  1. LOL, I call my Louie my samurai helicopter. He is clumsy and muscle bound but hovers beautifully. Ana Grey is a sleek missile who can maneuver any which way and is quick and accurate. Now Sully, my ekkie, who didn't fly for about 9 years more or else jumps and glides not really flapping his wings at all. He stays low. They are all so different and beautiful in flight each in their own way.
  2. It does sound interesting to me Jill, however, feathers and dead tissue fall off and what happens if you forget to spray your bird??? Kind of like the pill, you forget to take it and all kinds of long lasting consequences can happen!!!!! I prefer the micro-chip. When I take my pets to the vet, I always ask the vet to scan Lily or Ana Grey to reassure myself that their chips can be read easily. It takes only a second and I have never been refused the request.
  3. My fids sleep in their everyday cages, uncovered. They are in a bird room that I can darken as needed. I do have large travel cages in the other rooms so Sully can sit in one as he does not like to be outside of a cage but he does like to be able to see me. These are great cages for when I go to my daughter's as they are large enough for the birds to stretch.
  4. Sunshine is certainly very pretty Judy!!!! Thanks for posting her for Kevin!
  5. Hi Mips, great intro by the way!!!!! Kizzie and Kunta are lucky to have found you. I can't wait to hear more about them. Welcome to the Grey family!!!!
  6. You are in England so I don't know about what goes on there. Here in the US you don't have to put leg bands on birds any longer only if you choose. Only my Zon is permanently banded now.
  7. Oh Louie is really a sweetheart, he is just very into life. He does everything with enthusiasm and gusto!!!! He lived with breeding greys after the husband became ill and as the wife says, he became untame and unruly. I don't know about if he had toys, he just loves toys now and destroys them all. Someday he will learn to step up and be more trusting of me, I can wait as I can see that he is happy and enjoying himself in his new home.http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp158/JanetMoulton/003-25-1.jpg Look at that sparkle in his eye, he is happy and carefree. I totally love him!!! http://http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp158/JanetMoulton/003-25-1.jpg
  8. So I am off to the local hardware store to get some nuts, bolts and whatever those long metal things they all attached to are.... what are they???? Anyway, Louie, my male Amazon loves to destroy anything that's wood, metal or attached to the ceiling, walls or boings. He tears down his bungee boing at least three times a day and made it crash to the floor over and over. His beak is very strong and he is very intelligent!!! I have found splinters of wood all over the bird room floor and fearfully looked over all my woodwork. Thank goodness it is always his wooden toys in shambles. (Thank you Ana Grey for ignoring all those big wooden toys I got for you when I thought you would be huge!!!!! They certainly keep Louie busy!!!) Louie is now working on destroying the hula hoop atom I worked so hard on!!!! Granted, it only cost me a few dollars to make but he has made it his personal business to take it all apart. Can't find the stainless steel nuts and expect the whole mechanical brilliant toy to come crashing down any minute now. He protects this Atom as if he is the General of the Army protecting a hill and Ana Grey is shooed off all the time!!!!! Big Brute!!!! I have tried to find some tougher toys for Louie to "play" with and I have now decided to make my own!!!!! Hence I am off to the hardware store for nuts, bolts and screwy things!!!! Wish me luck!!!
  9. Gorgeous pictures, gorgeous parrots. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. The park is wonderful.
  10. So beer and ale are okay????? Hooray!!!!
  11. Hi Angie congratulations on your new companion. Your Aunt is very lucky to have such a wonderful niece to take care of her beloved Brody. I look forward to hearing more about Brody and seeing some pictures when you get a chance. Welcome to the Grey Family!
  12. Hi SarahP, welcome to the Grey forum. It's always great to hear that a person does their research before purchasing a grey, as they are so different than other parrots. I look forward to hearing about your grey adventure into the realm of Greys.
  13. Welcome back to you and BoBo!!! Can't wait to hear your updates and new pictures!!!!!
  14. I keep my home around 70-71° in the day in the winter. My birds are all fine and at night my home is around 68-69°. My fids have never complained.
  15. Sounds like she is very precious. Perhaps a name for a precious stone: Jade, Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald; she has such vibrant colors in her feathers.
  16. Tell us a little more about her and perhaps we can help you out!!!! She certainly is a beautiful little girl!!
  17. Who knows why they like who they like and tolerate who they only tolerate. My grey flies to my 11-year-old grandson who is a cat person!!!!!! Gabriel never invites Ana Grey on his shoulder she just likes him for some reason.
  18. Ahhh yes, man's answer to everything. Duct tape, of course!!!!!!!!"> It holds a man's World together!!!!!
  19. Well hello KoKo!!!!!! Great name and am happy, happy, happy that the perching is going so well. As for the walking, Ana Grey walks like a drunken sailor. She much prefers to fly!!!!
  20. Hi Megan, congratulations on your first grey!!! How very exciting!!!! Can't wait to hear more!!!! Welcome to the Grey family!!!
  21. I prefer to deal with one holiday at a time!!!!! I must live thorough Thanksgiving first!!!!
  22. I have a 2 1/2 year old re-homed blue-fronted zon also. Louie is still quite leery of me (he was caged in his old home and not handled) but he loves to come out of his cage. Although he can go throughout the house, he prefers the bird room as it has lots of perches and toys. He is quite busy in there. He does like to get vocal a couple of times a day and I just talk to him to redirect his energy. After a little attention he is fine again. He does love to bathe in his water bowl so I mist him a lot.
