  1. Awww yes it is very quiet here in the Amazon Room. Jay you need to quit lounging around and come tend to business!!!!! I am praying for you Zon Man so get well soon. On a note about our zons, Louie is a real smarty pants. I have posted about his and Ana Grey's feud for dominance in the flock and Louie being the bigger of the two has an advantage. Anyway, last night at bedtime I was trying to get Ana Grey in her cage, she can be stubborn at times and I was voicing my disapproval very strongly. Louie being the smart zon he is, always tries to out maneuver Ana Grey so he immediately flew over to his cage and hopped right in. I, of course, immediately ran over and closed his cage door with oodles of approving words and cooing sounds, he was beaming like a green neon sign. Ana Grey quietly snuck into her cage and pretended that she was going there all the time. Why she wasn't going to be out done by that big green lout!!!!! Love my green lantern!!!! Be well soon Jay!!!
  2. It certainly does sound like Kura is taken. Good thing I didn't tell Sully about her. LOL!!!!
  3. Hey where to you live Birdhouse, I've been looking for a sweetheart for my male ekkie, Sully!!
  4. Oh that was quite nasty Jill. Shame on you for being so ill willed!!!!!! Actually thanks for the great laugh.
  5. Hey I have new keyboard thanks to Ana Grey. I guess she wanted to type or have me stop typing is why she ate the keys!!!!
  6. It's great to hear that Sunshine is doing so well. Pictures please!!!
  7. Too cute!!!!! That's funny the formula being stuck to his face.
  8. Oh greys can laugh!!!!! All they have to do is hear a good hearty laugh and they can mimic it great!!!!!! Give it a try it is one of my favorite grey sounds.
  9. I can only comment on my experience with my 2 1/2 year old TAG. Her breeder was very particular about who owned her greys as she spent a lot of time socializing and preparing them for becoming companions. So part of the personality of a grey comes from the breeder's socialization methods and teaching her purchasers how to care for her babies. That being said, I live alone and Ana Grey spends most of her time with me. She is very confident and trusting and I can do just about anything with her. She has chosen a couple of my grandchildren as worthy friends. My 21 year old grandson and my 11 year old grandson she will fly to and land on their shoulders. She loves treats from them and they are her "guys." Everyone else she will tolerate but she will not fly to them. She sits on her perches or boings and leaves them alone and expects them to also leave her alone. I do not encourage her to befriend anyone else but my family. If Ana Grey wants to be left alone she will fly to her bird room or my office as these are safe havens for her.
  10. Post flyers on telephone poles, on the bulletin boards in your local grocery store and gas station. Call your local veterinarians to make them aware of your lost grey. If you live near a school post close to there also. Ask your neighborhood children, if you can to let you know if they see or hear about anyone who has a found a parrot. Go out early in the AM and in evening if you can with Shanti's favorite treats and call out his favorite call sounds/words. Whatever you do, don't give up Shanti is waiting for you to find him. Prayers coming your way for Shanti's quick and safe return.
  11. I think you should just continue to enjoy your rambunctious ball of feathers. I try everyday to remember what a joy my 2 1/2 year old Ana Grey is. Why today I got a new keyboard to replace my old one with had numerous chewed up and broken keys. It was getting old anyway. Why I brought it almost a whole year ago!!!!! Piece of junk it was!!!! I enjoyed your story about Brutus. Thank you for sharing your insight with us very refreshing!!!!!
  12. I am totally delighted to hear the happiness in your words. The fun has just begun!!!! Timmy has found a new forever home. I am so happy for the little guy!!!
  13. Excellent advice from Dave and Dan. Ana Grey is usually a sweetheart but sometimes she gets over-enthusiastic if I stop giving her a tickle and she still wants more, or if I ignore her when she wants attention. Out comes that beak to remind me who really is in charge!!!
  14. Ana Grey eats, tuna, chicken, hamburger, steak, salmon, a little this, a little that. Not a lot just a taste now and then.
  15. The only kisses I get are ones on the cheek when I ask for them first thing in the morning. If Ana Grey doesn't go to my cheek and kiss it I just let it go. It is always her choice to come to me. That beak is something I truly don't want to mess with!!!!
  16. Where I live it is common practice for the rescuers to come from the local pet store because who else can handle the untrusting, starving and frightened loose parrots? The animal shelters can catch them but do not have a way to properly care for them. I got my Ekkie from the local pet store, and he hated it there because it was too noisey for him. He plucked and screamed. He is much happier with me and frankly if he had not been there in the local pet store, I would never have found this sweet and needy jewel.
  17. I guess she won't be getting the salesperson on the month award!!!!!! I hope you found a more helpful person to help you found what you needed!!!
  18. Congratulations Karen this is marvelous news. Sadie is so lucky to have found you. I know with a loving parront and good food Sadie will thrive in no time. I am happy for both your you!!!!! Hooray!!!
  19. ahhh yes, have this video around here somewhere. Great little story!!!!
  20. Very cute videos. Kito is a real jewel. Love the door frame hang!!!
  21. Love your new attitude!!!!! Let Timmy set the pace and you will be rewarded ten-fold. He is already making his mark. Whistling at your Mom, what a Cad!!!!!
  22. Oh so true, I have tried to get Ana Grey to say, "I'm a pigeon" for over a year and no dice. I stubbed my toe and said "F_ _ _ It" just once in real pain and it stuck like glue for a while. It still pops up every now and then (from Ana Grey not me, I learned my lesson) and I just have to ignore it and hope no one else can understand her!!!!
  23. Hoorah, finally all the little friends are back!!!!
  24. Our greys have their own personalities. Their own way of life and we have to respect it. Just give Timmy some space. Just like people, enough is enough and everyone needs a time out. My grey is out almost all day as I am retired. She is flighted and my house if accident proof for her as much as I can think of. Ana Grey enjoys sitting on her boing in my office while I am typing or reading. She enjoys my company but she enjoys her freedom as well. I have foraging toys and wooden toys to chew on all over the place. Let Timmy find himself and I believe he will want to be with you more because it is his choice. So relax and let Timmy explore on his own (while he is in your sight off course as they are little mischief makers!!!!)
