feelings. Then just start again calming and with confidence as if life is okay. As others have said, you lost his trust, so start again and relax. He will forgive you if you let him.
  16. Happy Anniversary Cocoa!!!! All that flying is certainly keeping you in tiptop shape!!!!
  17. Well Louie, says Hello to me a lot when he wants me to come see him. Louie came off of his cage today to sit on Sully's cage. He won't let me touch or come too close but he does try to listen to me. He has been talking, he can wolf whistle and bark like a dog, and he does talk but in Hindi!!!! His prior owners are Hindu. I talked to his prior parront and she told me he can say, I love you and Here, kitty, kitty in English. He knows the word Mom. (He has his prior mom's accent. So I guess I am going to have to teach him more English. This should be a challenge. He is a great bird and he loves to eat. I am very happy with him and Ana Grey is getting use to having him around so hopefully all will go well.
  18. Great picture of Cricket! Thanks for sharing Cricket with us!
  19. Can't wait to see some pictures of this little traveler of yours!!!!
  20. Ana Grey was clipped when I brought her home at 4 months old 11/29/08, I believe. She took flight on 11/14/09. It was a long wait but she hasn't stopped flying and maneuvering around since!!! I love the sound of her wings flapping as she flies into the room!!!! Priceless!!! Even my canary has out of cage flying time!!!
  21. I am so sorry that Charlie isn't doing well. I hope your friend, Alan, can help Charlie. I have a chronic plucking ekkie that I re-homed about a year and a half ago. He has just stopped plucking. He is very set in his ways and I have just being doing everything to make his life as stress free as possible. That's all you can do, the best you can. I pray Charlie will be helped by Alan.
  22. A very heartwarming story with a happy ending or perhaps a new beginning!
  23. Hooray, I am so very happy that you have found your sweet grey! Amen!!!
  24. I have a re-homed ekkie that was found and taken to a local pet store where he was for 7 1/2 years before I got him a year and a half ago. He has no band and was terrible plucked when found so I assume he is at least 10 years old and probably at least a couple of years more because of the horrible plucking. He acts like he is older than the hills. I wish I knew more about him as he has some issues that are very sad. I have chosen his purchase date as his day of celebration as that is the date of his new beginning.
